"I won’t help you."

Yvonne Sutton looked coolly at Candice Yates. "And I won’t be threatened by you. You can go right ahead and find Wyatt Shaw. See if he pities you for that face of yours."

With that, Yvonne turned and walked away.

"Mrs. Shaw, remember what you said today. You’ll regret it!" Candice Yates shrieked hysterically.

Yvonne ignored her and strode away.

That evening, Wyatt Shaw came home very late. After a quick dinner, he went to his study to work.

Yvonne tidied up downstairs, then brought a cup of hot tea to the study. She found Wyatt on the phone with his assistant.

"This project must be finished before Friday. Please ask everyone to work some overtime. I’ll have accounting issue double overtime pay this month."

"Yes, and postpone the business trip to next week."

"In any case, keep my Saturday completely free."

Yvonne pushed the door open and went in. Seeing her, Wyatt quickly said a few more words to his assistant and hung up.

"You have something on Saturday?" Yvonne asked deliberately.

Wyatt gave a dry cough. "Let’s go to the island for the day on Saturday, okay?"

Yvonne feigned a troubled expression. "But I was planning to reopen my clinic on Saturday."

"Oh, no, you can’t! You have to push it back!" Wyatt said excitedly.

Yvonne suppressed a smile. "Alright, then."

Hearing this, Wyatt instantly breathed a sigh of relief.

"It’s settled, then! No backing out!"

Yvonne handed him the hot tea. "Don’t stay up too late."

"Okay. I have a video conference in a bit. I’ll go to sleep as soon as it’s over."

Yvonne went back to their room but didn’t actually sleep. She waited for Wyatt, and ended up waiting until past two in the morning. Just as she could barely stay awake, Wyatt quietly climbed into bed.

The moment he lay down, she snuggled into his arms.

"Still awake?"

"Mmm, waiting for you."

Wyatt kissed her. "Go to sleep."

"Oh, right. I just remembered I have to make a house call for a patient on Saturday. How about we go to the island on Sunday instead?"

Wyatt shot right up. "No, no way! I’ve already arranged everything. How can you change plans just like that..."

He stopped mid-sentence, realizing he’d let something slip, and quickly clamped his mouth shut.

Yvonne blinked. "Arranged what?"

"I had Ms. Young arrange a meal for us."

"In that case, I’ll call her tomorrow..."

"No!"

Wyatt pinned Yvonne down and bit her lower lip playfully. "We just agreed. No going back on your word. Or else, hmph!"

"Or else what?"

Wyatt grabbed Yvonne’s waist and said, feigning ferocity, "Or else I’ll eat you up tonight!"

With that, he lowered his head and started nibbling at her.

Yvonne couldn’t stop laughing at his antics. "Are you a puppy?"

"So tell me, are you going to the island on Saturday or not?"

"But I’m so busy on Saturday..."

"Then I’ll just have to eat you!"

"I’ll go, I’ll go! Stop biting me!"

The two of them fooled around for a long while before finally falling asleep. The next morning, when Yvonne woke up, Wyatt had already left for the office again.

Yvonne got up for a morning run, had breakfast, tidied up the house a bit, and then headed to the hospital.

She spent the whole morning talking with Mrs. Rhodes, had lunch with her, and then went to see Zoe Churchill. Zoe was about to be discharged and would be returning directly to her small town afterward.

"Please tell Wyatt I’m sorry. I won’t be able to go to the island on Saturday, I..."

Before she could finish, Mrs. Miller, who was just walking in, quickly cut her off. "Who said anything about going to an island on Saturday? There’s nothing like that, you must have misheard!"

As she spoke, Mrs. Miller quickly winked at Zoe Churchill.

Zoe was a bit confused, but she went along with Mrs. Miller’s words. "Oh, then I must have remembered it wrong. There’s no island trip."

"Exactly! You misheard. I said... I said before you go home, I’d get you a whole case of seafood."

Yvonne smiled, not exposing their lie.

After leaving the inpatient department, Yvonne went to the outpatient building up front to pick up medicine for Zoe Churchill. Unexpectedly, she saw Mindy Lynch, who was anxiously questioning the front desk receptionist.

"Please, can you help me check? My daughter should have had an interview at your hospital about two weeks ago. Did she get the job? Is she working here now?"

The receptionist was already losing her patience. "Ma’am, I’ve told you many times, I only handle patient inquiries here. If you’re looking for someone, you can try the security guard at the gate."

"The guard said they couldn’t find anything either and told me to ask inside."

"But I really can’t help you here."

"Miss, please, help me. My daughter hasn’t contacted her family in a long time. I’m really worried about her now."

"Ma’am, please don’t interfere with my work, okay?"

"I’m begging you, please."

"If you continue like this, I’m going to have to call security."

Yvonne just furrowed her brow slightly but didn’t approach, instead heading straight for the exit. But as she was leaving, Mindy Lynch saw her.

"Yvonne Sutton, that’s you, right? Yvonne, don’t go!"

Mindy Lynch caught up to her and blocked her path.

"Yvonne Sutton, it really is you! This is great." Mindy Lynch was thrilled to see her. "You told me you used to work at this hospital, right? Then you must know people here. Could you help me ask around and see if Sandra Sutton is working here? Please?"

Yvonne didn’t want to say a single word to her and tried to walk around her to leave.

"Yvonne, I know you hate me, but I have to swallow my pride and beg for your help. Ever since we left town, Sandra left without a word. We can’t get in touch with her, and she hasn’t contacted us. I’m so worried about her. This was the only place I could think to look, but I’ve been staking out the hospital for days and haven’t seen her. I can’t find out anything..." At this point, Mindy Lynch started crying in desperation.

"I only know that she’s not at this hospital. As for where she went, I have no idea," Yvonne said flatly.

"She’s not here? Then where could she have gone? Aethelgard is so big. Where could a young girl like her go?"

"I told you, I don’t know. You should find another way." With that, Yvonne walked around her and left.

"Yvonne, I know if you wanted to help me find Sandra, you could definitely find her. So I’m begging you, please help me," Mindy Lynch pleaded, pressing her palms together.

Yvonne ignored her, left the hospital, got into a taxi, and drove away.

She saw Chester Sutton in the rearview mirror. ’So their whole family came to Aethelgard,’ she thought.

In the blink of an eye, it was Friday. Wyatt went to the office early, finished his work, and came home early.

"Tomorrow, you go to the island by yourself and wait for me there," Wyatt said, hugging Yvonne.

Yvonne raised an eyebrow. "We’re not going together?"

"Uh, I have to go on a business trip this afternoon. I promise I’ll be at the island to meet you tomorrow evening."

Yvonne hummed. Knowing he was going to the island early to get things ready, she decided not to tease him anymore.

"Alright. I’ll wait for you on the island."

They had just finished lunch when David Sutton arrived. At that moment, Wyatt was upstairs packing, while Yvonne was downstairs reading a book.

"Are you here to see him? He’s about to leave for a business trip, though," Yvonne said deliberately.

"I’m going with him."

"On the business trip?"

"Yes, on the business trip."

Yvonne smiled. "Alright. You’ve got your work cut out for you."

"It’s not hard work. It’s just that he’s so demanding. One minute this is wrong, the next minute that is. If he weren’t my best friend, I would’ve quit this a long time ago. I mean, you two have been married for so long, what’s the point of a propo—"

"David Sutton! Shut up!"

Yvonne turned her head to see Wyatt rushing down the stairs, a look of pure panic on his face.
