I Stepped Aside for Her, Now They Beg My Forgiveness Every Night
Chapter 59: It Was Actually For Noelle Sutton
Noelle Sutton gazed at the ticket, her eyes welling up.
Of course she wanted to go.
She had come to Cygnus just to see her mentor, but she didn’t dare go openly. She could only go in disguise, not wanting her mentor to recognize her.
Noelle had been planning to buy a ticket anyway.
Since Wyatt Yates had already bought one for her, she reached out and took it, curving her thumb in thanks.
When Wyatt Yates saw her accept the ticket, he breathed a sigh of relief.
Noelle wasn’t an impulsive girl. Her decision to get a divorce was surely not just empty words.
For a woman, a divorce is an incredibly significant event.
If she was willing to pull herself together and start a new life, nothing could be better.
In a little while, his new treatment plan would have its clinical results. If it could cure her aphonia, she could live a good life even after the divorce.
More than anything, his heart ached for her past seven years.
’If only back then...’
But there was no use regretting things that had already happened.
Now that he had found her, he wouldn’t lose contact with her again.
As for what she had been through over the past seven years, he didn’t want to ask. She was willing to give up her own son—it didn’t take a genius to figure out she hadn’t been living well.
After dinner, Wyatt Yates drove Noelle back to her hotel.
"Do you need me to go with you tomorrow?"
Noelle quickly signed, "No, thank you. I can go by myself."
She planned to go in disguise and wanted to be discreet. If Wyatt Yates went with her, he would find out.
She only had six months left to live. She could still do some paper cutting, but the possibility of her getting back into animation was minuscule. If her mentor saw her now, it would only disappoint her more, and she might even worry about her illness.
She didn’t want to cause trouble for her mentor.
"Alright, then. Be careful on your own. When you see your mentor, have a good talk with her. Seize this opportunity. You can do it!"
Wyatt Yates encouraged her as best he could.
"Thank you."
This time, Noelle extended both hands and curved her thumbs together.
Wyatt Yates gave a faint smile. "No need to be so formal with me. Go on inside and get some rest. Goodbye."
Noelle had just gotten back to her room when she received a text message from Tristan Lawson.
[Are you feeling better?]
Sophie Hughes had hit her head pretty hard. By the time Tristan Lawson rushed over, she was already unconscious.
The doctor said it was a concussion.
Sophie was still unconscious now, so he couldn’t leave.
Since Noelle had been discharged from the hospital, she was probably fine.
He decided to text her first to check on her. He would go see her after Sophie woke up.
Noelle stared at the message from Tristan Lawson and was about to add his number back to her blocklist.
On second thought, she decided against it. 𝒇𝙧𝙚𝓮𝙬𝙚𝓫𝒏𝓸𝓿𝓮𝒍.𝓬𝙤𝓶
She had found a lawyer and still needed to communicate with him about the divorce.
It would be hard to get in touch if she blocked his number.
She placed her phone on the bedside table and went into the bathroom to shower.
When Tristan Lawson didn’t get a reply from Noelle, he thought she might have blocked him again, so he tried calling her.
The call went through, but she didn’t pick up.
’Looks like she’s angry that I didn’t show up when she asked for help.’
Tristan Lawson stepped out of the hospital room and called a clerk at the airport boutique.
"Hello, sir."
"That swan brooch I ordered last time—can you help me check if the one here in Cygnus has been shipped out yet?"
"Of course, sir. Please wait a moment. I’ll hang up now, check on it, and call you right back."
Tristan Lawson put his phone away and waited outside.
About five minutes later, the clerk called back. The courier had already picked up the package for the evening, but it had just been scanned in, so there was still time to change the address.
"I’m in Cygnus. If I change the address now, when can I expect to receive it?"
"For a local delivery, it should arrive before noon tomorrow. Usually, it’s quite early."
Tristan Lawson glanced at the hospital room. Sophie Hughes still hadn’t woken up. It was already very late, so even if he went to see Noelle, it would have to be tomorrow.
"Okay, I’ll send you the address. Please arrange it as soon as possible."
Tristan Lawson sent the clerk the address of Noelle’s hotel and left his own phone number.
Sophie Hughes’s injury wasn’t serious enough to cause her to be unconscious.
She was only pretending to be asleep to keep Tristan Lawson there.
She had heard every word of his phone call outside the room.
’So, that swan brooch he got wasn’t for me.’
She had seen the post on Weibo.
Tristan Lawson had bought up every single one of the limited-edition brooches from each province in the country. She’d thought it was because he didn’t want anyone else to have the same one as her.
But in reality, he didn’t want anyone else to have the same one as *Noelle*.
’Don’t the two swans represent their happy reunion?’
’What right does that mute, Noelle, have to get it!’
Sophie Hughes’s hands, hidden under the blanket, clenched into tight fists.
「The next day.」
Sophie Hughes woke up.
Just then, Tristan Lawson’s phone rang.
Tristan Lawson answered the call.
"Hello, is this Tristan Lawson? I have a delivery for you."
"Please leave it at the front desk for me. I’ll pick it up later."
Tristan Lawson put his phone away and said to Sophie Hughes, "I’m stepping out for a bit."
"Tristan."
Sophie Hughes stopped him. "Director Ford’s exhibition is today. You told me to finish that piece as soon as possible. I stayed up almost all night the other day, and it’s done. Can you take a look and tell me if it’s okay?"
This was also very important; it would determine whether Sophie Hughes could become Director Ford’s last disciple.
"Okay."
"Can you get my laptop bag for me?"
Sophie Hughes had come straight to the hospital after arriving from Glenwater.
Her suitcase and laptop bag were both in the room.
Tristan Lawson took out the laptop and handed it to Sophie Hughes.
Sophie Hughes opened the laptop and pulled up the *A Renaissance Cityscape Painting* file.
The night before last, she had stayed at Westhill Villa. After finishing her version, she had meticulously refined it by referencing the original.
That cartoon version of *A Renaissance Cityscape Painting* was the original creator’s work.
She was very confident in her own animation skills. Moreover, she had used the original design for a one-to-one recreation, aiming to even surpass it.
’Tristan and Tutor Ford will definitely see my strengths.’
She found the design file and held up the laptop to show Tristan Lawson.
At first glance, it was indeed impressive.
But it didn’t hold up to closer scrutiny.
That feeling of dynamic stillness wasn’t perfectly executed.
Of course, her technical skills in other areas were undeniable.
Technique wasn’t the hard part. With diligent practice and hard work, anyone could master the technical aspects.
But talent was different.
In every field, there were always one or two geniuses whom most people could never hope to surpass, no matter how hard they tried.
These were the naturally gifted.
Although Tristan Lawson wasn’t in the animation industry himself, he had paid more attention to it since Sophie Hughes had been studying it since childhood. He had developed some level of appreciation for the art form.
He was beginning to understand more and more what Director Ford meant by "talent" and "spark."
No wonder Director Ford was reluctant to accept Sophie.
She was probably still waiting for that student of hers.
Only if that student never returned would Sophie have a chance.
"Tristan, what do you think?"
Sophie Hughes’s eyes were shimmering with anticipation.
She longed for Tristan Lawson’s approval.
