Chapter 267: Chapter 267: Can Something Like This Be Passed Off as Just a Little Bleeding?

Aiden Howkins had no right to be concerned about his superior’s woman, but he couldn’t stop himself from asking, "Claire Sinclair, are you okay?"

"I’m fine. What are you doing here?" Claire Sinclair walked up to him.

Aiden Howkins gave an awkward laugh. "I was just passing by."

Seeing him here, Claire Sinclair guessed that man must have returned as well, so she asked, "Is Mr. Quincy back?"

"No, Young Master Quincy sent me back first. I’m on a mission."

"Oh..." Claire Sinclair responded, her expression unchanging.

Aiden Howkins assumed she was acting this way because she was heartbroken over the incident. He tried to comfort her, "Young Madam, Young Master Quincy has been genuinely busy lately. That’s why he wasn’t here when you needed him. If he knew what happened to you, he would fly back immediately, I guarantee it. I hope you can give him a chance."

Claire Sinclair was utterly confused. "What are you trying to say?"

"I mean, Young Master Quincy still doesn’t know what happened to you. If he did, he definitely wouldn’t be ignoring you."

"When did something happen to me?" Claire Sinclair was baffled.

"Huh?" Aiden Howkins was taken aback by her question. "I mean, about being hospitalized."

For a woman, that word was very sensitive. He didn’t dare say it directly, for fear of upsetting her.

Claire Sinclair rolled her eyes at him. "So what if his sister beat me up and I was hospitalized? I just lost a little blood. I already told him it’s not his fault. Also, go back and tell him there’s no need for any belated concern. I’m perfectly fine now. You should go."

With that, Claire Sinclair walked around him and into the hotel.

Aiden Howkins stood frozen in place, thoroughly confused.

’That’s weird. Why would the Young Madam say she only lost a little blood?’

’Can you really just brush off something like that as "losing a little blood"?’

’Could the hospital report have been wrong?’

No matter how he thought about it, Aiden Howkins couldn’t make sense of it. So, he turned around and went back to the hospital to find the doctor who had treated Claire Sinclair.

"Doctor Carson, I’d like to ask you about our Young Madam’s condition."

"Young Madam??" Doctor Carson was confused.

Aiden Howkins said impatiently, "Claire Sinclair."

"Oh, you mean that young lady. She was supposed to come back a week after the medical abortion to get her report and have a follow-up exam, but she never showed. And on the day she was discharged, she didn’t even pick up her medication. I thought that was strange."

"She didn’t even pick up her medicine???"

"That’s right, she didn’t. And she didn’t tell us she was being discharged. She just left suddenly."

Hearing this, Aiden Howkins realized this matter wasn’t so simple. He asked again, "What exactly happened that day?"

"Who knows? It was Miss Quincy who brought her to the emergency room. And you know who Miss Quincy is. We didn’t dare ask what happened; we just focused on treating the patient. None of us knows how Miss Sinclair was injured. Perhaps Miss Quincy does."

"What else?"

"That’s it. That’s all I know."

"I want to see the surveillance footage."

"The hospital only keeps surveillance footage for two weeks. It’s been much longer than that, so it has probably been deleted by now."

Aiden Howkins frowned. "Who the hell told you to delete it?"

The doctor swallowed hard. "Adjutant Hawkins, I’m just a doctor. I’m not in charge of surveillance."

"Fine. Get back to work." Unable to get the answers he wanted, Aiden Howkins was furious. He turned and stormed out.

Just as he reached the doorway, a young nurse pulled him aside. 𝑓𝑟𝑒𝘦𝓌𝑒𝑏𝑛𝑜𝘷𝑒𝘭.𝒸𝘰𝑚

The young nurse looked left and right, and only after confirming no one was around did she dare to speak. "Adjutant Hawkins, I saw what happened that day."

"What did you see?"

"It was Miss Quincy. She grabbed Miss Sinclair’s arm and wouldn’t let her leave. She also brutally hit Miss Sinclair on the head, and finally kneed her in the stomach, causing her to have a miscarriage."
