Chapter 50: My Hubby’s Design Is Amazing, Isn’t It?

Janice felt a little nervous. "I just took a book from your bookshelf. You really enjoy reading about science and technology."

Christopher was surprised. "I do like it."

"Do you want to work in this field?"

Janice took the opportunity to further ask.

Although she didn’t agree with Yvonne, she was right. A man couldn’t stay idle all day and drink.

Christopher stared at her. "Why do you ask that?"

Janice said, "I just think if you are really interested, you can develop further in this field."

Christopher couldn’t help laughing to himself. Wasn’t he just developing in this field?

"Then, if I tell you that I have already made some achievements in this field, would you believe me?"

Upon hearing this, Janice looked at him seriously and thought, "Is he trying to keep up appearances again?"

"Should I say yes or no?"

While Janice was hesitating, Christopher seemed to understand her. "Let me show you something."

He went to the study and soon brought a small robot model. 𝓯𝙧𝙚𝒆𝙬𝙚𝒃𝙣𝙤𝒗𝓮𝓵.𝙘𝙤𝙢

"I designed it myself."

He put the model on the tea table.

Janice was surprised by the robot. She held it in her hand and look around, saying, "Did you really make this?"

Christopher nodded.

Janice looked at him in shock. Although she didn’t understand the mechanics, she somehow felt that he was very skilled at construction.

"Then...why don’t you continue? Because you don’t have funds? How much do you need? I’ll find a way."

Janice said excitedly.

Seeing her excitement, he couldn’t help curling his lips. This was just a model he had casually designed in his undergraduate years. If she found out about his current achievements, how would she react?

Christopher really wanted to tell her that he was already a top talent in the scientific and technological circles. But he didn’t want to scare her away, so he held it back.

He stroked her long hair and said, "I can handle it myself."

Upon hearing what he said, Janice did not say anything else.

"Well, if you need my help, just tell me."

Christopher nodded.

Before going to bed, Janice took a photo of the robot and sent it to Yvonne.

She wanted to prove that Christopher wasn’t useless.

"Look, my hubby’s design. It’s amazing, isn’t it?"

After sending the message, Janice went to wash up. When she came back, she still did not receive a reply from Yvonne. She depressedly thought, "Hasn’t she seen it?"

As she stared at the screen in confusion, Christopher came in.

Janice quickly put away her phone. However, Christopher caught her panicked action and frowned. "What are you looking at?"

Janice denied. She didn’t want him to know that she was showing off his efforts.

Christopher raised his eyebrows but he didn’t ask anymore. Thinking of the coupons Daniel had given him in the restaurant, he said, "I have a few coupons here. Take them. You can go there with your friends."

Janice found that they were coupons for her favorite restaurant. She curled her lips into a smile.

"By the way, you said you would lose your job..."

...

Hearing this, Janice quickly explained, "No, I mean if." She didn’t want Christopher to know about this right now.

Seeing her flustered expression, Christopher frowned. Although he already knew it, she still kept it a secret.

It seemed that she was still worried about her job.

He said, "Don’t worry, if you lose your job one day, I’ll support you."

As he spoke, he held her in his arms.

Janice was moved. After all, she had been worried that Christopher wouldn’t be responsible. She didn’t expect him to say something like that.

His words immediately comforted her. She was right to protect him in front of Yvonne earlier.

Thinking of this, she instinctively leaned against his chest without her usual nervousness.

"Christopher, you’re so nice."

Christopher rubbed his chin against her hair. Janice was never stingy in praising him.

But he didn’t need her praise. He only hoped Janice would get closer to him, and they could be a normal couple. Whenever she was tired, he hoped that she could lean on him for support.

However, he knew that it would take time.

"Go to sleep."

Christopher gently kissed her forehead.

That night, Janice had a rarely good sleep. After she began sleeping with Christopher, it was the first good sleep.

The next morning, when she got up, she saw Yvonne’s reply.

"OK. Your husband is the best."

She also added an emoji of rolling the yes.

Janice also sent back the same emoji. Her husband was really good.

"What are you giggling about?"

Christopher suddenly came in. Seeing Christopher come in, she quickly put away her phone.

She wouldn’t tell him.

"Nothing."

Christopher didn’t ask anymore. He went to rub her head. "Go wash up and have breakfast."

Janice nodded. She immediately jumped out of bed and went to the bathroom.

Soon, she sat at the dining table and enjoyed her breakfast. Suddenly, the phone rang. It was from Lucy.

"Janice, come to the station quickly. Something’s happened."

Janice was shocked by her words, and said, "I’ll be right there."

She hung up the phone and went to change clothes.

Looking at her worried face, Christopher asked with a frown, "What happened?"

Janice replied while changing her shoes, "I don’t know. My colleague told me that something happened at work. I’ll go and have a look."

Then she left in a hurry.

Christopher immediately recalled what James had said yesterday.

"It’s James?"

Thinking of this, he called Rob.

"Go and find out what happened to the TV station."

When Janice rushed into the news department, she was pulled aside by Lucy.

"Janice, I just saw a group of people go to Director Taylor’s office. They look fierce. Do you think something bad will happen?"

Lucy said nervously.

Janice did not know what was going on. She comforted Lucy, "Don’t worry. This is private property. They wouldn’t dare to make any trouble."

"But, I don’t think they come here with good intentions. Why don’t we go and have a look? What if a fight breaks out? They would hurt Director Taylor." Lucy said anxiously.

Janice thought for a moment and said, "How about this? You go to inform the security guards and ask them to go upstairs. I’ll go and see what’s going on."

...

Lucy nodded. "Okay."

Then, they took action separately.

Janice went to Benjamin’s office. Before she reached the office, she saw a group of people gathering at the entrance from afar.

She was surprised. When she stepped forward, she heard a commotion from inside. "What are you doing? I’m going to call the police."

"Call the police? Go ahead! Do you think that I’m afraid of you? Come on, continue! Smash it!"

After that, a bang could be heard and things shattered on the floor.

Janice ignored the loud noises and quickly ran over. She was startled when she saw the situation in the office.

She saw a dozen of men in the office. They were smashing the things in the office and Benjamin stood frozen inside. He wanted to stop them, but he couldn’t. Benjamin looked angry and helpless; it was a heart-wrenching sight.

He glanced at the onlookers at the door. They were all his colleagues in the TV station, but no one came forward to help.

Janice was steaming in anger. She was about to step forward but was stopped by a colleague.

"Janice, this is not the time for you to barge in. You can’t afford to offend those people inside."

"Yes, Janice. Don’t get yourself into trouble." One by one, her colleagues tried to dissuade her.

But Janice was furious. She didn’t know who were the people inside and why her colleagues were so afraid of them.

But she knew that they were in the TV station now and Benjamin was inside the office. No one should be allowed to do that to him.

She broke away from her colleagues and rushed in.

"Stop!" She shouted at the people inside.

Everyone inside stopped and looked at Janice when they heard her. They couldn’t help but laughed when they saw that it was a woman who shouted at them.

"Hey girl, it’s none of your business. This has nothing to do with you."

A man with a flattop haircut walked towards her. He was the leader of the gang.

Unfazed, Janice scolded him angrily.

"This is my workplace. I’m an employee here. How is it none of my business?" The man glanced at her from head to toe and snorted. "So what? You want to meddle in our business?" Janice said, "Yes, I’m taking charge of this."

She reached out and pushed the leader away as she spoke. Then, she walked up to Benjamin and stood beside him.

Benjamin was embarrassed when he saw Janice.

He didn’t want Janice to see him in such a pathetic state. "Janice, please leave."

Janice glanced at him in surprise. Although she did not know what had happened there, she would never stand by and do nothing if one of her colleagues was in danger like this.

She ignored Benjamin’s words. She chastised the men who were smashing the things in the office. "We’re in a civilized society and we’re ruled by the law. How dare you do this in broad daylight? Aren’t you afraid that we will call the police?"

"Call the police?" The leader of the gang sneered. "Ask him if he dares to call the police."

The man looked at Benjamin.

Janice followed his gaze and looked at Benjamin, only to find that Benjamin was looking away from them embarrassedly.

Janice was confused. "What’s wrong? What happened?"

Benjamin did not want Janice to know about his situation. He quickly told her. "Janice, it’s none of your business here. Please leave."

Janice was in disbelief when she heard Benjamin. "None of my business? We’re in the TV station now. Do you think I will stand by and do nothing?"

"Janice, I..."

Benjamin was about to say something when he was interrupted by the leader of the gang.
