Chapter 80: Chapter 80: Worrying About Another Man’s Wife, You Must Be Bored

Yvonne Sutton furrowed her brow and got up, walking toward the door.

She reached the doorway and only saw the man’s back. He was wearing a hospital gown and looked flustered.

She pursed her lips. Even though it was just a back view, she could still recognize him.

Vincent Reed.

Yvonne Sutton slept until dark. She saw a light on in the bathroom and could hear the shower running. Knowing Wyatt Shaw had arrived, she waited for him peacefully in bed.

After a while, he finally came out.

Seeing she was awake, he came over with a smile and leaned down to kiss her.

"Your hair is still dripping!" Yvonne quickly dodged.

Wyatt wrapped his arms around her, gave her a firm kiss, and then took the food out of the thermal container. He told her to start eating while he went to blow-dry his hair.

There was yam porridge, stir-fried greens, and two steamed buns. She knew from the first bite that he had made them.

"I didn’t have much time today, so I just threw something together. Tell me what you want to eat, and I’ll make it for you tomorrow," he said, coming out after drying his hair.

Yvonne was full, but there was still a lot left.

Wyatt came over and ate all her leftovers.

"Are you sleeping here tonight?" Yvonne asked, noticing he had already changed into pajamas.

Wyatt raised an eyebrow. "Where else would I be?"

"This is a hospital room."

"It wouldn’t matter if this was a graveyard. Of course I’m wherever you are."

Yvonne’s heart bubbled with sweetness. She murmured a soft, "Oh."

Wyatt first washed the thermal container and utensils, then dealt with some work matters while Yvonne leaned against the bed and watched TV. When he was done, he got into bed to watch with her.

When Yvonne went to the restroom, he insisted on following.

"I’m not an invalid!"

Yvonne shot him a glare and went by herself.

In the restroom’s trash can, she saw a white shirt. There was a large bloodstain on the sleeve. Wyatt didn’t have any injuries, so the blood must have belonged to someone else.

Yvonne shivered, her mind a chaotic mess. She stayed in the restroom for a long while, waiting for her unease to subside before coming out.

She lay down on the bed, and Wyatt naturally pulled her into his arms.

"Does your wound still hurt?" he asked.

Yvonne shook her head. "It doesn’t hurt anymore."

"I asked the doctor. You should be able to leave the hospital in a week."

"Mm."

"Something on your mind?"

Yvonne looked up and saw Wyatt watching her with concern.

"Honey," she called out to him.

Wyatt raised an eyebrow. "Hm?" 𝓯𝙧𝙚𝒆𝙬𝙚𝒃𝙣𝙤𝒗𝓮𝓵.𝙘𝙤𝙢

She looked at him seriously for a long time.

"Tomorrow, I want to eat your three-delicacy dumplings."

His eyes filled with affection as he kissed her. "Okay."

After they went to sleep that night, Yvonne had a nightmare. She dreamed of the previous night in that filthy room, of the scene where those two men were about to assault her.

She cried out in fear and was immediately pulled into a warm, solid embrace.

"Yvonne, I’m here." His voice was gentle yet commanding. "I’m here. No one can hurt you."

Yvonne didn’t open her eyes, but she snuggled closer into his arms.

"Honey."

"What is it?"

"I love you."

"Good girl. I love you, too."

When she woke up the next day, Wyatt had already gone to his company.

Yvonne was eating breakfast when she saw that shadow by the door again. She had planned to ignore him, but he just stood there, not leaving for a long time.

"Vincent Reed, what on earth are you trying to do?" she shouted at the doorway, a little angry.

Only after she shouted did Vincent Reed reveal himself.

He was holding a box of pastries, and he walked over awkwardly, placing it on the table.

"These are the chestnut cakes from that pastry shop on Harkon Street. They’re your favorite."

Yvonne looked at the box of chestnut cakes, her brow furrowed. "I don’t like chestnut cakes. In fact, I don’t really like sweets at all."

"But you were always asking me to buy them for you before."

’That’s because you were always lining up at that pastry shop to buy them for Wendy Winters! I only said I liked their chestnut cakes because I wanted to see if you would ever stand in line to buy them for me! But in the eight years we were together, you never bought them for me, not even once!’

The words were on the tip of Yvonne’s tongue, but she thought better of it and held them back.

’There’s no point. We’ve already broken up.’

"Thank you, but please don’t do things like this again. It’s very annoying," Yvonne said calmly and seriously.

Vincent’s face darkened. He probably thought Yvonne was being ungrateful.

"Are your injuries serious?"

Yvonne let out a breath. "Not serious. You don’t need to worry about it."

"Isn’t Wyatt Shaw so capable? And yet he still let you get hurt. Heh, he doesn’t actually care about you at all. If he did, he would have protected you properly."

"Vincent Reed!" Yvonne didn’t want to lose her temper. "What right do you have to criticize my husband?"

Vincent glared at Yvonne. "I’m worried about you!"

"Please go worry about your own wife, and stop worrying about someone else’s, okay?"

"Yvonne!" Vincent looked wounded. "How can you be so cold to me? You... you used to love me so much!"

Yvonne was utterly speechless. ’I thought I’d made myself clear enough,’ she thought, ’but Vincent acts like he doesn’t understand.’

"I’m planning to divorce Wendy Winters."

"That has nothing to do with me."

"We can start over."

Yvonne clenched her fists. "If you harass me again, I’m calling security!"

"Harass? You think my concern for you is harassment?"

Vincent spun around twice in frustration and anger, then strode out. But he stopped at the door.

"I... I have a stomach ulcer."

Yvonne turned her head away, ignoring him completely.

Vincent said angrily, "I’ve given you a chance. You’d better think it over carefully, or you’ll regret it later!"

After shouting this, Vincent finally left.

Yvonne pressed a hand to her forehead. ’Do I really have to stay in this hospital for another week? Should I consider transferring to another one?’

Wyatt had arranged for someone to deliver her meals. As soon as it was noon, a nurse brought it to her. There was black chicken soup, one meat dish, one vegetable dish, and rice. The food was far from good. A layer of oil floated on the soup, the meat dish was too salty, the vegetables tasted like they had no salt at all, and the rice was undercooked.

She took a couple of bites and couldn’t eat anymore.

Just then, Wendy Winters came storming in. When she saw the food on the bedside table, her anger flared even more, and she actually flipped the table over.

Yvonne quickly backed away, narrowly avoiding being hit by the corner of the table.

"Wendy Winters, what the hell is wrong with you!" Yvonne exclaimed angrily.

Wendy pointed a finger at her, panting with rage.

"Yvonne Sutton, how can you be so shameless? Isn’t one Wyatt Shaw enough for you? Do you have to steal my man too?!"

Yvonne’s face fell. "You’d better make yourself clear. When did I ever try to steal Vincent Reed from you?"

"You’re still trying to deny it? The moment Wyatt Shaw leaves, you have him come over to keep you company. Are you that desperate for attention, that you can’t be without a man? And how can you eat the food I worked so hard to make with such a clear conscience?"

Yvonne stared at the food scattered all over the floor, stunned for a moment. "You’re saying... you made this food?"

"Stop playing dumb! Vincent Reed obviously brought it to you himself! The two of you are truly shameless, ganging up to disgust me!"

Yvonne didn’t know if Wendy was disgusted, but she certainly was. She desperately wanted to throw up the two bites she had just eaten. Just then, Vincent Reed arrived and grabbed Wendy.

"Wendy Winters, if you want to cause a scene, cause it with me! Don’t drag Yvonne Sutton into this! I was worried about her, so I came to see her. I saw that no one was taking care of her, so I brought her the food!"
