I Married the President
Chapter 230: What Should I Do If I Want to Break Up With You Today, Too?
CloudScript Books was a den of plagiarism and Lily Yariel’s old stomping grounds. Claire Sinclair had absolutely no love for the site, so she wouldn’t even consider it.
As for other web novel sites, Claire Sinclair really didn’t have any ideas. She figured she might as well ask for opinions on social media.
I want to write a romance novel. Can anyone recommend a website for me?
The moment she posted it, countless enthusiastic followers flooded the comments.
The comment with the most likes read: Mrs. Quincy, we support you going to CloudScript Books! Take down that master plagiarist, Lily Yariel, and fight for the honor of true original creators!
The likes were over a thousand...
’Going into the plagiarist’s den to take one down... seems like a pretty good idea, actually.’
Claire Sinclair thought the suggestion was a good one, so she posted again: Okay, I’ll take everyone’s advice and go with CloudScript Books. I’ll post the first Chapter as soon as it’s written. The new work should be out in about an hour. See you then.
With the announcement made, Claire Sinclair shot out of bed and sent a message to Adrian Quincy: Mr. Quincy, I’d like to use a computer. Can I have mine back now?
Adrian Quincy: Someone will bring it to you in a moment.
That was his only reply. He sent nothing more after that.
A short while later, Nancy Lockwood walked in, holding her white laptop.
"My baby!" Claire Sinclair exclaimed, hugging the laptop so excitedly she wanted to give it a few kisses.
Nancy Lockwood: "..."
After Nancy Lockwood left, Claire Sinclair couldn’t wait to boot up the computer. She checked it over, and finding nothing unusual, she finally relaxed and began to write her novel.
Title: *What If I Still Want to Divorce You?*
Logline: She was tricked into marriage, and now she’s being spoiled rotten. But what’s a girl to do when she still desperately wants a divorce?
In the first Chapter, Claire Sinclair wrote truthfully about how she and he had met at her sister’s funeral. Afterward, using her sister’s will as a pretext, he tricked her into signing the marriage certificate.
After writing that scene, the word count for the first Chapter was just about right.
Of course, in the novel, she wrote in the third person and used aliases, changing both of their identities slightly. It was less awkward to write it that way.
Claire Sinclair logged into CloudScript Books, registered the pen name "Mrs. Quincy," and then uploaded her new book.
Whether it was due to incredible luck or not, her book passed the review process the moment she submitted it. She even received a contract offer via an internal site message.
Claire Sinclair ignored the contract message. Once the book was successfully published, she posted the link on social media.
She wanted to keep an eye on her followers’ reactions, but suddenly, she heard footsteps outside the door. ’It sounds like he’s back!’ 𝒇𝓻𝓮𝓮𝙬𝙚𝒃𝒏𝓸𝙫𝒆𝙡.𝓬𝓸𝒎
’Wait. If he finds out I turned our story into a novel, he’ll laugh himself sick. I absolutely cannot let him know!’
Claire Sinclair quickly password-protected the document and snapped the laptop shut.
Just then, Adrian Quincy walked in.
Seeing her hastily shut the laptop with the guilty look of someone caught red-handed, Adrian Quincy couldn’t help but ask, "Claire, what are you busy with?"
"Nothing!" Claire Sinclair put the laptop down, got up, and walked over to him.
As if by instinct, Adrian Quincy wrapped an arm around her slender waist, pulling her into his embrace. "Nancy Lockwood said you’ve been hiding in your room all day. I thought you were sleeping."
"I wasn’t sleeping, just playing on the computer. How is Teacher Hartwell?"
"What article did you write?" Adrian Quincy countered.
Claire Sinclair froze for a moment before realizing he must be asking about her article, "Is It Stealing When a Scholar ’Borrows’?"
This kind of thing wasn’t Quincy Manor’s business anyway, so there was no point in telling him. She said nonchalantly, "It was just an exposé on how certain companies protect plagiarists for profit, leaving no room for original creators to survive. But then the plagiarist turned around and bit back. I’ve already received a letter from their lawyer."
