Chapter 42: Chapter 42 - Surprise Raid (5)

Vincent silently climbed up the stairs.

Soon, he found himself walking into the hallway. He looked around, his ears picking up the faint sounds coming from the rooms around him.

It was the result of his newly acquired superpower. Enhanced Senses.

Especially sight, smell and sound.

Vincent ignored the people in the rooms. They were mostly the Rick customers of the nightclub.

After walking straight in the hallway, he saw the shape corner in front of him.

At the same time, his ears picked up the sounds of footsteps coming from it.

He could hear himself breathe. Feel the sweat trickle from the poles of his underarms. Taste of the iron inside his mouth, likely from the blood he consumed earlier.

’Don’t hesitate.’ Vincent reminded himself.

He lifted up the gun and waited for footsteps to get closer. As soon as the figure emerged from the corner, Vincent fired the gun.

The bullet travelled through the air and struck at the man’s chest. He yelled in pain.

People behind him stopped and took cover immediately.

Vincent sighed and walked closer to the corner.

Now, the table turned. They were the one waiting for him to come out.

But unlike them, Vincent held the advantages of seeing in the dark. In the darkness, they couldn’t even produce the flashlight due to the work of EMP.

But while, Vincent had both night vision and his improved eyes from the superpower.

He could see everything clearly.

"Ah.... Help me... ah..." The man on the ground pleaded to his men, covering up his bleeding stomach.

Vincent ignored the pathetic sight. And entered the room close to him.

It was empty. His eyes moved around and found the perfect decoy.

A bottle of alcohol.

He smiled and picked up, carefully leaving the room. He then walked toward the corner alerting the hiding men of Eric with his footsteps.

He then synchronized the sound of his footsteps and stopped on the edge of the corner, throwing out the bottle.

Immediately, the sound and light of the guns flashed up the hallway.

"Die."

"Haha."

"Fuck you, do you think you can kill us?"

"I will fucking murder your family myself."

Judging by the sounds, there were four men in the corner.

Vincent lowered his body and stopped outside, pushing his body to the nearest person.

With his newly enhanced physique, he quickly threw the first man on the ground with one arm. He used the free arm and pulled the trigger.

The bullet travelled and reached the second man’s thigh. The man screamed out.

Vincent wasn’t done yet and fired again at the two other men.

Bang! Bang! Bang!

Everyone in the hallway collapsed, clenching their wounds and yelling in pain.

Vincent didn’t kill them but he aimed at the place where they would feel the most pain.

Was it cruel of him?

Or was it the kindness that he displayed?

He didn’t know. Vincent didn’t want to confront this.

So, he moved on.

"I see movement in the sewage pipe. I think we are in plan A." Werewolf’s voice echoed inside his head.

"Don’t sound happy yet. Confirm the person first." Jason said.

Vincent didn’t answer and continued running. He faced another group of men but with the same tactics, he disarmed them and let them face the pain.

The reason he could do this kind of thing despite having zero experience was because of two things.

Environmental advantages. The darkness helped a lot.

And the other reason was his newly acquired strength.

"Bad news, guys." Werewolf said.

"Don’t delay it, Hero." Jason sounded, his voice exhausted.

Vincent didn’t know how many enemies he encountered from the raid. Must be in 40 numbers.

After all, according to the information from Silas, Eric usually resided in the left pathway. So, it was natural that he would encounter more enemies than Vincent.

"I only saw Rhino." Werewolf said. "Sorry guy, I think I have to transform and face him."

"Don’t worry about it. Just focus on defeating Rhino." Jason said. "I don’t see Eric in my way either. The chance of him using another escape route was low since nothing with the electricity worked here. So his aim must be at the front door."

"Vincent." Jason called him.

"Yeah."

"Retreat from the attack and go guard the entrance. Don’t let anyone enter or leave. Shot everyone."

"Got it." Vincent followed the order of his senior detective and turned around. Maybe due to his superpower or the adrenaline was helping him, he moved quickly.

He arrived at the first floor and waited.

He hid underneath the table and waited.

"Fuck. Fuck. Fuck. I am going to kill them. I am definitely going to kill them."

"Relax boss. The entrance is close. My guess is correct that there aren’t a lot of people in this operation. They must be afraid of your network."

"Hmph..., they better be. I spent about 2 million. Fuck.. Fuck. Fuck. My reputation is going to get ruined."

The fat man climbed down the stairs in a hurry, his breath was abnormal, showing signs of tiredness.

The man in front of him was calm and collected, only responding to Eric with an unchanging tone. It was almost like he was a baby sitting a young arrogant child.

"Boss, I think you should lower your voice. There could be some traps here." The bodyguard gave advice.

Eric glanced at the bodyguard and smacked his head but due to the difference in height, he only reached the shoulder.

"Shut up, now you are lecturing me."

"Come on, boss. You pay me to keep you alive. And I saved you many times, boss."

"So what."

The bodyguard sighed and shook his head. Judging from the sound he made, Vincent could guess that the two exchanged this kind of conversation many times in the past.

Vincent moved his gun and fired it, aiming at Eric’s legs.

The instant the bullet travelled, the bodyguard moved his body, taking out the long katana from his side.

He sliced through the bullet but one of the pieces sliced from the pathway of his blade and pierced to Eric’s leg.

Eric lost control of his body due to the immense hot pain and stumbled forward, rolling down the staircase in a comical manner.

"Fuck. Fuck. Shit. What are you doing, Daniel?"

"Sorry, boss. I am not adjusted to the darkness yet. But lower your voice boss, someone is targeting you here. I suggest you get away from this open space and enter the room."

The veins on Eric’s forehead popped out and he lifted up his head, yelling at Daniel.

"I can’t walk with this leg."

Vincent fired another bullet, this time he aimed at Eric’s head to see something.

Like before, the katana sliced off the bullets in half, allowing Eric to escape from the hands of Death.

"Go, boss. Use your determination to survive." Daniel said, not changing his tone. He was treating his act of slicing up bullets as if it was normal.

Vincent fired a series of bullets and all were deflected, sliced off or dodged by Daniel.

Eric finally listened to his bodyguard and crawled toward one of the rooms on the right side and closed the door.

"Hurry up and kill that man. I want his head." Before he closed the door, Eric ordered.

Daniel scratched his head and let out a defeated sigh. 𝒇𝙧𝙚𝓮𝔀𝓮𝒃𝙣𝓸𝒗𝒆𝒍.𝙘𝒐𝒎

"I don’t like gore." He muttered.
