Chapter 45: Time to get some booze
"They didn’t evacuate the people," Kael said as he stood at the edge of the town, looking at the town that was getting attacked.
Violet frowned. She clenched her fist. "Robert, he wants to use the people to foster his narrative. He wants to allow them to die in order to ensure he can use it to his benefit."
"A despicable human this is," Guu said. "I would love to cut his head off."
"Not for now, Guu. Sigh." Kael let out a sigh and looked at the sky for a moment. "I wished it would not have to come to this so early," he muttered, "but there is nothing we can do about it. We have to break into the town."
As he said those words, he looked at his army of monsters and passed an instruction with one thought.
"Attack harder and take them down, all of them. Spare no one."
Guu and Lilith heard that instruction as well. They looked at each other for a moment as if having some unspoken conversation and then focused back on the war that was in front of them.
"Lilith, you and Guu will join the battle and cut them down fast. A swift death is the only mercy I can give at this point.
Violet and I will head into the town, and we will find William and save him."
"I see. Do you wish for us to go all out here?" Lilith asked.
"Yeah, show them the strength of our dungeon. Show them our rage. You do not harm who I have called a friend."
"Hey, can I get the human booze when I am done with this?" Guu asked and stepped forward.
"Huh? You like booze?" Kael asked.
"Oh yes, haha. Humans are good for one thing, and that’s booze."
"Hmm, I did expect this, but yes, drink all you want, and maybe bring some back for me as well," Kael said.
"Haha, will do," Guu said in a loud, thundering voice and then leaped into the air, landing right in the midst of the battle.
BOOM!
The ground trembled at his arrival. Adventurers all around him paused when they saw him, stunned to their core at that moment. They could feel the power that was emanating from his figure. He was a small mountain that would surely prove to be unmovable.
"I’ll take my leave then as well. I hope it all works in your favor as well," Lilith said. She took one step forward and then vanished, reaching the battlefield in an instant. She did not pack as much umph as Guu had in his attack, but her presence was felt the very moment that she arrived.
"Alright, Violet, let’s go and save William," Kael said and moved. Violet nodded and followed behind. He wanted to use the very far edge of the battle, going around rather than through. It would take a bit more time, but would be safer and meant they did not have to fight anyone until they got there.
[....]
Guu stood at the center of the battle. He watched the humans look at him with eyes that said it all.
The average adventurer in the town was Copper, and a few were in Iron. The best of their best were in Silver, and even those in Silver would not dare take on a Floor Five boss.
The party that had killed Jim before only managed to do so because of their exceptional teamwork and the fact that the leader, Silva, somehow managed to have an ability that could pack enough punch to take him down.
RAWRRRRRRRRRRRR! 𝙛𝒓𝒆𝙚𝒘𝒆𝓫𝙣𝓸𝙫𝓮𝒍.𝒄𝒐𝓶
Guu roared so loud he caused the sky to tremble. He released shockwaves that caused the adventurers to step back.
"Time to get some boooze!" he yelled, but their fear made them hear it as a roar and nothing else. He pulled his arm back with the cleaver in his hand, his gaze locked onto the group of adventurers that were in front of him. He let out a grin and then went for the swing.
Their fear showed on their faces in that moment, scared to their core, so much so that they could not even make a move as the blade slashed into their bodies, and what followed was a rain of blood.
"What the hell are you all doing?! Get yourselves together and fight!" a young man’s voice echoed close by. Guu turned around and saw him in the air, blonde hair and blue eyes, decked in full light armor and a spear in his hands.
"Die, you monster!" he roared as he thrust the spear with all that he had. The tip of the spear erupted with flames as it came down for Guu.
Guu reacted normally. He pulled his blade to the front and blocked the attack.
Bam
BOOM!
The moment the tip of the spear met with the cleaver, a massive explosion ripped through the air.
The young man landed a few meters back and watched the cloud of smoke and flames die out, thinking he had done something, only for a cleaver to cut through the smoke and come right for him.
When he saw the blade, he reacted as fast as he could, pushing himself off the ground into the air. The cleaver hit the ground and blasted debris in all directions. He thought he had escaped one attack only for Guu to let go of the cleaver and grab him by the leg, pulling him down and slamming him into the ground hard.
The young man let out an airless cough as he bounced off the floor. He clutched at the ground and air but had nothing to hold onto. Guu then proceeded to charge in with his knee, ready to end it all, but then out of nowhere a fighter moved and grabbed the young man, escaping with him.
Then another figure appeared, Ragna, with his hammer in his hand. He looked at Guu and smiled.
"Haha, seems we meet again. Who would have thought."
