Global Awakening: Infinite Gift Pack System
Chapter 257: Operation
Chrisome’s departure had solidified Kai’s resolve...
After all, he knew that this could happen with his friends and Guild Members as well.
He had to prepare for situations like this, even if he hadn’t expected them to come so soon.
’This should be fine...’
The Arm Replacement Implant was his ace. He had acquired it from Terrence, a man who had once been a reliable member of the shelter until he obtained a skill that controls the mind of other Survivors.
In any case, before the man left, Kai had claimed the black metal box that was basically the implant. It wasn’t just a prosthetic... it was a system‑linked device capable of synchronizing with the patient, adjusting its functions to the user’s body weight, age, and even combat style.
Then there was the Hemostatic Vial.
Kai remembered looting it from Alex, a Survivor who had underestimated his strength. The vial was rare, designed to stop bleeding instantly by accelerating clotting and sealing wounds at the cellular level. It was the kind of tool that could mean the difference between life and death in battlefield surgery.
And finally, his Medical Gift Pack.
Needless to say, he wouldn’t be using the Basic or the Enhanced Gift Pack. He would use a superior grade instead.
Inside were various items, including an Advanced Surgical Kit and Trauma Kit, among many others.
The Surgical Kit contained many sterilized items, including the local anesthetic injectors, calibrated to deliver exact doses depending on the patient’s weight and age.
The Trauma Kit also carried painkiller injectors, equally measured, with a guide etched into the case to ensure no mistakes were made.
Kai’s plan was clear.
He would sedate Xinyi, amputate the necrotic arm cleanly, stop the bleeding with the Hemostatic Vial, and then activate the Arm Replacement Implant. It was brutal, but it was the only way to save her... and perhaps, it could also save the other people who might need the same treatment.
"Is it okay to replace your left arm with a machine?" Kai asked softly.
Xinyi was weak, but she knew that this was a good opportunity.
Although she was already happy if she could just remove the sick arm, she would be grateful!
Soon, she finally managed to whisper, "Yes."
That single word was enough...
They couldn’t do this in the open. Kai opened a Basic Shelter Gift Pack and pulled out a small collapsible tent.
Within minutes, they had set up a sterile environment, as clean as the slums would allow.
The tent’s reinforced fabric muffled the sounds outside, creating a safe space...
Then, Kai paused as he arranged the instruments... He remembered something else he had kept hidden away for emergencies. From his pack, he pulled out a small vial filled with a golden liquid.
Mei’s eyes widened immediately, and Farrah nodded in recognition. They knew exactly what it was.
"Alpha Gene Enhancement Serum..." Mei whispered.
But Xinyi and Xian had no clue. They stared at the vial, uncertain, while Kai smiled faintly. He tilted the vial carefully, letting the liquid catch the dim light of the tent.
"This will help," Kai said simply.
He drew out a dropper and measured four drops, placing them gently on Xinyi’s lips. She swallowed weakly, and within moments, her breathing steadied.
A faint warmth spread through her body, with color returning to her cheeks. The serum was working, strengthening her from within!
Still, Kai knew it wasn’t enough. The necrosis wouldn’t vanish just because of the serum. The rotting arm was beyond saving. But at least her body had gained resilience, enough to endure what was coming.
"You will be working for us soon," Kai said, turning toward Xian. His tone was firm, but not unkind. "So you’ll have ten drops."
Xian’s eyes widened... It seemed that his fate was already sealed.
Soon, his hands trembled as he accepted the serum. Thankfully, Mei assisted him. She steadied the boy, guiding the dropper to his mouth. He swallowed the golden liquid, and almost instantly, his body reacted.
His Spirit surged, his eyes brightened, and he felt strength he had never known before.
Nonetheless, Kai didn’t linger on their reactions. He was already prepping.
The anesthetic injector was calibrated precisely for Xinyi’s frail weight, while the trauma kit’s painkiller injector was readied as backup.
"Alright... Let’s start."
Just like that, the operation began.
First, the injection went in smoothly, and soon, Xinyi’s breathing slowed, her body relaxing as the sedative took hold.
Kai’s hands moved swiftly...
They had killed before, cut through flesh and bone in battles against both men and machines. He wasn’t new to this...
Soon, the knife sliced cleanly. Her rotting arm was severed in one decisive motion. There was no scream... only silence.
Blood welled instantly, but Kai was quick... He uncorked the Hemostatic Vial and poured its contents over the wound.
"Mhmm... This should work... if not..." Kai muttered as he prepared to use his backup from the Trauma Kit...
Thankfully, the effect was immediate... the bleeding slowed, then stopped entirely, the tissue was sealed under the vial’s chemical reaction.
Just like that, the tent smelled of iron and medicine. The blackened arm lay discarded, lifeless, while Xinyi kept breathing steadily...
"Next..." Kai muttered as Mei handed over the black metal box.
It was the Arm Replacement Implant.
He pressed the activation switch, and the device hummed to life.
Clink... Clink...
Panels slid open as mechanical joints unfolded...
Soon, the implant latched onto the severed shoulder with its connectors piercing gently into flesh.
The system responded.
Sensors calibrated to her body weight and age adjusted the implant’s framework.
Motors engaged, gears were aligned, and the skeletal frame extended outward. Piece by piece, the arm assembled itself... metal plates locking into place, wiring threading through the structure, synthetic muscle fibers also started forming...
"Whoa... So this is how it works." Kai muttered.
"This is worth 14 Survivor Medals, right?" Mei muttered.
"It’s worth the price..." Farrah nodded.
Minutes passed, and the arm was complete.
A mechanical limb that was black and polished was now Xinyi’s new left arm!
"Xinyi... Y-you have an arm now..."
