Chapter 78: Feeling Something

She said, "Chief, I think I’m doing a good job in our department. I’m not interested in that program."

However, Chief Gray frowned. "Janice, I heard that you were a top student in Communication Studies. Are you really willing to stay in our department?"

"I think it’s a good job. With so many good colleagues and your good leadership, I’m afraid I won’t be comfortable if I go to other departments."

Janice said with embarrassment.

Chief Gray smiled and sighed, "Janice, I still hope that you can think about it. People should always aim higher. Besides, you are still young. You will regret it if you don’t fight for something better."

Janice understood Chief Gray’s logic.

But she really didn’t want to go.

She said, "Thank you chief, but I won’t consider it. You’d better leave the opportunity to someone else."

Seeing that she was so persistent, Chief Gray didn’t force her anymore.

"Okay, go back to work then."

Janice nodded and got up to leave.

When her figure disappeared at the door, Chief Gray picked up the phone and dialed.

"Director Taylor, I just asked Janice. She rejected it. Can you consider someone else?"

Janice didn’t know that it was not Chief Gray’s idea. When she returned to her seat, Lucy came up to her with an interested look. "Janice, what did Chief Gray want just now?"

Janice glanced at Lucy. "Nothing."

She didn’t really want everyone to know about it.

Lucy was a little disappointed. She said, "Now everyone in the TV station is watching the new program. I thought that Chief Gray was looking for you about this."

Janice was stunned. Everyone in the TV station was watching this?

"Is this show so important?"

In the afternoon, Janice received a call from Rob, saying that the car had been repaired and sent to her.

When Janice was waiting for Rob in the parking lot, she met Denise again.

Denise was surprised to see her.

"Do you need any help?"

Janice shook her head. "No, my car has been fixed. I’m waiting for someone to send it over."

Denise nodded, but as if she had thought of something, she said, "By the way, I heard that you rejected "The Tide of Love", may I know the reason?"

Janice was stunned. She didn’t expect Denise to know about this.

She said, "It’s nothing. I just don’t think I’m suitable."

Upon hearing this, Denise said, "I think you’re quite suitable. Whether it’s in terms of image or professionalism, I’ve heard that you’ve done your own program when you were studying. This is something that not many can do."

Hearing Denise’s words, Janice felt a little embarrassed.

She said, "I’m not that excellent. Besides, I haven’t hosted a show for a long time."

"I believe you are a professional, but I still think it’s a pity. Do you want more time to consider? Anyway, the show is still in the preparation stage."

Denise didn’t say anything else and walked towards her car.

Watching her leave, Janice felt a little stir in her heart.

It was not that she didn’t want to do this show, but she didn’t want to have anything to do with Benjamin.

But now, Chief Gray and even Denise was persuading her.

She couldn’t help but wonder if she could accept it.

While she was thinking, Rob drove the car over.

...

"Miss Gladwell, the car has been fixed."

Rob got out of the car and said.

Janice was very grateful. "Thank you."

"It’s nothing. It’s what I should do. By the way, do you want to have a try and see if there are any other faults to repair."

Rob asked.

Janice hurriedly said, "No, this car is quite smooth."

How could she possibly trouble Rob again?

"Then I’ll go back to the company first," Rob said.

Janice nodded. However, she seemed to have thought of something and called out to him, "Well... how are you going back?"

Rob said, "I’ll take a taxi back."

Janice thought for a moment and said, "Why don’t I give you a ride? Anyway, I have an interview later. It’s on the way."

Hearing her words, Rob did not refuse.

Denise drove her car out and accidentally saw a familiar figure in the rearview mirror.

<Isn’t that Rob Hanson?

How could he be with Janice Gladwell?>

When she saw Rob opening the car door for Janice, she couldn’t help but wonder if they were a couple.

Thinking of this, Denise smiled and drove the car out.

"Thank you, Ms. Gladwell."

Janice drove Rob to the company’s entrance, and Rob thanked her.

Janice smiled. "You’re welcome. It’s on the way."

Rob looked at the time and said, "Mr. Bateman is not busy now. Ms. Gladwell, do you want to go up and have a seat?"

Janice thought that since there was still half an hour before the interview, she might as well go and visit Christopher.

Last time, she had been too angry with her father and had not been able to take a good look at the place where he worked.

Thinking of this, she nodded.

Janice followed Rob into the company.

When they walked to the door of Christopher’s office, his secretary, Cecilia, happened to come out from inside. Seeing that Rob was followed by Janice, she was stunned and reminded him, "Mr. Bateman has a guest."

Rob nodded and then said to Janice apologetically, "Why don’t you go over there and have a rest, Ms. Gladwell?"

Janice looked at the time.

Since Christopher had a guest, she didn’t want to disturb him anymore.

She said, "No, I still have an interview, so I’ll go first."

Rob said, "Then I’ll take you down."

After sending Janice away, Rob came back and asked Cecilia, "Wasn’t Mr. Bateman’s schedule empty today?"

Cecilia replied, "It’s a sudden visitor."

Rob didn’t say anything else.

Cecilia couldn’t help but ask, "What’s the relationship between Mr. Bateman and that woman just now?"

Rob frowned and looked serious. "Is this what a secretary like you should ask about?"

Cecilia pouted gloomily. "You can just say you don’t want to tell me, Do you have to be so fierce?"

She turned around and left.

Just as Rob was curious about who could see Mr. Bateman without an appointment, the door of his office opened.

A familiar figure walked out.

Rob was stunned. Wasn’t this Denise Kelshore?

While he was in a daze, he heard Denise say, "Chris, are you really not going to consider my proposal?"

Christopher was expressionless. "I made it very clear just now."

Denise’s face was filled with regret. "I still hope that you can consider it."

Christopher didn’t say anything, his face cold.

Denise’s expression was complicated, but she said, "Oh right, I went back to the house yesterday to visit your father. He said that you didn’t go back after returning from abroad, so should we find a time to go back?"

...

"I’ll decide."

Christopher said expressionlessly.

Hearing his words, Denise didn’t say anything else. She turned around, left, and closed the door.

Denise came out and saw Rob standing in the corridor. She paused subconsciously. "Rob Hanson, long time no see."

Rob glanced at Denise. "Long time no see, Miss Kelshore."

Denise said, "I’ll treat you to dinner another day."

After that, she turned around and left with a smile.

After Denise left, Rob walked in to Christopher’s office. He subconsciously looked at Christopher’s face and said, "Mr. Bateman, Ms. Gladwell just came."

Christopher was stunned. "Where is she?"

Rob said truthfully, "She said that she had an interview, so she left."

Christopher frowned. "Got it."

"By the way, I just saw Miss Kelshore... Is she back?"

Rob asked carefully.

Christopher didn’t say anything. He only nodded his head as an answer.

Rob did not dare to ask any more questions and turned to leave.

As soon as Janice arrived at the interview venue, she received a call from Christopher.

"Why didn’t you get anyone to inform me before you left."

Christopher complained.

Janice said, "I was just passing by. I didn’t disturb you because I saw you were busy."

Christopher said, "Where is your interview?"

Janice looked up at the construction site in front of her and said, "Delta Building."

"Delta Building?"

Christopher was stunned. "What are you going there for?"

Janice said, "There has been an accident here recently. I’m here to investigate the cause of the accident."

Christopher frowned. "Be careful. That’s a construction site. Protect yourself."

Janice said, "Don’t worry. It won’t be a problem with the cameraman following me." After hanging up the phone, Christopher was still a little worried and called Rob.

"Something happened in the Delta Building. When did it happen?" Christopher asked.

Rob paused and said, "Think it was the day of your father-in-law’s birthday."

Christopher frowned.

Why hadn’t he heard of it?

"Send someone to help Janice. Don’t let anything happen."

The people on the construction site were fierce. It was really not safe for a girl like her.

"Yes."

Rob turned around and went out.

On the construction site, Janice wore a helmet and she was followed by a cameraman.

Their appointed interview time was at three o’clock in the afternoon, but no one came by even at half past three.

The weather in June was already very hot and Janice was covered in sweat.

The cameraman couldn’t help but say, "Have we been fooled?" 𝒇𝙧𝙚𝓮𝔀𝓮𝒃𝙣𝓸𝒗𝒆𝒍.𝙘𝒐𝒎

Janice said, "I’ll make a phone call and ask."

She wiped the sweat from her forehead and dialed the person in charge, but there was no one answering.

"Is the phone off?"

Janice nodded, and was depressed.

"Why don’t we walk over there and see if we can run into the construction workers?" Janice suggested.

The cameraman nodded in agreement.

The two of them walked toward the center of the construction site.

To their surprise, they found that it was empty, and there was a huge banner on the uncompleted building that said: "A unscrupulous developer, return the life of our workers!"

Janice looked up at the strong words and her heart sank.

She secretly decided that she must seek justice for these workers.

In the evening, when Christopher got home, Janice had not returned yet.

He glanced at the time. It was already past seven pm. Even if Janice worked overtime, she rarely came back so late.
