I Married the President
Chapter 265: Needless to Say, They Must Have Fought
Claire Sinclair suddenly realized she was in the office—her colleagues had heard the entire phone call.
A senior colleague she was on good terms with asked with concern, "Claire Sinclair, you’re married?"
Phoebe Lockwood also pricked up her ears, full of curiosity about the matter.
Claire Sinclair gave an awkward laugh. "Yeah, I’m married. But we’re about to get divorced."
"Oh, don’t worry about it. A divorce is a divorce. You’re still young, and it’s better to do it now before you have kids. You’ll find a better man later on."
"That’s right. Society is different now. A capable woman can have any man she wants. I support you getting a divorce."
"A woman should look out for herself. You’re such a great writer; I’m sure you’ll meet someone better in the future. Hang in there..."
’A better man? Is there a better man than him in this world?’
Claire Sinclair seriously doubted it.
’Whatever. I don’t care about marriage or any of that. I just need to get this divorce over with.’
Claire Sinclair was afraid her colleagues would ask who her husband was if they kept talking, so she made an excuse to go to the restroom.
The moment she left, her colleagues immediately started to gossip. 𝑓𝘳𝘦𝑒𝑤𝑒𝘣𝘯ℴ𝘷𝘦𝓁.𝑐𝑜𝑚
"Who would have thought? Claire Sinclair is actually married. She hid it so well."
"Yeah, and so young. She’s only 22, right? Already married and getting divorced."
"What do you guys think her husband is like?"
"They’re getting a divorce, so he’s probably not a good guy. Besides, didn’t you hear what she said on the phone just now? His sister beat her up and put her in the hospital!"
"Oh, now I remember! Claire Sinclair took a few days of sick leave a while ago. So she was actually beaten up! No wonder she lost so much weight after she came back. And it was only for a few days. Was there no one to take care of her while she was injured?"
"Hearing you say that makes me feel so bad for Claire Sinclair..."
...
「A certain district in the south.」
Ever since Adrian Quincy called Claire Sinclair that day, the atmosphere in the unit had grown heavy.
The Great Demon King Quincy, normally so inscrutable, had become even colder and more ruthless. No matter where or when, he was always scowling, radiating a chilling aura that made one’s blood run cold.
Aiden Howkins, his adjutant, felt like he was walking on eggshells every day, not even daring to crack a smile.
The original plan was to return to Aethelgard on the 8th, but The Great Demon King Quincy hadn’t left. He remained with the unit, pushing himself on the training grounds every day and doing several times the amount of exercise as everyone else.
Seeing their master in this state, both Aiden Howkins and Nancy Lockwood were worried sick.
"I thought Young Master Quincy would be desperate to run back to the Young Madam. What’s with him now?"
"Isn’t it obvious? They must have had a fight."
As they spoke, the two looked at each other and fell silent for a long time.
Nancy Lockwood let out a sigh, picked up her phone, and prepared to make a call.
Aiden Howkins couldn’t help but ask, "Who are you calling?"
"I’m going to ask Claire Sinclair what’s going on."
"If Young Master Quincy finds out, he’ll skin you alive."
"I don’t care if he skins me alive. I just want to go home already. I miss my mom."
"Fine. Just hurry up and call."
Nancy Lockwood said no more and quickly dialed Claire Sinclair’s number.
"Hello?"
"Claire Sinclair, did you get into another fight with Young Master Quincy?"
"No, we didn’t." Claire Sinclair had an innocent look on her face.
Nancy Lockwood frowned. "Then why did Young Master Quincy become a completely different person after calling you? We were supposed to head back on the 8th, but we still haven’t. He spends every day on the training grounds and ignores everyone."
Claire Sinclair was silent for a long time before she finally uttered, "I told him we’re getting a divorce when he gets back."
