Flash Marriage: My Penniless Billionaire Husband
Chapter 83: Hubby Is The Best
Yvonne asked, "What’s going on?"
Janice shook her head. If she knew the reason, she wouldn’t be so sad.
"What are you going to do in the future?" Yvonne asked.
Janice said, "I don’t know. The TV station said they could arrange some other position for me in due course. But if I carry this blemish on my record, I won’t be able to live with myself, even if I go somewhere else."
"Why don’t you rest for a while? Anyway, your husband is rich, he can support you." Yvonne said.
Janice knew that Christopher could very well support her. However, she wanted to stand on her own two feet.
The most she could be was be idle temporarily until the matter was investigated clearly.
After chatting with Yvonne, Janice felt better.
After leaving the hospital, she returned home.
There was still some time before Christopher returned, so she tidied up the house.
The house was spotless because they had a maid, but she felt she needed to keep herself occupied.
When she was cleaning the dog’s house, Nino came up. Janice took off her gloves and picked up Nino. "Nino, I’ll stay at home with you in the future, okay?" Nino whimpered a few times.
Janice couldn’t help but sigh. She put Nino down and was about to continue cleaning when the phone rang.
Janice picked it up. It was a call from Christopher.
"Where are you?" Christopher asked.
Janice said, "I’m at home."
Christopher didn’t say anything else and hung up the phone.
Janice could not help but frown when she heard the disconnected tone.
She decided to ignore his odd behavior and resumed her cleaning. By the time she finished, she was sweating all over and went back to her room to take a shower.
When Janice was drying her hair with a bath towel, Christopher pushed the door open and came in.
She saw Christopher and was stunned. "You got off work so early today."
Christopher stepped forward and his gaze fell on her face. "Why didn’t you tell me something happened?"
Janice paused for a moment, then realized Christopher already knew about it. She said, "You already know."
Christopher frowned. If he hadn’t asked Rob to investigate, he wouldn’t have known that her reporter credentials had been revoked.
However, the reason was still being investigated.
He said, "I’ve already got someone to handle it."
Janice looked at Christopher with a little guilt. "Christopher, do you think I’m a troublemaker? I’m always asking you to take care of messes."
As soon as Janice finished speaking, Christopher reached out to pinch her cheek, and said indignantly, "What are you talking about? I am your husband. If something happens and you can’t rely on me, who else can you?"
Janice’s heart was filled with gratitude. Ignoring her wet hair, she threw herself into Christopher’s arms.
"Hubby, you’re the best."
Christopher was stunned by this "hubby". This was the first time Janice called him so.
He could not help but tease her. "Who did you say was the best?"
Christopher asked purposefully.
Janice couldn’t help blushing. Although she knew Christopher did it on purpose, she repeated it again to satisfy him.
"Hubby, you’re the best."
"Say it again."
"Hubby, hubby, hubby.."
Christopher felt like he was on cloud nine after being called Hubby. He couldn’t help but kiss her on the lips.
"This matter may not be settled so quickly. Why don’t you take this opportunity to rest for a few days?"
Janice nodded.
Indeed, she had not taken a break for a long time. It was good to take this chance to recoup.
...
The next day, Christopher went to work, and Janice was playing with Nino at home. Just as she was enjoying herself, her phone rang and she picked it up. "Janice, come home." 𝓯𝓻𝓮𝙚𝙬𝓮𝙗𝒏𝙤𝒗𝙚𝙡.𝒄𝒐𝓶
Hearing the familiar voice, Janice was stunned. She didn’t notice that it was her father calling.
"No need. Just tell me what you have to say on the phone."
Malcolm hesitated for a moment and said, "Janice, I know I didn’t do well by you before, but we are still father and daughter. There should be no enmity between us. You have been angry for so long. It’s time to let it go."
Janice was not in the mood to argue. She simply said, "Get to the point."
Malcolm then said, "Here’s the thing. Your aunt has been searching for a partner for Vanessa recently. Can you see if there’s any suitable person among Christopher’s friends? Can you introduce him to her?"
Janice frowned. She knew exactly what kind of person Vanessa was.
"Introduce Christopher’s friend to Vanessa?"
She was not going to be so evil.
So Janice said, "I’m not familiar with her. You’d better find her partner yourself."
Without waiting for Malcolm’s response, Janice hung up the phone.
On the other side of the phone, when Malcolm heard the disconnected tone, his face darkened.
"How was it? What did Janice say?"
Gladys, who was sitting beside him, hurriedly asked.
Malcolm glared at Gladys and said, "I told you that it’s useless to call her. We’ve been rejected now, do you finally believe me?"
Malcolm felt that it was a mistake to make that phone call.
However, Gladys frowned. "Who knew that she would be so heartless? I thought that if she married into a powerful family, she wouldn’t forget about us. But now it looks like she has. To think she is still Vanessa’s sister." Gladys complained.
As Malcolm listened, he became angrier. In the past few days, he had spread the news that he was Christopher’s father-in-law, but somehow, it didn’t achieve any tangible result.
He was even more enraged when he heard Gladys’ words.
"Even if she becomes the president’s wife, she is still my daughter. I don’t believe
that I can’t do anything about her."
As Malcolm spoke, he stood up and walked upstairs while cursing.
Gladys stared at his back and sneered.
This was great. There was going to be another good show.
Janice stayed at home for the whole morning, and she was already bored out of her mind.
Perhaps because of her professional work ethic, she was used to running around all the time, and couldn’t stay at home.
She took Nino out for a drive and passed by a pet center. Thinking about it, Nino had never been groomed, so she stopped the car and walked in with Nino.
She chose a suitable package for Nino and handed him over to the staff.
It would take about half an hour to finish.
Janice could only wait there. Just as she was about to go out to get some fresh air, she bumped into Denise coming in.
"Ms. Gladwell?"
Denise asked in surprise.
Janice also thought it was such a coincidence to meet Denise in such a place. She nodded and said, "Director Kelshore."
Denise said, "We’re not at the TV station now. You can call me Denise. Can I call you Janice?"
"Of course." Janice replied.
"By the way, you came here to..." Denise asked.
...
Janice said, "Oh, I brought my dog here for grooming."
"Is that so? You also have a dog?" Denise looked surprised.
Janice nodded.
"I was just about to come here to pick one. Since you have a dog, you must know a lot. Help give me some advice."
Janice was a little embarrassed. "I just started not long ago. I don’t understand much."
"It doesn’t matter. Humor me." Denise tried her best to invite her.
Janice thought, "Well, I have nothing better to do, so why not?"
"By the way, I heard that your reporter’s credentials have been revoked."
The two of them followed the staff in to the back of the shop, and Denise asked.
The mention of this matter made Janice a little embarrassed.
"You know as well."
"I do, but don’t worry. It’s not a big deal. I believe the TV station will handle it."
Denise comforted her.
However, Janice did not say anything, as she did not think that she would get any real support from them.
The two walked into a large room, where there were many dog cages. Inside the cages, there were all kinds of dogs, all of which were very cute.
Janice looked very happy. She especially liked the small dogs. They looked very cute, just like Nino.
Janice couldn’t help walking over and teasing a poodle for a while. When she looked up, she found that Denise’s eyes were fixed on the big dogs.
Finally, Denise pointed at an inconspicuous golden retriever in the corner and said, "This one is pretty good."
Janice looked over and was a little surprised. After all, Denise seemed to be a very gentle and elegant person. How could she like such a big dog?
However, this was her preference, so she couldn’t say much.
So she agreed, "It looks good."
"Then I’ll have it."
Denise said directly.
"This one is 600 dollars."
Denise handed over her bank card, and the shop assistant went to handle the transaction.
After the shop assistant left, Denise looked at Janice and said, "By the way, you have time now. Do you want to think about trying our new program?"
This was the second time Denise had brought this up.
Janice did not know how to respond. To be honest, she was a little tempted, but she had not decided yet.
Seeing that she didn’t say anything, Denise said, "Don’t worry. You can just give it a try. If you don’t think it’s suitable, we’ll adjust again."
"That’s not appropriate. I don’t have much experience."
Janice knew very well that for new programs, the early ratings were very important. How could the whole group take a risk for her?
Denise obviously understood what she was thinking. She said, "There’s nothing inappropriate about it. To do a show, you have to try something new. Even if it’s an experienced host, we can’t guarantee the ratings."
Denise’s words made Janice’s heart flutter.
To be honest, the recent issue with her credentials had made her feel very disappointed in the news industry.
The media horde didn’t seem to mean to maintain the value of justice.
She was so diligent yet she was met with such unfair treatment.
She thought for a moment and made a decision. "Then I’ll give it a try!"
Hearing her words, Denise nodded. "That’s a deal. Come to the station tomorrow."
After they agreed, they said their goodbyes.
Janice went home with Nino, in a good mood.
She was so happy that she even hummed a song.
When Christopher came back, Janice was making Nino try on some new clothes.
She was humming and looked like she was on top of the world. Christopher couldn’t help but ask, "Why are you so happy?"
