From Trash to Treasure: The Sinclair Family's Beloved Genius
Chapter 275: How to Treat Nuclear Wastewater
"Th-this..."
An elderly man excitedly pointed at the schematics, speechless for a long moment.
Finally, he could only give a thumbs-up and slowly utter a single word: "Brilliant!"
Chloe Sinclair’s drawings were so detailed that the old man understood them at a glance.
However, he knew perfectly well that if he were to try and research this on his own, he would never be able to replicate it.
Chloe Sinclair retracted the schematics and said, "The flow-through fusion reactor was proposed based on the Mark Device. However, the equipment for the Mark Device is already at the most advanced level in the world."
She paused. "It’s not because we can’t develop something better. It’s because everyone knows perfectly well that even if we did, the subsequent resources wouldn’t be able to keep up with the equipment’s demands."
Chloe Sinclair didn’t rush to continue.
The audience below erupted in a clamor.
If everyone had previously thought this was just a press conference announcing a successful experiment, Chloe Sinclair’s words immediately seized their attention.
Joel Quincy’s experiment team had been completely silent before this. Now, they were suddenly holding a press conference. While everyone was expectant, they were even more perplexed.
Because, under normal circumstances, these experimental steps would be announced little by little.
For it to be so sudden, with no preamble, couldn’t help but raise suspicions.
Chloe Sinclair’s statement sent shockwaves through the room, and the group of leading experts in the audience couldn’t help but start discussing it in low voices with those next to them.
Seeing that she had achieved her goal, Chloe Sinclair continued, "Therefore, I’ve altered the FCC and BCC lattices. In the device’s construction, our research team capitalized on the principle that certain metals are highly resistant to irradiation swelling. As a result, we’ve used ferrite and martensite in many components."
Controlled nuclear fusion is limited by high-temperature mechanics, so when designing the device, Chloe Sinclair used materials with anti-creep capabilities suitable for fusion reactors where neutron energies exceed 13.5 MeV.
Chloe Sinclair displayed one data chart after another.
The data within them was vast and complex.
The livestream camera panned to the gifted students sitting behind her, who were scribbling furiously in their notebooks, trying to keep up with the calculations.
One by one, their expressions grew more and more solemn, their faces turning grim.
[Is this data that hard to understand?]
[What Chloe Sinclair is saying is so profound. What’s FCC? What’s BCC?]
[I’m also researching controlled nuclear fusion. Is anti-creep data this easy to calculate? Our team has been working on it for eight years and we still don’t have accurate data!]
[What did Chloe Sinclair mean earlier? The Mark Device is the top-tier device for controlled nuclear fusion, but just yesterday, a foreign country held a press conference saying they’d made the latest modifications to the Mark Device and successfully isolated a controlled fusion factor.]
[Isn’t that a contradiction?]
[Well... maybe not. There’s a deeper meaning to what Chloe Sinclair said. Is she throwing shade at that research lab in Meridia from across the globe?]
[Now that you mention it, I think that’s exactly what’s happening.]
Chloe Sinclair heard Eight reporting the trend of the comments in the livestream chat and was very satisfied.
She couldn’t stop them on her own, but she could use public opinion online to let the situation ferment.
She refused to believe that under these circumstances, Meridia’s lab could continue its misdeeds.
For the remainder of the time, Chloe Sinclair followed the document she had prepared.
Her ambiguous phrasing left those who were already suspicious completely baffled.
But just as the press conference was about to end, Chloe Sinclair suddenly announced, "The third item on today’s agenda: How to completely treat nuclear wastewater!"
The hall erupted.
PS: Just a heads-up for everyone, in June, especially on the first, I’ll be releasing a small burst of Chapters. It might not be as many as you’re thinking, but I won’t let you down.
