Chapter 268: 266. Battle 14: How it ends 1

Meanwhile, Mateo and Ramiel arrived at where Darren was and stopped, stupefied by what they did. A hand was stacked on Norman’s chest right where his heart should be and he was bleeding profusely, the hand belonging to none other than Norman himself.

One of his hands had been ripped off his shoulder while the other stepped on by the alpha who seemed to enjoy what was happening. There was a smirk on the face as he increased the pressure on the hand under his foot. The smirk looked more dangerous now that he was half-shifted.

"Alpha..." Mateo called, taking careful steps forward. If it was any other time, tackling him off Norman wouldn’t be a bad idea but his current stay wouldn’t permit such a bold move. He might become the next one whose death may entertain the lycan reeking of dark murderous intent right now.

As if noticing their presence for the first time, Darren sniffed the air before looking in their direction, he cocked his head to the side and then raised a brow. He then stepped away from Norman and growled at them.

"Alpha, please listen..." Mayeo uttered but was cut off by a more dangerous growl.

"I thought I ordered you to deal with the humans?" Darren stepped forward and Mateo took one step backward. Ramiel did the same. The alpha before them was unstable.

"You are not yourself, Alpha, please listen to me," Mateo gave another attempt to talk to him. But rather, Darren laughed, throwing them off guard.

"I am very much myself, my dear beta," he replied and walked closer to them again. "But I am angered by the fact that I gave you a command and you defied me."

Mateo went to his knees and bowed his head as well as Ramiel. This was the only way he could think to appease the irritated lycan. "We were worried something would happen to you, Alpha, so I followed you. The humans are being taken care of as I speak, the vampires have arrived and so have Lucinda," he informed.

Darren stopped walking and stared down at him, his expression was unreadable. "How certain are you that they will succeed?"

"I trust Levi and the warriors with him, alpha, don’t forget that they are the warriors from Ghora, they can handle the humans. The other alphas are with them as well," Mateo replied tactfully.

"Fine..." he paused and looked up at the sky. He cursed and turned around immediately. He didn’t care about anything right now, the goddess had descended before he could get to Kora. It was already midnight.

"What do we do now, Beta Mateo?" Ramiel as asked. He suddenly left without even finishing his statement.

"We follow him, that is what we should do,"

Earlier...

Kora and the girls reached Black storm pack and were relieved but they didn’t stay in the packhouse for long as Kora asked to be taken to the highest peak near the pack. Emma, Rosie and Meily opposed but the supreme Luna’s orders could not be denied so she was taken there by the pack warrior and Luna.

"It appears my entrance was late," Dmitri said from behind the group, causing them to stop and turn to look at him.

"Indeed, you took sweet time to get here, you put your pets back to sleep again, they are not needed anymore," Kora replied and he smiled. Stepped forward but made sure that vampires did not follow him.

"Are you this is what you want to do, Gaia?" He asked and she nodded her head. "In that case, I won’t stop you, you may proceed. The same way I am asking you not to stop me from going down to the humans and killing as many of them as possible. They are hungry, the can’t sleep on an empty stomach, can they?"

"You just want revenge, nothing more," Kora said and he raised his hand in surrender. "Don’t kill them all," she said and turned around to continue with her walk. She wants to end this, but she has also lost many. The human population was much more than that of the shifters or any other race, killing a fee wouldn’t hurt seeing how much damage they have caused to them.

"Do not trust Selene blindly Kora, that goddess is nit as pure as you shufted believe her to be," were Dmitri’s last words before he left.

His words had the shifter frowning wondering what he meant while at the same time taking offense at his words towards the most revered goddess.

"You all can stay here, I will continue on my own from here," she said but they didn’t listen.

"What did he mean by the goddess can not be trusted, Luna?" Emily asked. They all nodded their heads having the same question.

"She will be here in a few minutes, as for his reasons, you can ask him thay yourself," she replied. She was also mad at the goddess because of her curse on Darren which was consuming him, but she didn’t have to say that to them. The purpose of hhercoming tonight was not to fix the ongoing mess and put an end to it all. A little more request thrown at her wouldn’t hurt.

"WHAT!!" They exclaimed, surprised that she would be coming and ilat a time such as this as well.

"Is she coming to stop this?" the luna of Black storm pack asked, happy that she had accompanied them up here but her excitement started to die down when they same excited looks could not be found on the Supreme gamma lady and the others.

"No wonder the vampire said she is not as pure as we think," Emily said, her expression crestfallen. "You don’t have to do anything, wars are like a natural part of the ecosystem, this one has come and it will pass as well."

"But that won’t give a permanent solution to the problem, Emily, how would you feel if Levi falls victim to war and dies, or maybe your parents?"

"Kora..."

"My point exactly," Kora said, cutting Emily short.

"But Kora..." Emily wanted to protest but didn’t know what to say. Kora’s words were a bit too direct, harsh, and unexpected.

"Do not try to stop me. My mind is already made up," Kora said and turned to continue walking forward.

"What will happen to the baby?" Sophia asked. It was uncertain what would become of Kora once she started whatever she had she had in mind, but then what about her baby? "Surely you must have thought about them too, right, Luna?"

"There is nothing to worry about," she replied. She raised her head to the sky, staring at the moon. She could feel the presence of the one she was waiting for, drawing closer. "You all should wait here.... Please," she added, knowing that they would protest.

"I still don’t like this," Emily said with her hands folded across her chest and her feet thrown the side. She unhappy and they all could see it.

"Neither do I,"

"Neither do I,"

Rosie and Sophia said at the same time.

"Kora," Rosie stepped forward. She placed a hand on Kora’s shoulder and gave it a gentle squeeze. "We understand that you want to end this, but they must be another way. Yo8 don’t have to put yourself in harms way t9 find a way to stop it. We can work together and come up with something."

"I won’t die if that is what you are worried about. I will return, thay is a promise," Kora said with a warm smile, but they looked at her doubtfully. "I do noy lie, you all know that.’

"Fine, we will wait here, but I sense any trouble, I am coming up there and there is nothing will do or say that will make me turn back," Emily said with much dissatisfaction.

Kora left them behind and proceeded up the hill alone. The time was near, and she couldn’t keep standing and replying to all of their questions. They seemed ready to keep going with the questions just to keep her there. 𝙛𝓻𝒆𝒆𝒘𝙚𝓫𝙣𝙤𝒗𝙚𝓵.𝙘𝙤𝙢

"Are we going to let her go alone?" Rosie asked she doubted she was the only one who felt that she shouldn’t go up there alone.
