Chapter 248: 247. Tell me

"I would like some tea too," Kora’d voice was heard coming from the same place where Lucy was spotted, and behind was Darren who didn’t look very happy as he stared at her.

"Why didn’t you say you were with them?" Levi whispered. He could see that they did not look too happy right now and he didn’t want to get a scolding from either of them.

"You never asked if I was with them, so how was to say that?" Lucy asked while pouring the tea into a cup that just appeared before them.

"Are you alright Luna?" Mateo asked after looking at the mates and seeing the anomaly in their expressions. It was better to ask Kora what was wrong before asking Darren.

"I am fine," she said, walking past him to take the tea that was meant for her. She needed one of Lucy’s tea right now. She has managed to not say a word to Datrrn regarding what she went there to do and she knew he was aware that she was lying with every response that she gave but she could not help it. If she told him now she was sure he would come up with a way to make her stay here no matter how much she protested.

She didn’t want to stay back, she had plans that she needed to end all of this though she felt bad to keep him in the dark knowing how much it would hurt once he learned of it and the impact it would have on him. It was something he needed to know so he could prepare himself for the worst possible outcome but she couldn’t know how he would react to it.

"It is time to leave, Alpha. Everyone is waiting," Mateo said. He didn’t know what happened but none of them seemed to be interested in talking about it.

Darren looked at him and nodded his head. "Tell them we’ll be out in a moment." He walked over to Kora and took her hand.

No matter what, he had to know what she was hiding. His instincts told him to not let it go and he won’t. Something bad would happen and wouldn’t allow it. His beast could feel it too and each she dishes a question, he pushes forward wanting to take control. If this was the past, he would have lost the fight for control already. Kora tried pulling her hand out of his grip and he released her picked her up and walked away.

The others just stared at them as they walked away and exchanged glances with each other. This was the first time that they were seeing them like this. They argued once in a while but to this point where one of them would be forced to speak against his will.

"Do you think they will be okay?" Emily asked. She was worried for them. They both look upset. Something like this wouldn’t be quick to end and they come to an agreement unless one was willing to let go and accept defeat.

"I hope so," Levi said and Mateo just stared at the stairs where their images disappeared.

"Perhaps I should have a word with Lucinda," Lucy muttered. Her order was barely above a whisper but everyone present there heard her thanks to their sharp hearing.

"You know what is wrong, don’t you?" Mateo asked. She neither denied nor accepted it and they could come up with their own assumptions of what the answer was. Though they would most likely be right.

Inside their bedroom, Darren placed Kora on the bed with her back and he caged between his hands and towered over her. He shut his eyes to make sure his beast did not win over him and made the matter worse. After a moment he opened his eyes.

"Tell me what it is, please Kora," he pleaded. He couldn’t take being kept in the dark like this when his very being was telling him something would go wrong. A lot of things would go wrong because they were heading to a battle but this was different. He felt it was about Kora or at least the child in her and that would hurt her should anything happen to the baby. "Please."

Kora stared into his eyes and the but in them and many more emotions she didn’t have the time to decipher and understand. Seeing him like that, she felt a squeeze in her chest and knew she was hurting for him. She cupped his face and made him move closer to her and kissed his forehead and hugged him placing his head on her chest.

"I am sorry," she said and felt him snake his right hand around her while he used his left hand to support his weight so he wouldn’t press down on her. "I am so sorry."

He pushed himself up to look at her and saw her staring deep into his eyes and tears threatening to fall. He quickly changed their positions where he now lay on the bed and she rested her head on his chest.

"Kora," he called, addressing her back when he felt a warm liquid slid from her face and touched him. It bothered him even more that she was crying right now and he didn’t know what caused it. "Let us talk about this okay? Stop crying."

"I will tell you," she said, gripping his shirt. She needed strength from him right now. She couldn’t keep it anymore when she saw how hurt he was. He was hurt just because of her keeping something away from him.

Darren’s hand that moved gently in her back did not stop but kept its movement stopping now might discourage her. "I am here for you. Take your time," he said and felt her nod her head.

After some seconds passed, she opened her mouth and started telling him what she planned and did to stop all that was happening and Darren could not believe it. It was no wonder she refused to tell him a thing and kept it to herself while seeking him from Lucy rather than Emily or Lucinda.

"I can not allow It," he said but she was not surprised that he said she would let her. Why aurpruaedher was how calm he was after hearing what she had said. "I will not allow it." 𝕗𝕣𝐞𝐞𝘄𝐞𝚋𝚗𝗼𝘃𝗲𝗹.𝚌𝕠𝚖

"This is necessary," she objected but he shook his head having another idea.

"Something that will most likely affect my family can never be an option," he said and she sat up cleaning her tears with the back of her palm.

"Don’t worry, nothing will happen..." she trailed off when he interjected.

"I am not a fool, Kora, don’t tell me that,"
