Chapter 172: Chapter 172: Will It Affect Vocal Cord Recovery?

Tristan Lawson had once been hospitalized with an injury, unable to move a muscle. Noelle Sutton had been by his side, taking meticulous care of him.

She was the only one who knew his deepest secret. He would never replace her in his entire life!

In the end, Tristan Lawson would rather have the doctor lower his suspended leg and hop to the bathroom on one foot than let a caregiver look after him.

He even refused to eat the breakfast Tessa Lawson brought over, drinking only water.

After that, Tristan Lawson just lay in bed, completely ignoring them.

Old Master Lawson wanted to discuss the divorce from Noelle Sutton, but Tristan Lawson wouldn’t even give him a chance to speak.

He hadn’t been keen on Tristan Lawson divorcing Noelle Sutton in the first place. He worried that Tristan would be single and vulnerable, allowing Sophie Hughes to swoop in—a prospect even more infuriating to him than his grandson marrying a mute.

But what Tristan Lawson had done to Noelle Sutton had gone too far. Noelle wanted to sue him, so for the sake of Tristan’s future, the old master had to find a way to grant her wish.

The three Lawsons stood at the door to the hospital room.

Tessa Lawson, distressed that Tristan wasn’t eating, tried calling Noelle again. But Noelle didn’t pick up at all, prompting another complaint from Tessa. "I don’t know what’s gotten into Noelle. Tristan is this badly hurt, and she won’t even answer her phone. Not even caring about her own husband... I really don’t know what she’s up to."

Nathaniel Lawson frowned. "I’ll send someone to find her. Tristan won’t let us or the caregivers look after him. We have no choice but to get her."

Old Master Lawson didn’t say much more. ’The fewer people who knew about that incident, the better.’ He just said, "Go on, then. The sooner you find her, the better."

On the way back, Old Master Lawson also tried calling Noelle, but she didn’t answer his call either.

Noelle slept for a very long time. When she woke, the sky was already bright.

She had many fragmented dreams. She dreamed of her childhood, of a grandfather and an older brother, but she couldn’t see their faces clearly.

She found it strange because she didn’t have a grandfather or an older brother.

She also dreamed of Tristan Lawson.

Perhaps because of the photo he had sent, she found herself in her dream taking care of him as he lay in a hospital bed.

Noelle rubbed her throbbing temples, unwilling to think about Tristan Lawson any longer.

It was only when she got out of bed to wash up that she discovered her throat felt much better.

Even though Wyatt Yates hadn’t examined her in person, the medicine he prescribed seemed to be working. ’I didn’t expect his medical skills to be this good.’

She didn’t throw up while brushing her teeth today, either.

She came out of the bathroom, poured out the bone broth she hadn’t finished from the day before, and was about to go out for breakfast when she heard a knock at the door.

’Wyatt is here?’

She hurried over to open the door.

A weary-looking Wyatt Yates, with dark stubble shadowing his chin, appeared at her door alone, a bag in his hand.

The moment he saw her, he stepped inside and pulled her into a tight embrace, leaving almost no space between them.

"The Little Mute." His voice was low and sorrowful. "I’m so sorry..."

He was filled with self-reproach and guilt, but more than anything, his heart ached for her.

He couldn’t even imagine what kind of torment she must have endured to escape from Tristan Lawson.

He wanted so badly to protect her, but he had failed.

Noelle thought he was blaming himself for the incident where Tristan had threatened the Yates Group, forcing her to go back with him.

She pulled away from Wyatt’s embrace and signed gently, "It’s not your fault. You don’t have to apologize to me. He’s the one who’s been unreasonable from start to finish. I’m so grateful for all your help, and for helping me with my throat. You’ve done more than enough, really. He’s capable of anything, so please don’t ever doubt yourself because of him." 𝚏𝕣𝐞𝗲𝐰𝕖𝐛𝐧𝕠𝕧𝚎𝚕.𝐜𝚘𝗺

Wyatt’s lips curved into a bitter smile. "I brought you some breakfast. You should eat something first."

Noelle signed "thank you" to him.

Wyatt had bought breakfast right after getting off the plane, so by the time he rushed over, it had cooled down.

Noelle was indeed hungry.

Wyatt opened the food container, and she signed to ask if he had eaten. Wyatt said he’d already eaten on his way over.

Wyatt had bought rice porridge, which Noelle had been craving yesterday but couldn’t find anywhere nearby.

She devoured the entire bowl of porridge in one go, looking famished.

As a doctor, Wyatt knew she must have barely eaten anything due to her sore throat. Wanting to be able to speak again, she wouldn’t have dared to eat anything that might irritate it.

She had even waited until she was safely in Aridia before contacting him.

"The Little Mute, how did you manage to get on a flight to Aridia?"

Noelle explained that Hugo Sterling had sent her to Portridge by helicopter. That, combined with Tristan Lawson’s sudden car accident, allowed her to smoothly board a flight from Portridge. She added that Hugo had even arranged for this apartment.

Wyatt instantly grew tense again.

First, there was Smith, and now Hugo Sterling.

’Are all these men trying to steal Noelle from me?’

"The Little Mute, why don’t you come stay with me? Hugo Sterling is his friend. What if he leaks your address..."

’She went through so much to get out; she definitely doesn’t want to go back to Tristan Lawson.’

Noelle smiled and signed, "I trust him."

’If Hugo Sterling were going to tell Tristan Lawson where I am,’ she thought, ’he wouldn’t have gone to such lengths to get me out in the first place.’

Besides, her marriage to Tristan was being handled through the legal system. The court hearing was in half a month, and what Tristan had done would be enough for the court to grant their divorce.

Wyatt’s fingertips trembled slightly.

’She trusts Hugo Sterling so much? How long has she even known him?’

He instantly saw Hugo Sterling as a powerful rival.

The pressure he felt was immense.

However, he didn’t press the issue. At best, he and The Little Mute were just childhood neighbors. Their relationship didn’t go any further than that, so he had no right to interfere if other suitors were pursuing her.

’Once she’s divorced, I’ll start pursuing her. Hopefully, I can make our relationship official quickly and drive away all the other men who have their eyes on her.’

Wyatt wanted to take Noelle to the hospital for a check-up, but Noelle signed that he should rest and get over his jet lag first.

"It’s fine, it won’t take long. Your vocal cords are the priority. I looked closely at the pictures you sent. It looks like there was some hemorrhaging. Have you coughed up any blood?"

Noelle remembered the morning of the third day after the incident when she had suddenly coughed up blood while brushing her teeth.

She had thought it was because of her cancer.

The amount of blood hadn’t been large. ’So it could have been from my throat after all.’

She suddenly grew nervous, her signs becoming more frantic. "Will it affect my vocal cords’ recovery?"

"Don’t be scared. I won’t let anything happen to you. Let’s go to the hospital now."

Noelle followed Wyatt out the door.

When they arrived at a hospital, someone greeted Wyatt as soon as he walked in, calling him "Director."

Noelle signed in surprise, "You’re the director of this hospital?"

It was a huge hospital.

"Yeah."

He was powerful in his own right, but with the Yates Group behind him—and not yet being its leader—his family would never allow him to oppose the Lawson family for a woman.

As for what Tristan Lawson had said that day—about one punch costing a billion...
