I! Cleaner!
Chapter 1366 - 1218: Dead End and Chicken Feathers
Us three... are we going to die?
After a silent exchange of glances with the other Two Pillar Gods, the skeptical Omnia Cicada squinted and said:
"Starling, it’s not that I don’t believe you, it’s just that you suddenly said this... Could you be more specific?"
"More specifically... Do you remember the Dream Resting Master?"
After comparing the "Disaster" intensity on the faces of the Three Pillar Gods, Starling’s face twitched as he replied:
"Since the talk of going to find No.3 started, the aura of disaster surrounding you guys has been pretty much the same as it was before it died..."
"..." x3
Looking at Starling’s demeanor... it doesn’t seem like he’s lying deliberately out of fear of the Food God and trying to slack off? Could it be that our journey really is ominous?
"But disaster looming doesn’t necessarily mean death, right?"
Feeling that the priority of [Father]’s command was higher, recalling the previous incident in the Pure White Land, the Yellow King cautiously broke the silence:
"I recall when the Pure White Holy Mother was planning to ambush the Food God, you seemed to think she was dead too, right? But didn’t she manage to survive?"
Yes, the Pure White Holy Mother did survive, but how is that any different from being dead? Given the Food God’s savage and violent nature, and his unpredictability, he might whimsically decide to turn her into a dish someday. Living in constant dread like that, she might as well be dead!
"True, it doesn’t necessarily mean death, but I absolutely refuse to go!"
After noticing the "death look" on the Yellow King’s face had grown much more prominent, Starling shook his head without hesitation, clearly stating his refusal to participate.
I, Starling, managed to stand out among hundreds of True Gods from the mortal realm, with True Gods dying but not me, Pillar Gods perishing but not me. Surviving numerous large and small disasters, facing the Food God thrice and emerging unscathed, becoming the sole survivor of the Slaughter King Association, it’s all because of my swift retreats.
Being fast is better than being the best, finding a good hiding spot is better than having the best position, as long as I maintain a safe distance, far away from the Food God and his family, there’s a high probability I’ll survive the impending disaster, as for [Father]’s command...
Laughable, could [Father] be scarier than the Food God? Even if she gets furious, at worst, she’ll kill me, but when the Food God loses his temper, he can literally devour me alive!
Looking at Starling, he seems resolute not to join us, indeed.
After exchanging a glance with Starling, whose determination was rock-solid, Omnia Cicada fell silent for a moment and then gave a look to the hesitant Crimson King and Azure Sleep, after which their five eyes instantly opened, and the hazy blue light locked down all the space around Starling.
Though the Red and Yellow Pillar Gods didn’t understand why a move against Starling was necessary, having been partners for so many years, they immediately joined in to form a barrier, with flickering dim yellow shadows and crimson blood chains spreading out, restraining Starling completely before he had the chance to react!
"You guys?!!"
"We’re doing this for your own good."
Extending a palm inscribed with the lighthouse secret pattern, giving Starling’s forehead a light tap, forcibly dispelling the black light brimming with disaster aura, Omnia Cicada spoke in a profound tone:
"You were able to walk on the path of transcendence, thanks to [Father]’s blessing and favor. Now that [Father] requires your effort, naturally, it leaves no room for your retreat!"
Transcendence your mom! Blessing your mom! Retreat your mom!
Looking at the Three Pillar Gods who restrained and prepared to drag him along to the slaughter, Starling couldn’t suppress his fury and roared:
"You think I’m bluffing? Do you know..."
"I know you’re not lying."
Interrupting Starling’s roar, Omnia Cicada spoke calmly:
"Heading to the mortal realm might mean death, but you should also know, if some things aren’t done now, there won’t be another chance in the future.
Starling, the growth of the Food God is very worrying. If he continues to develop unchecked, he will undoubtedly become the biggest obstacle to [Father] completing his mission in the future."
Pausing slightly then furrowing his brows, Omnia Cicada continued:
"In the root of the four opposites: life, death, good, evil, the Food God has already mastered three of them; in the root of the three ’worlds’: earth, ocean, sky, he has initially grasped one;
Furthermore, he’s involved in the dream root in the root of ’Spirit’ three roots, once he completely absorbs these, he’ll be qualified to confront [Father] head-on, so we must find No.3 before he fully absorbs these and cut off his foundation in advance!"
Then why the hell don’t you just dig it yourself! Why drag me along?
"Starling, we need your help."
Understanding Starling’s Disaster Avoidance would be the key factor in successfully bringing back the true No.3, after restraining Starling to prevent his escape, Omnia Cicada moderated his tone and earnestly persuaded:
"Although you tread on the path of transcendence, after all, you haven’t truly transcended, so it’s impossible to break free from [Father]’s mark. Don’t even think about ditching us three and running away.
The only way you can avoid the Food God now is to cooperate with us in infiltrating the mortal realm, help us securely find No.3, and fulfill the task [Father] assigned us. Otherwise... you understand what will happen."
"You! Damn it! Are you threatening me?"
"This isn’t a threat, just stating a fact."
