Interstellar Number One Farmer: I Only Want To Farm!
Chapter 541 - 164: Confronted on the Road 3
Xing Miao and Feng Wansha exchanged a glance, they could almost imagine Su Xiaocai’s future life.
Sitting far behind, in front of a large bamboo forest field, with a small stool under her and a good tea in her hands, munching on crispy peanuts.
Watching them sweat on TV, she enjoys life to the fullest.
"The Mother is still easy to handle, you all need to work hard and catch up with the strength of the Insect Man Warriors, understand?"
Su Xiaocai received another tight hug and her face beamed with joy.
The two Majors thought: Since when was the Insect Mother easy to deal with? Ridiculous, just saying anything.
But it was Su Xiaocai who spoke.
It makes sense, someone merely in their teens can handle an Insect Man, indeed it’s easy.
After chatting for a while, they bid farewell to Su Xiaocai, heading back to their dorms to organize themselves and then work on their Mechas later.
On the way back, the Vegetable Farmers encountered people from Yun Ji, who stood in front of the dormitory building, seeming as if they were waiting for an accidental meeting.
In fact, the Vegetable Farmers didn’t quite understand why Yun Ji had sought them out. They were already famous and there must be plenty of big companies wanting to hire them.
Registering as mercenaries meant giving up on joining the Military Department, and based on how they operated, it didn’t seem like they came to gather intelligence.
Squirrel put on a friendly smile, with a cute baby face similar to Li Shanchun, but once he spoke, it was different.
Li Shanchun spoke with a deep masculine tone.
Squirrel’s voice was gentle, like a charming young gentleman, with soft eyes that seemed as gentle as a small animal.
Their captain was an extremely charismatic thirty-year-old, with stubble on his chin that added to his masculinity rather than making him look haggard. Code name: Fei Ying,
Big Demon was there too, still dressed in a long skirt with the hem covered in dust, probably having done some hard labor.
His hairstyle might have gotten a bit messy, as he was fixing his hair in front of a mirror.
"Hello." Squirrel enthusiastically shook Ji Heng’s hand, his gaze sweeping around, "Coach Su is here too, right? I really admire her."
Hu Ping and Wu Feiyang simultaneously had a gut feeling of caution, silently thinking this guy had ulterior motives.
"She’s not with us."
"May I ask where she is? Was the Mecha from last night’s battle hers? I’d like to meet her, can you introduce me?" Squirrel fired off a string of questions.
Not only were the Vegetable Farmers confused, but Fei Ying also felt despair; the intent to flirt was too obvious, eyes filled with ambition.
Squirrel pursued girls with sheer passion, without any other methods, yet many girls fell for it, though they would break up soon after dating.
Squirrel purely played around, fickle as a carrot, falling for one girl after another, Su Xiaocai being the one he had been infatuated with the longest because he couldn’t meet her.
The harder to get, the more he obsessed over it.
"Sorry, her movements are confidential. If you want to know, ask an officer." Ji Heng stepped in to refuse.
Fei Ying dragged him and apologized to Ji Heng, "He’s a bit thoughtless, please excuse him. We’re not trying to find out Su Xiaocai’s whereabouts, we simply like her a lot."
With that, he pushed Squirrel away, thinking as long as Su Xiaocai was on Blue Star, they’d always know. There was no need to be so anxious; they practically announced Yun Ji came for Su Xiaocai.
Knowing Su Xiaocai was akin to keeping up with the highest technology, a huge upgrade in artillery would be no exaggeration.
The Vegetable Farmers scratched their heads collectively, "What’s wrong with Yun Ji’s people?"
"So weird, what man dresses like that?" Wu Feiyang wasn’t fond of Big Demon’s choice of attire, unable to agree with a straight man’s aesthetic.
"Looks good, a lot of girls’ clothes are indeed very pretty." Hu Ping didn’t mind it, finding Big Demon’s strength and appearance noteworthy; the rugged look just didn’t quite match the dress.
Elsewhere, Yun Ji’s Fei Ying pointed at Squirrel’s head, "Pighead, can’t you tone down your personality and try being friends with the Vegetable Farmers first?" They didn’t come to Blue Star for charity.
Winning Su Xiaocai’s friendship was their ultimate goal.
Unaware that Yun Ji had their eyes on them, Su Xiaocai went to another lab entrance, as Min Family’s private hospital had been overrun, all evidence destroyed in the Insect Man flood.
Whether intentionally or unintentionally, a fire broke out, burning everything to ashes, turning much into dust.
The fire might have been partly caused by the Insect Men; according to living patients, they had seen a fire-breathing Insect Man break into the hospital lobby.
Now that the patients were moved, it was up to others to question them; hopefully, the Law Enforcement Department would take it seriously.
The hospital buildings were mostly gone, only some foundations remained intact.
The sealed-off area was the laboratory entrance, very concealed; if someone hadn’t dug down with a shovel and hit a tunnel, they wouldn’t have found it.
This entrance was outside, part of a rental property built by the Min Family; many tenants were patients, renting nearby due to insufficient hospital beds, trying to stay close for medical treatment.
Indeed, a big hidden city, with all sorts of people coming and going.
Su Xiaocai dressed anew in disposable shoe covers, gloves, and a mask, just about to enter when she was stopped.
"Hey, who are you? Get out." It was a skinny man with a monkey-like face that blocked Su Xiaocai’s path.
"I’m one of the heads of Blue Star Rescue Center, and this is Professor Su, here to investigate the lab," an employee explained quickly.
"I don’t care who she is; our professor is in charge of the lab investigation, you can’t go in."
"Blue Star is under Admiral Bai’s management, yet we don’t know of any official in charge of lab investigations?" The two Majors stepped forward, towering over the skinny monkey.
"Where’s your ID?"
The skinny man was stunned. "What ID? I’m here with the professor, I don’t need an ID."
"Anyone from the forensic department needs an ID to enter the site for evidence collection; without one, you’re illegally trespassing." The staff member kept a serious face, with Blue Star facing enormous challenges, yet this guy seemed to treat it as a joke.
The skinny man swallowed nervously, feeling somewhat intimidated.
By their attire, he knew he was facing two Majors.
With the accompaniment of Majors, surely the person must be dignified.
But recalling the professor told him to guard the gate, he puffed his chest, confidently said, "I’m just doing my job, you can’t destroy the site. Unless the professors are all set, you can’t just go in. Judging by your appearance, seems like a kid from the forensic department, go play somewhere else; not just anyone can enter here, don’t cause any trouble."
Su Xiaocai pulled out an ID from her jacket pocket which read, "Insect Man Special Research Team’s Chief Commander," "Forensic Department External Expert," "Military Technical Advisor."
It granted her temporary Chief Command beyond Blue Star Military’s jurisdiction.
Beneath was a military QR code to verify authenticity.
She twitched her mouth, the green card looking like a toy, luckily it was stamped.
"Regardless of who he is, my authority exceeds his." Su Xiaocai held up the ID, "If you have any objections, keep quiet; I don’t want to resort to force. Also, judging by your poorly professional outfit, I’m expelling you from the sealed area."
Su Xiaocai exchanged glances with the Majors, unsure where this person came from, finding the forensic department unreliable.
The skinny man struggled, wanting to shout and accuse the Majors of using force.
But there were no reporters, not even any bystanders.
Being a place marked as having an Insect Mother, not even a foolish deer would wander in to watch.
Wherever there’s a Mother, the mortality rate for ordinary people is 99.9%; the remaining 0.1% is likely being consumed.
Until the area was cleared, no ordinary person was allowed to step inside.
Driven by a mysterious impulse, Su Xiaocai snapped a photo of him; she had some impression of the person before her.
She wouldn’t deliberately remember faces, but for those she had spoken to, she would have a memory.
As hideous as he was, she had probably only encountered one or two. She sent the photo to Yu Haoming.
Yu Haoming replied shortly, "My former roommate, Skinny Monkey. I don’t know his real name; we weren’t close. Heard he was planning to start a business partnership, so how did he end up at Blue Star."
