Candice Yates spoke as she ran behind Yvonne Sutton. Yvonne turned and saw Wyatt Shaw entering from another courtyard.

The moment he saw her, his pupils constricted.

"What happened?"

Before Yvonne Sutton could speak, Candice Yates cut in, her voice full of grievance. "Wyatt, she says she fell down a steep slope. I don’t know if that’s true, but she came back covered in injuries and is insisting that I pushed her. I’ve been completely framed!"

"Where are you hurt?" Wyatt Shaw asked, his voice urgent.

Yvonne Sutton ignored Wyatt Shaw’s concern. With a cold expression, she asked, "She says she was with you all morning?"

"Are you badly hurt—"

"Mr. Shaw, I’m asking you a question. Please answer truthfully."

Wyatt Shaw’s gaze darkened. "She was indeed with me the whole time."

Yvonne Sutton’s fists clenched. "Are you sure?"

"I’m sure."

"Where were you an hour ago?"

"Where we were is none of your business!" Candice Yates shouted.

Yvonne Sutton stared intently at Wyatt Shaw and asked, enunciating every word, "Where were you?"

Wyatt Shaw pressed his lips together. "I have no comment on that. But we were together an hour ago. I can vouch for her. She didn’t push you; you must have mistaken her for someone else."

Yvonne Sutton scoffed. ’Mistaken her for someone else?’

’It was broad daylight. I saw her perfectly clearly. How could I be mistaken!’

At that moment, Candice Yates was clinging to Wyatt Shaw’s arm, a smug look of triumph on her face.

Yvonne Sutton nodded. "In that case, there’s nothing more to say. Let’s have the police determine who’s right and who’s wrong."

With that, Yvonne Sutton took out her phone, about to call the police.

"Miss Sutton, please don’t!" The director and assistant director rushed over to stop her. "If you call the police, this project will be delayed indefinitely. All the money we’ve invested so far will be a total loss."

Seeing the director and assistant director, two grown men, pleading with their hands clasped together, and then looking at the numerous crew members, Yvonne Sutton felt a pang of sympathy. She couldn’t bring herself to do it.

"Go ahead and call them," Candice Yates said triumphantly. "I have a witness. If you insist on framing me, I’ll sue you for defamation."

Yvonne Sutton glanced at Candice Yates, then back at Wyatt Shaw. He was staring at her, looking deeply concerned, and yet he was helping Candice lie!

"Yvonne Sutton, don’t you think you’re being ridiculous?" Candice Yates taunted. "Saying I hurt you? Why would I do that? What reason would I have? Go on, ask anyone here. Who do you think believes you?"

"I believe her!"

"I believe her too!"

Daisy Shaw and Megan Hughes walked to Yvonne Sutton’s side.

"Our Yvonne doesn’t lie. If she says you pushed her, then it was you," Daisy Shaw added.

Candice Yates blinked. "Auntie, what are you saying? Do you believe her or your own son?"

Daisy Shaw snorted. "I’m afraid my son has lost his mind."

Candice Yates clicked her tongue. "Auntie, I think you’re the one who’s been fooled by her. You’ve gotten muddled."

"Who are you calling muddled?"

Megan Hughes pulled Daisy Shaw back. "Why are you wasting your breath on her? She hurt Yvonne, so we should just hit her back for it."

As she spoke, Megan Hughes began to roll up her sleeves.

Candice Yates looked frightened at the sight of Megan Hughes and quickly hid behind Wyatt Shaw.

Just then, Wyatt Shaw extended an arm, shielding Candice Yates behind him.

"I dare any of you to touch her!"

Yvonne Sutton looked at Wyatt Shaw, who was so fiercely protecting Candice Yates, and a bitter smile touched her lips. ’In the end, I can’t compete with Hannah Abbott. I can’t even compete with her stand-in.’

’Fine. What else is there to say?’

’Confronting Candice Yates means confronting Wyatt Shaw, and I’m not delusional enough to think I can go up against the Crown Prince of the Rhodes Group.’

At this thought, she shook her head in disappointment and turned to walk out of the courtyard.

Furious, Daisy Shaw slapped Wyatt Shaw’s shoulder before chasing after Yvonne Sutton. Megan Hughes, her face a mask of rage, pointed a finger first at Candice Yates, then at Wyatt Shaw, before she too went after Yvonne.

Watching Yvonne Sutton’s retreating figure, Candice Yates narrowed her eyes. She then turned to Wyatt Shaw, her voice dripping with feigned injury. "Wyatt, you see? That Yvonne Sutton is so malicious. She falls down a steep slope by herself and then frames me for it. It’s a good thing I was with you all morning, or I’d never have been able to clear my name."

Wyatt Shaw also watched Yvonne’s retreating back, his expression complicated. When he heard Candice’s words, he lowered his gaze to look at her.

"You think she fell on her own?"

"Of course. Unless I can split myself in two? One of me by your side, and another going off to hurt her?"

Wyatt Shaw narrowed his eyes. A thought seemed to occur to him, and the corner of his mouth lifted in a slight smile. "Maybe you really do."

Candice Yates playfully tapped Wyatt Shaw’s arm. "You’re teasing me again," she cooed.

Daisy Shaw and Megan Hughes went with her to the village pharmacy to buy medicine for her injuries. As they passed the Pace family’s little shop, Mr. and Mrs. Pace saw them, and Yvonne Sutton had to lie, claiming she had simply fallen by accident.

Seeing that her injuries weren’t too severe, Mr. and Mrs. Pace were relieved, but they insisted that the three women stay for dinner.

During the meal, Daisy Shaw and Megan Hughes started arguing again. Mr. Pace believed the only way to resolve a conflict was with alcohol; a few drinks and people would start speaking their minds.

Yvonne Sutton was injured and couldn’t drink, and she was also tired, so she headed back to the main courtyard before it got dark. When she returned, she told the assistant director to go to the Pace’s little shop and pick up the two older women.

She was walking from the west gate of the compound toward her accommodations. Just as she stepped into the courtyard, someone shot out from a corner and grabbed her.

Yvonne Sutton was startled, but when she saw who it was, her shock immediately turned to rage.

"Let me go!" She tried to shake him off, but he grabbed her even tighter.

"Come with me."

"Wyatt Shaw!"

"Keep your voice down."

She struggled the entire way, but he still managed to drag her to a small hill just outside.

As soon as he let her go, she tried to leave, but he pinned her against a tree trunk.

"Wyatt Shaw, what the hell do you want?" Yvonne Sutton was already feeling wronged enough, and now he was treating her like this.

In the darkness, Yvonne couldn’t see Wyatt Shaw’s face clearly, but his breathing was heavy, fanning across her face. He reached out as if to caress her cheek, but she slapped his hand away.

"Does it hurt?" he asked.

Yvonne Sutton scoffed. "I’m in agony. Are you going to get revenge for me?"

"It wasn’t her."

"Hah. Go ahead and protect her. My words don’t matter anyway. I’ll just accept my defeat."

"You must have been mistaken."

"I’m not blind!"

"You..."

Yvonne Sutton interrupted Wyatt Shaw. "You said you were with her this morning, right?"

"Yes."

"Where were you?"

"..."

"If you’re going to lie for her, you could at least come up with a location, couldn’t you?"

"We were in her... bedroom."

A sharp pain seized Yvonne Sutton’s heart, but she immediately told herself he was lying.

"Fine. You were in her room, you say? Then what were you doing?"

Wyatt Shaw stared into Yvonne Sutton’s eyes, his gaze intense, as if he feared something yet forced himself to look.

"What’s wrong? Can’t continue the charade?" Yvonne Sutton sneered.

Wyatt Shaw’s eyes narrowed. He released Yvonne Sutton, then lit a cigarette and took a long drag. When he looked at her again, his entire demeanor had shifted to one of nonchalant arrogance. 𝐟𝗿𝐞𝚎𝚠𝐞𝚋𝕟𝐨𝚟𝐞𝕝.𝕔𝕠𝚖

"The bed in her room is huge. I rolled around on it a bit."

Yvonne Sutton froze for a second, then her smile returned. "And how did you do that?"

"Do you want me to demonstrate?"

"Go ahead. I’m watching."

Wyatt Shaw took another drag from his cigarette. After exhaling, he stepped forward as if to embrace Yvonne Sutton.

"Just play along. Pretend you’re her and let me hold you. The grass isn’t as soft as a bed, but that’s fine—doing it out in the open is more exciting. It’s a little cold when you take your clothes off, but don’t worry, I’ll hold you tight. You’re actually curvier than she is, but you both have your own appeal. I did make a little comparison in my head. Her moans are sweet, but your shyness is more enticing."

Just as Wyatt Shaw reached to embrace her, Yvonne Sutton swung her hand and slapped him across the face.

"Wyatt Shaw, you bastard!"
