Chapter 124: Chapter 124: No Father-Daughter Affection

On the security footage, a group of boys in middle school uniforms came around the corner. As they reached the front of the rice noodle shop, one of them stopped his bike and pointed at the car parked outside.

The boy just thought it was cool and really liked it. After all, it was a Rolls-Royce Phantom.

The other boys gathered around to look at it from the roadside. But then, a tall boy got off his bicycle, looked around, found a sharp rock, and walked up to the car and started scratching it forcefully.

At first, the other boys tried to talk him out of it, but he wouldn’t listen. Afraid of being implicated, they quickly ran off.

The security camera clearly captured the boy’s face. It was Hugh Sutton.

At the police station, Hugh Sutton was soon brought in by Chester Sutton and Mindy Lynch. The couple was also shocked to see Wyatt Shaw and Yvonne Sutton there.

"Your kid is in big trouble. Come over here and look at the footage," a police officer said, calling Chester Sutton and the others over. 𝘧𝑟𝑒𝑒𝘸𝘦𝘣𝑛𝑜𝘷𝑒𝓁.𝘤𝘰𝓂

After watching the footage, Chester Sutton was so angry he kicked Hugh Sutton. Mindy Lynch was also furious but couldn’t bring herself to hit her son.

"Why the hell did you go and scratch someone’s car?"

Hugh Sutton, completely oblivious to the severity of the situation, retorted defiantly, "She’s a homewrecker! I scratched her car to show her that homewreckers deserve a horrible death!"

"You—you—you shut up!" Mindy Lynch was both angry and flustered.

"Mom, let me tell you, I heard it from Grandma. Her mother taught her to be this way. Her mom was a real piece of work, and she—"

Before Hugh Sutton could finish, Wyatt Shaw exploded into action and kicked him to the ground.

He moved so fast that no one else had time to react.

By the time they did, the police officer was rushing to hold him back, while Chester Sutton and Mindy Lynch were indignant.

"I’ll discipline my own son! It’s not your place to lay a hand on him, especially not in a police station! We’re going to sue you for assault!" Chester Sutton yelled.

Yvonne Sutton genuinely hadn’t wanted to get entangled with them, but they were the ones who wouldn’t let her go.

"Officer, my mother is already dead. It’s one thing for him to insult me like this, but he’s also insulting my mother. As her daughter, how can I be expected to tolerate that?"

The officer had both parties sit down. "Alright, since you’re all here, let’s get this sorted out."

Hugh Sutton, still defiant, tried to go after Wyatt Shaw.

The officer yelled at him, "Calm down! You were the one in the wrong first."

"They deserved it!"

"No. You’re a student, right? Haven’t you learned the most basic principles of how to be a decent human being?"

"My son, he... he was indeed in the wrong, but this is actually our family’s business. Officer, how about this? Can we settle this privately?" Chester Sutton asked the officer.

"Family business?" The officer was confused again.

"Officer, I don’t know them well. Let’s follow procedure," Yvonne Sutton said.

Chester Sutton glared at Yvonne Sutton. "We can talk about this at home. Do you have to embarrass everyone?"

"Hah. That’s hilarious. What have we got to be embarrassed about?"

"You..."

"Oh, right. Your son probably doesn’t know the truth, does he? No wonder he can so righteously call other people homewreckers," Yvonne Sutton sneered.

"Yvonne Sutton, do me a favor. Let’s talk about this privately, okay?" Mindy Lynch pleaded.

"A homewrecker who failed to teach her own son how to spot one. Your parenting is quite a failure, isn’t it?"

Hearing this, Mindy Lynch’s face instantly turned crimson.

"What nonsense are you spouting?" Hugh Sutton lunged to hit Yvonne Sutton but was held back by the officer.

"My mother and your father were husband and wife. But your mother broke up their marriage, and your father cheated on my mom while she was pregnant with me. Your mother even went to my mom, begging her to divorce your father. My mom granted their wish, and they were too ashamed to stay in Aethelgard, so they came to this town. Hugh Sutton, you call me a homewrecker, and I can sue you for slander because I’ve done nothing morally corrupt. But when I call your mother a homewrecker, let’s see if she dares to sue me."

Hugh Sutton was stunned, looking at his parents in disbelief.

"Dad, she’s lying, right? Mom, how could you be the kind of person she’s describing? I don’t believe it!"

Chester Sutton was utterly humiliated. But instead of shame, he felt resentment, glaring hatefully at Yvonne Sutton.

"So we, as father and daughter, really have to make things this ugly, is that it?"

"I don’t acknowledge you as my father, so don’t talk to me about being father and daughter," Yvonne Sutton said coldly.

"You ill-mannered brat..."

Before Chester Sutton could finish, Wyatt Shaw snatched an ashtray and hurled it at him.

Startled, he quickly turned his head, barely avoiding being hit by the ashtray.

"Officers, did you see that? He’s trying to kill me!" Chester Sutton shouted, pointing at Wyatt Shaw.

The officer was also taken aback. "This is a police station! You—you need to control yourself!"

The officer was actually quite angry himself after hearing the whole story, so he only gave Wyatt Shaw a light warning.

Wyatt Shaw glared coldly at Chester Sutton. "You’d better show my wife some respect when you speak to her!"

Just then, the people from the insurance company arrived. They assessed the damage to the car and gave a preliminary estimate.

"You... you said how much?"

"One million?"

Chester Sutton and Mindy Lynch were both stunned.

Wyatt Shaw, however, was dissatisfied with this number. "This is a brand-new car, and he damaged it intentionally. Shouldn’t I be able to demand compensation for the car’s depreciation as well?"

The insurance agent nodded. "Of course. And if you sue, they will almost certainly lose, since it was intentional."

Hearing this, the couple was even more shocked.

Wyatt Shaw looked at the police officer. "Of course, I hope they’ll compensate us without any trouble. But what if they try to deny it, or if they simply don’t have that much money?"

"You can take it to court and request enforcement. If they really don’t have the money, you can also ask for payment in installments, but installments require collateral."

"Meaning, the house they’re living in now?"

"That can be used as collateral."

A corner of Wyatt Shaw’s mouth twitched into a smirk. "Let’s do that, then. I hope they have enough money to compensate me. It would be a shame if they ended up homeless."

With that, Wyatt Shaw took Yvonne Sutton’s hand and walked out.

They had just stepped out of the police station when Chester Sutton chased after them.

"You’re doing this on purpose to extort us!"

Wyatt Shaw found this amusing. "Wasn’t it your son who scratched my car for no reason?"

"He’s just a kid! He doesn’t know any better! Besides..." Chester Sutton looked at Yvonne Sutton. "He’s still your brother."

"Don’t you disgust me!" Yvonne Sutton quickly cut him off. "I barely know you, let alone him."

Chester Sutton’s face paled. "In any case, we can discuss this. There’s no need to make things so ugly."

"We’re not trying to make things ugly. Just pay up," Wyatt Shaw said.

"But over a million! How could I possibly come up with that kind of money!"

"That’s your problem. If you want to blame someone, blame yourself for the despicable things you’ve done, and blame yourself for not raising your son right."

Wyatt Shaw continued to lead Yvonne Sutton away, but Chester Sutton kept following them.

"Yvonne Sutton, please, I’m begging you as your father. Let us go! We just want to live our lives in peace. Do you really have to stir up trouble for us to be happy?"
