I Ascend to the Divine Throne through Arcane Means
Chapter 1602 - 887: Seeking Cain’s Help (Part 2)
The maid walked up to Angela and bent down in an extremely respectful manner, performing a standard curtsy, her voice as soft as a mosquito’s buzz:
"Divine Son, what are your orders?"
Angela smiled slightly and then said:
"Is Lord Burns currently in the castle?"
"Yes, Lord Burns has been in a deep slumber since you last left."
Lis, standing behind the two of them, couldn’t help but grin upon hearing this.
Goodness, how much of a homebody is Burns?
Is he really sleeping all the time?
Once Angela was certain, she nodded and said to the maid:
"Prepare afternoon tea for me, double the sugar, and make more cheesecake and pudding."
After speaking, Angela turned to Lis and asked:
"Lis, would you like anything?"
"The pastries at my place are not much worse than those at yours!"
"Anything, whatever you prefer."
Lis shook his head slightly and said.
"Then let’s go, let’s find the basement."
"By the time I return, Lord Burns should have noticed."
Angela nodded and directly spoke.
This was also the reason why she hadn’t directly gone to the basement where Burns was resting.
Just then, there was a sound of knocking at the door.
Marion pushed the door open and entered, speaking respectfully:
"Lord Lis, Divine Son, Lord Burns invites you both over."
"Alright!"
Angela nodded, with an expression that she had foreseen it.
"Marion, long time no see."
Lis smiled and greeted Marion.
"Lord Lis, it is my honor to see you again."
Marion greeted meticulously.
Meanwhile, a sigh arose in his heart.
After all, when he first met Lis, he was a Golden Rank Blood Clan, while Lis was only a Silver Tier Mage.
However, because of the presence of the Legendary Assassin by Lis’s side, he held a certain respect for Lis.
And what happened later almost made Marion unable to understand.
Lis’s strength rapidly improved, breaking through to Legend in just a year or two.
Marion had lived for a long time, but he had never encountered a situation like Lis’s.
No wonder he became the one to awaken the Divine Son, and the Divine Son continued to follow him.
Thinking through it, Marion could only find this reason.
"Lord Burns is waiting for us, if we wait too long, he might fall asleep again."
After a moment, Marion stopped chatting and said.
"Oh, right, Lis, let’s hurry up."
Angela seemed to recall some unpleasant past, speaking quickly.
"Alright."
Lis and Angela followed behind Marion, heading towards the lower part of the castle.
...
Ascending the deep green stone-bricked steps, Lis and Angela cautiously explored towards the deepest part of the ancient castle.
The stairs seemed to stretch endlessly, with each stone brick etched with the mottled traces of time, cold and solid.
Stepping onto them produced a dull and monotonous sound, echoing in the empty staircase, adding to the eerie mystery.
As their steps continued to move downward, Lis gradually felt that the journey far exceeded the height that the castle should exhibit above ground.
Presumably, the mountain beneath the castle had been excavated to create an extremely deep underground space.
Lis estimated in his mind.
He had visited this castle before and had heard from Angela about Burns’s somewhat unique dwelling, though he had never ventured into the underground area then.
After all, at that time, he was just at Gold Rank and dared not offend the majesty of the Legendary Blood Clan.
This underground space seemed like a giant puzzle hidden in the darkness, enticing him to venture deeper.
As they continued downward, the surrounding environment was slowly changing.
The occasional slight sounds that could be heard from the top of the castle had now vanished completely, replaced by a silence that weighed on the heart.
The air seemed to solidify, heavy enough to suffocate.
The darkness permeating the air was not just visual, but seemed like a tangible substance, entwining Lis, as if guiding him into eternal slumber in the Abyss.
Yet, there was a deceptive sense of tranquility amidst the darkness, like the calm before a storm.
However, this had no effect on Lis, who had mastered the [Darkness] Domain.
Finally, Lis and Angela arrived at the door to the basement.
As the door’s hinges produced an ear-piercing creak, the door slowly opened, and a heavier dark aura invaded.
Lis squinted his eyes and saw an exceedingly magnificent and spacious coffin placed in the center of the room.
The coffin resembled a small palace, emitting a dazzling light.
It was adorned with splendid gemstones and intricately crafted golden patterns, winding around the coffin, displaying endless luxury.
This hardly seemed like the dwelling of the deceased, more like an exquisite work of art, leaving one in awe.
Yet, from the seemingly gorgeous coffin, Lis felt a deeply entrenched sense of Darkness and Blood Domain.
It seems that Prince Burns hadn’t broken through to Demigod, yet wasn’t far off either.
Having mastered the Power of Demigod, Lis sensed the Blood Clan aura originating from the magnificent coffin and estimated.
In Lis’s gaze, the coffin gradually opened.
The heavy coffin lid scraped against the edge, emitting a deep and prolonged sound, as if a sigh from ancient times.
As the lid shifted open bit by bit, a figure slowly sat up from within.
The figure was hunched, their spine bent as a taut bow, seemingly burdened with an endless weight.
His face was concealed in darkness, indistinct, yet his extremely weary appearance was palpable, as if he hadn’t slept in ten days.
The aura he exuded was gloomy, like a dense fog enshrouding the castle, oppressively overwhelming.
Nonetheless, despite appearing so fatigued, the powerful Legendary Aura emanating from him surged like a tidal wave.
The figure slowly emerged from the coffin, moving slowly as if leaving the warmth of a bed on a winter’s morning.
Burns looked at Lis and Angela, slowly nodding and saying:
"Lis, long time no see."
"And you, Angela, what brings you back this time?"
"My Lord hasn’t issued an oracle; you should focus on training and growing. Why disturb me again?"
"Lord Burns, I truly have matters to discuss with you."
Angela looked at Burns, somewhat embarrassed, and said.
"What’s the matter, speak quickly."
Burns seemed unable to lift his eyelids, as if he might fall asleep at any moment.
"Lis was injured in the battle with Spider Queen Rose, and I wish to ask Ancestor Lord for assistance, to see if there’s anything that can help Lis."
"Hmm?"
Upon hearing this, Burns looked at Lis.
Quickly, his gaze fell on Lis’s right arm.
As if sensing something, Burns’s eyes became sharp instantly, his hunched back suddenly straightened.
After a moment, Burns looked at Lis with a serious expression and said:
"You actually didn’t die?"
"The power in your body that’s opposing Spider Queen Rose, what’s the situation with that?"
Burns could feel the terrifying power of the Abyssal Brand in Lis’s right arm, and was quite shocked.
He could sense that if the same power was on him, he would surely die instantly.
The Ancestor might not even have the chance to save him.
Yet Lis currently appeared not to have any abnormality.
As for the power in Lis’s body opposing the Abyss Power, Burns couldn’t feel it; he only deduced it from the status of the Abyss Power.
Also, since most of Lis’s Strength was used against the Abyssal Brand, Burns hadn’t noticed that Lis had already broken through to Demigod.
"Some secrets."
Lis shook his head slightly, then sincerely said:
"However, I do wish to request help from Lord Cain, hoping you, Prince Burns, can assist us."
