I Stepped Aside for Her, Now They Beg My Forgiveness Every Night
Chapter 78: Noelle Sutton, I’m Not Dead Yet
Noelle Sutton was stunned. ’Am I that bad at hiding it?’
It wasn’t until many years later that Noelle Sutton would learn that someone who cares about you will see what’s on your mind, no matter how you try to hide it.
And someone who doesn’t care won’t believe you even if you rip the truth open and present it to them.
Noelle Sutton still told Wyatt Yates firmly, "I’m really not getting a divorce."
Wyatt Yates’s heart felt as if an invisible hand had clamped around it, nearly suffocating him.
It wasn’t because The Little Mute refused to get a divorce.
It was because he was still so powerless, unable to protect The Little Mute completely.
But it wouldn’t be for long. He would definitely free The Little Mute from Tristan Lawson’s shackles.
Wyatt Yates looked down, smiled, and said, "Alright. Since you don’t want a divorce, we’ll put aside the matter of finding a lawyer for now."
Noelle Sutton signed anxiously, "You need to go back right away. Explain things clearly to your family so they can send someone to negotiate with him."
She had been Mrs. Lawson for seven years. While she never asked about Tristan Lawson’s business affairs, she silently paid attention to everything about him. He possessed immense capital and could make or break fortunes in the business world. Anyone who crossed him met a terrible end.
She once saw a company that opposed him go bankrupt and asked him about it. He was very displeased. He told her that the marketplace was a battlefield; if you didn’t crush your opponent, they would use any sliver of hope to find a way to crush you. Business competition was always a bloodbath. He told her to get rid of her naive kindness, take good care of the family, and not to ask about anything else.
Since he’d put it that way, she figured it must be normal business competition and had nothing more to say.
This time, however, although she didn’t know what he had done to the Yates Family, it was obvious that personal matters were involved.
Because she loved him, she saw everything he did through rose-colored glasses.
She had always thought a man like him, in such a high position, would be above using despicable methods.
But that wasn’t the case.
To achieve his goals, he would not hesitate to be unscrupulous.
Wyatt Yates raised an eyebrow. "Trying to get rid of me so soon?"
Noelle Sutton reminded him, "Business first."
"It’s not that urgent. Let me buy you a coffee. It seems we haven’t ordered anything yet..."
Meanwhile, Tristan Lawson had taken Sophie Hughes to the hospital. The doctor said she was just frightened and would wake up after a little rest.
Not long after the doctor’s examination, Sophie Hughes woke up. Realizing she was in the hospital, she immediately said, full of apology, "Tristan, Joshua, I’m so sorry. I can’t believe I was so useless. I ruined your fun day."
Joshua Lawson reached out his small hand to hold Sophie’s, his tone full of concern. "Sophie, don’t say that! You fainted just so you could ride the pirate ship with me. Dad and I were so worried about you."
After speaking, Joshua Lawson looked up at Tristan Lawson and said, "Right, Dad?"
Tristan Lawson gave a soft grunt of affirmation.
Then, Joshua Lawson couldn’t help but complain, "My mom was so awful today. She used to be so kind-hearted. If we saw an old lady crossing the street, she would take me with her to help. But you fainted, and she still tried to fake being sick to stop Dad from taking you to the hospital. I don’t even know why she’s become like this."
Sophie Hughes’s expression immediately grew serious. "Joshua, maybe your mother just has something on her mind."
Sophie Hughes looked up at Tristan Lawson. "Tristan, Joshua is still young; he can’t tell if someone is really sick or just pretending. But you should be able to tell. Noelle’s personality isn’t the type to fake an illness. You just left her at the amusement park by herself and didn’t check on her?"
Tristan Lawson had tried everything, coaxing Noelle Sutton gently, to get her to go to the amusement park, but she refused.
She even had the audacity to humiliate him.
And yet, she ran off to the amusement park to find Wyatt Yates.
He had been furious at the time and hadn’t paid any real attention to whether she was truly sick or not.
Now that Sophie Hughes mentioned it, he started to think she might have really been sick.
’She must have been in a lot of pain, or her forehead wouldn’t have been beaded with sweat.’
’She’s on her period, and she wasn’t feeling well last night.’
"Tristan?"
Tristan Lawson was pulled back from his thoughts.
’We just had a fight. There’s no way I can go looking for her.’
’Period pain isn’t a serious illness. It’s not like it’s fatal.’
"She’s not a child. If she’s not feeling well, she can go to the hospital herself." 𝓯𝓻𝓮𝙚𝙬𝓮𝙗𝒏𝙤𝒗𝙚𝙡.𝒄𝒐𝓶
Sophie Hughes’s voice took on a slightly stern tone. "Tristan, you’re being completely unreasonable!"
Sophie Hughes threw off the covers and got out of bed. "I’ll go find her at the amusement park. If she really is sick and you just left her, she’ll definitely be heartbroken. Do you even want to make this marriage work with her anymore?"
Tristan Lawson pressed on Sophie Hughes’s shoulders. "You just woke up. Stay here and rest. I’ll go find her."
"That’s more like it. Go on, hurry."
Tristan Lawson came up with a reason to convince himself. If he saw Noelle Sutton and she dared to mock him for coming back so soon, he would tell her that he wouldn’t have come looking for her at all if Sophie Hughes hadn’t persuaded him.
Tristan Lawson got in his car and slammed the accelerator to the floor.
He drove a large loop around the amusement park but didn’t see Noelle Sutton. He had no choice but to return the way he came. As he walked back to his car, he took out his phone, ready to call her.
The moment he looked up, he saw Wyatt Yates helping Noelle Sutton out of the coffee shop, her hand clutching her stomach.
A wave of inexplicable fury crashed into Tristan Lawson’s heart.
"The Little Mute, you’re in a lot of pain. I should take you to the hospital."
Noelle Sutton tried her best to act like she wasn’t in much pain.
She had taken a lot of medicine today, but in the end, it couldn’t suppress the fierce pain radiating from her liver.
’I don’t know if it’s weakness from my period, or if my cancer is getting worse.’
’It must be the cancer getting worse,’ she thought.
’After all, my life is already on a countdown.’
’My illness will only get more and more severe.’
Noelle Sutton removed the hand clutching her abdomen and signed to Wyatt Yates: "It’s just period pain. I’m fine. I’ll be okay after a little rest..."
She had just finished signing when another violent wave of pain struck, nearly causing her to pass out.
She nearly fell into Wyatt Yates’s arms, but a powerful hand snatched her away. She stumbled securely into Tristan Lawson’s solid chest.
Lifting her head, she saw Tristan Lawson’s eyes, dark and cold. His refined, handsome features were as dark as a thundercloud.
He tipped her chin up with a flippant gesture and sneered. His deep, sexy voice was laced with extreme sarcasm. "I thought you had so much pride. Turns out you faked being sick just to throw yourself at other men? Noelle Sutton, I’m not dead yet!"
He practically spit out the last sentence through clenched teeth. At the same time, he flung her chin away but kept her imprisoned in his arms.
"Tristan Lawson!" Wyatt Yates was about to lose his mind, his eyes bloodshot with rage. "She’s your wife! How can you treat her with such an attitude?"
His actions were like he was toying with a nightclub hostess!
The atmosphere was explosive.
The air around them seemed to reek of gunpowder.
Tristan Lawson’s dark, ink-black eyes landed indifferently on Wyatt Yates. His thin, sharp lips parted slightly.
