I Transmigrated Into A Goddess Body In Another World: But I'm a Man
Chapter 11: Divine Envoy
The descending light did not fall like lightning. As if heaven wanted everyone watching.
The silver beam lowered through the torn sky, stretching from the clouds to the palace courtyard below. Wind spiraled outward, pushing banners into violent motion while priests collapsed to their knees across the capital streets.
Mason stayed on the balcony.
He refused to kneel.
Athlian’s emotions rippled inside him... not fear exactly, but old irritation.
’They love dramatic entrances,’ she muttered.
"Of course they do," He murmured under his breath. "Divine bureaucracy probably runs on intimidation."
Behind him, movement shifted.
Saki stepped forward first, expression no longer playful. Lorian folded his arms, calculating. Seris watched with focused intensity, her sharp gaze tracking every fluctuation of divine energy.
Draca did not move away from Mason.
Not even a step.
He stood close enough that Mason could feel the steady presence beside him... grounding, warm, human.
The silver light touched the courtyard stones.
Silence swallowed the palace.
Then a figure appeared.
Not descending but simply there.
A tall being formed from pale radiance and sculpted armor that looked forged from moonlight itself. Wings of translucent energy unfolded briefly behind them before fading into particles.
No face at first.
Only light.
The air grew heavy.
Mason felt pressure against his mind, like someone reading a document too closely.
Athlian reacted instantly...her divine aura rose to meet it, sensual and proud.
’Rude,’ she said.
The envoy’s features solidified androgynous, flawless, emotionless.
A voice echoed across the courtyard without the need for breath.
"Athlian. Goddess of Desire and Dominion. You have returned after an unauthorized absence."
Mason leaned casually against the balcony rail.
"Wow," he said. "Straight to accusations. No greeting? No tea?"
Several nearby priests nearly fainted.
Saki coughed to hide a laugh.
Draca glanced at Mason briefly, concerned flickering across his eyes.
The envoy looked up toward the balcony.
Their gaze locked onto him.
The pressure intensified.
Mason felt something probing; searching through memories, identity, power.
He forced himself to remain calm.
Do not react.
Athlian pushed gently against his thoughts, shielding him instinctively.
’They must not see you,’ she whispered.
He understood immediately.
Outwardly, he smiled. "State your business," he said evenly. "You’re disturbing my afternoon."
Murmurs spread among the palace guards.
The envoy tilted their head.
"Behavioral deviation confirmed."
Lorian muttered quietly behind him, "You are provoking a divine auditor."
"Good," Mason replied without turning. "Maybe they’ll finish faster."
The envoy raised one glowing hand.
Runes formed in the air; complex celestial symbols rotating slowly.
Energy scanned the palace.
Mason felt it sweep past him again.
Athlian’s presence surged forward deliberately, overwhelming the reading with her familiar divine signature.
Warmth flooded Mason’s body as she masked him completely.
The envoy lowered their hand.
"Divine essence intact," they declared.
Athlian sounded smug. ’See? Still me.’
Mason almost laughed.
Below, citizens waited in terrified silence.
Saleem rushed onto the balcony, breathing hard. "My Goddess... temples across the capital request instruction. Panic spreads."
Mason nodded slightly. "Tell them the Goddess is hosting guests. No divine punishment today."
Saleem blinked.
"...Yes, My Goddess." He hurried away immediately.
The envoy spoke again. "You altered established behavioral patterns."
Mason crossed his arms. "People change."
"Gods do not."
"Then maybe gods should try it sometime."
Saki actually turned away to hide his grin.
Seris watched Mason carefully now, curiosity deepening.
Draca’s gaze lingered longer than anyone else’s.
The envoy stepped forward in the courtyard.
The stone cracked gently beneath their feet.
"Heaven recorded excessive mortal interaction prior to disappearance. Current aura suggests stabilization."
Athlian scoffed internally. ’They mean I stopped ignoring divine politics.’
Mason thought dryly, You mean you stopped sleeping with half the continent publicly.
She laughed shamelessly. ’Allegedly.’
The envoy continued, "Council inquiry requires confirmation of loyalty."
Mason raised an eyebrow. "Loyalty to whom exactly?"
The envoy paused...a subtle hesitation.
Even heaven had hierarchy issues.
"To cosmic order."
Mason gestured vaguely at the sky.
"Define order."
Behind him, Lorian murmured, impressed,
"You are interrogating the divine."
"I work in tech," Mason muttered back. "Questioning systems is instinct."
The envoy’s gaze sharpened. "You resist submission."
"I resist vague management structures."
Saki whispered loudly, "She argues like a mortal scholar now."
Mason ignored him.
The envoy lifted their hand again...power gathered; not aggressive, but
testing.
A sphere of silver energy rose and drifted upward toward the balcony.
Draca moved instantly, stepping slightly in front of Mason.
The envoy stopped the sphere midair.
"Human protector," they observed. "Unusual attachment."
Draca met the divine gaze calmly. "My duty is unchanged." 𝙛𝒓𝒆𝙚𝒘𝒆𝓫𝙣𝓸𝙫𝓮𝒍.𝒄𝒐𝓶
Mason felt something tighten in his chest.
Athlian felt it too. ’He never left,’ she said softly.
The envoy studied Draca longer than expected.
Then the sphere dissolved. "Observation complete."
The pressure in the air eased slightly.
Citizens below began breathing again.
Mason exhaled quietly.
No smiting today.
The envoy spoke once more. "Heaven will continue monitoring deviation."
Mason waved lightly. "Send feedback forms next time."
Saki lost the battle and laughed outright.
Even Seris smiled faintly.
For the first time, the envoy’s expression shifted; confusion, almost curiosity.
As if Athlian’s reactions no longer matched recorded data.
They looked at Mason again.
Mason felt a chill crawl down his spine.
Something almost noticed him. Athlian surged forward instinctively, her presence blooming brighter; seductive divine authority filling the space.
The envoy finally stepped back.
"The Goddess remains... acceptable."
The tear in the sky began closing.
Light withdrew upward and the wind calmed.
The divine presence faded.
Within seconds, the clouds returned to normal.
The capital erupted into relieved noise below.
Mason leaned forward over the balcony.
"...Did I just pass a celestial performance review?"
Saki clapped slowly. "You flirted with judgment itself."
"I did not flirt."
"You absolutely flirted."
Lorian nodded thoughtfully. "You
negotiated instead of submitting. Fascinating."
Seris added quietly, "You feel... steadier than before."
Mason forced a neutral smile.
Inside, Athlian hummed with amusement.
’They are confused.’
"Good," Mason replied mentally. "Confused people don’t ask dangerous questions."
Draca remained beside him as watched him intently until their eyes met briefly...he looked away first, thoughtful.
As if assembling pieces of a puzzle he wasn’t ready to name.
Athlian noticed too. ’He sees something.’
Mason swallowed.
"Everyone," he announced, turning back to the room, "congratulations. We survived divine inspection. Please return to normal chaos levels."
Saki stretched. "Does this mean celebrations?"
"No celebrations."
"Small celebration?"
"No."
"Private celebration?"
"...We’ll discuss later."
Saki grinned triumphantly.
Saleem reappeared with new scrolls already in hand. "My Goddess, additional visitors still request an audience."
Mason stared at him. "...Of course they do."
Athlian laughed loudly inside his mind.
The palace began moving again; servants rushing, guards reorganizing, lovers exchanging knowing looks.
Political reality returned instantly. But Draca didn’t move, he stepped closer instead, voice low enough that only Mason could hear.
"You were not afraid."
Mason shrugged lightly. "Panicking never fixes meetings."
Draca studied him...longer than comfortable.
"The Goddess I served before," he said carefully, "would have burned the sky before negotiating."
Mason froze internally.
Athlian grew very quiet.
Draca continued softly, almost to himself.
"You changed... when you woke up."
Mason forced a calm expression.
"People evolve."
Draca nodded slowly.
But his eyes said he wasn’t satisfied.
He bowed slightly and stepped back, returning to formal distance.
Yet something had shifted.
A seed has been planted...the first crack in the secret.
Mason watched him go, unease settling in his chest.
Athlian whispered gently, ’He will be the first to know.’
Mason didn’t answer because deep down...He already felt it too.
Across the sky, far beyond mortal sight, the closing tear flickered once more.
And somewhere within heaven...A voice spoke quietly.
"Observation incomplete."
The silver light pulsed again; not toward Athlian.
Toward the anomaly hidden inside her.
And this time...The watcher began searching for someone else...
