Chapter 10: Daily Life of Beast Cultivation

Lin Yuan walked out of the medic hall, going towards the mountain searching for food and beasts. The morning gust howled with a loud hush, whipping Lin Yuan’s hair sideways. But first Lin Yuan has a Rank 2 beast core and 20 essence stones. Lin Yuan gently walked towards a tree, and sat under that tree.

"Turtle..." Lin Yuan whispered, staring at the ring on his right hand ring finger.

Instantly, the turtle beast appeared on Lin Yuan’s palm. He took out the beast core which he won in his first trial, and fed it to his turtle beast. The turtle consumed the Rank 2 Beast core right away, and darted its head slowly towards Lin Yuan. For the cultivation of the turtle, Lin Yuan now uses both Rank 2 beast core and essence stones. He also placed 20 small-sized essence stones in front of the turtle. As the turtle was hungry, it consumed all the essence stones in a few minutes slowly, meticulously.

After the turtle consumed all the essence stones, a faint smile lingered on Lin Yuan’s face. He slowly lifted the turtle up to start his cultivation process.

"I need to concentrate, I think I will be in the Peak stage after resonating with the turtle," Lin Yuan muttered, his eyes locked straight. He slowly closed his eyes, concentrating his consciousness on cultivation.

The turtle and Lin Yuan’s aperture began to shimmer faintly with green light. Slowly the beast essence began to swirl in his aperture. Lin Yuan felt it was like a mana flow which increases as you get strong but mana streams in the entire body, and beast essence is in aperture which helps the whole body to become strong.

5.5% → 6.0% → 6.8% → 7.2% → 7.8%

The beast essence grew up by 3.8% at a time. But Lin Yuan was disappointed, and commanded the turtle back to the ring.

"Fuck... I thought I would break into the peak stage if I refined both beast core and essence stones," Lin Yuan sneered, clicking his tongue. "I need to find another beast, but this time I will catch the beast alive and try my theory to cultivate with multiple beasts."

’But... unfortunately I can only strike/slash and defend, how can I make a beast faint...?’ Lin Yuan thought, placing his hand on his chin.

’Wait..’ Lin Yuan snapped, his eyes narrowed. He slowly extended his hand straight, concentrating his beast essence. After a few seconds, a strong gust of spherical energy burst out from his palm, carving a small boulder-like trench in front of him. ’Success!’

Lin Yuan simply manifested a new attack which can push an enemy so hard with a strong gust which can be helpful for Lin Yuan if he keeps more pressure of beast essence into it.

"It’s just like a fire ball, manifesting fire in a round structure and blasting towards the enemy which does not brutally kill the enemy... It will just faint the enemy if it has precise technique." Lin Yuan mumbled, scurrying his eyes towards his hand. "Same thing I applied for beast essence to attack. I name this attack as... Um... yeah... ’Shell sphere’."

Lin Yuan slowly stood up, and started walking on the pathway of the mountain. Today, his target is to find a beast, so Lin Yuan literally ignored the mushrooms he was seeing and the wild berries tree which he found a few days back. He just walked straight, darting his head sideways searching for a beast.

Whoosh! Whoosh!

A soft sound of something moving is heard by Lin Yuan. He jolted his head in every direction to see what it was. On the right side, 10 paces away, a wild rabbit is eating a carrot. But this rabbit is not like the Rank 1 rabbit which Lin Yuan defeated. It was 10 inches taller than the Rank 1 rabbit beast.

"Darn it... I think it was a Rank 2 beast." Lin Yuan muttered, stepping forward sluggishly towards it. "Quite good found today."

The rabbit’s sense of hearing is so good that it heard Lin Yuan’s footsteps even though he was so careful while walking. The rabbit beast instantly jolted its head towards Lin Yuan. Lin Yuan halted, his face filled with shock. Rabbit lunged forward at once, dropping the remaining piece of carrot aside. Lin Yuan sensed a dangerous killing intent from the rabbit beast. He got into stance immediately, but the rabbit was too fast and it jumped, bending its head down to slam into Lin Yuan’s stomach. Immediately, Lin Yuan jerked his body sideways to dodge the slam.

BAM!

The rabbit beast slammed into the tree behind Lin Yuan. The sheer impact of the slam made the tree tremble for a few minutes. Rabbit shook his head, and started rushing towards Lin Yuan again.

"Shell Guard," Lin Yuan guarded, immediately clenching his fist in front of him. Because he doesn’t have enough time to dodge.

BAM!

The rabbit’s head slammed into a greenish shield which is slightly invisible in mid-air and fell down again. Using that as an advantage, Lin Yuan staggered backward, making some distance. Lin Yuan quickly jerked his hand up, facing his palm towards the rabbit. He concentrated the beast essence into a spherical form. The rabbit shook its head, and raised it to see Lin Yuan. It lunged forward rapidly with immense anger.

"Shell Sphere," Lin Yuan yelled, moving backward due to the kinetic force of attack.

BOOM!

The shell sphere rushed towards the incoming rabbit beast. It slammed perfectly on its head, blasting the rabbit to hit a tree harshly.

The Rank 2 Rabbit beast fainted, as it had hit hard substance 3 times consecutively.

Lin Yuan slowly walked towards the fainted Rabbit in a guarding stance. He picked up the rabbit slowly, and went searching for food for it. Lin Yuan also soothed the rabbit’s head as it hit three times harshly. The rabbit felt calm warmth from Lin Yuan and a faint smile crawled on its face even unconsciously.

After a long walk, Lin Yuan found 4-5 carrots grounded. He plucked all of them up slowly. And sat down a few paces away. Lin Yuan stared at the rabbit, waiting for it to wake up.

"What if this rabbit attacks instantly after waking up?" Lin Yuan whispered, his eyes pale. "Darn with these thoughts, I will just follow my gut feeling."

After a few minutes, the rabbit twitched its body, fluttering its eyes. The rabbit startled and jerked from his hands instantly after opening its eyes.

"I don’t want to harm you, I am your friend..." Lin Yuan said, extending his hand with a carrot clenched in his palm. "Eat this rabbit, I gathered them for you! I just want to be friendly with you."

Lin Yuan slowly moved his hand with a carrot near the rabbit’s mouth. The rabbit hesitated, but took the carrot sluggishly. And the rabbit ate the carrot calmly, jerking its head towards Lin Yuan after every bite with suspicion. After some time, the rabbit trusted Lin Yuan and walked into his lap.

"Humph... finally it trusted me..." Lin Yuan whispered, placing his hand gently on the rabbit’s head.

’Beast taming is fucking annoying...’ Lin Yuan thought, clicking his tongue.

"Hey rabbit," Lin Yuan called, patting on the rabbit’s head. "I want your help..."

The rabbit beast pivoted its body to face Lin Yuan, and slowly lifted its head.

"I want you to help with my core cultivation..." Lin Yuan mumbled, rubbing his temples. "Forget it! You won’t understand... Just be calm and resonate with me!"

Rabbit crooked its head into Lin Yuan’s robe. Lin Yuan chuckled, holding the rabbit gently with both hands. And slowly he concentrated his mind in cultivation.

’It’s the same as adapting to other magic elements...’ Lin Yuan said to himself. ’Just understand the magic elements’ affinity and resonate with your mana core. Same goes here, resonate our aperture with the rabbit’s heart, making it feel comfortable and safe.’

Silence howled in the Qing Feng mountain. A bead of sweat crawled out from Lin Yuan’s left temple.

Shine!

After a few minutes, a faint light started to shimmer on the rabbit resonating with Lin Yuan’s aperture. The beast essence gradually began to shift in the aperture.

8.0% → 8.8% → 9.0% → 9.6% → 10.0%

Snap!

"Yes!!" Lin Yuan yelled, flapping his eyes open. "I broke into the Peak stage now!"

Lin Yuan aperture nurtured into Peak stage now. He is in Baby Beast Realm - Peak stage now. He succeeded in his theory. He felt the change in his body. Lin Yuan felt he can move faster than others now... as it was a Rank 2 rabbit, he got boosted his speed ability after refining with Rabbit. But suddenly, the rabbit began to spasm in a weird way.

"W-What is happening...?" Lin Yuan frowned, lifting the rabbit slightly up.

The rabbit beast’s face filled with fear and anger because of death and betrayal.

"No—" 𝘧𝓇ℯℯ𝑤ℯ𝘣𝓃ℴ𝓋𝑒𝑙.𝑐𝘰𝑚

BURST!

The rabbit beast got blasted from inside, splattering blood in all the sides, also Lin Yuan’s hands.The fragile rib bones of rabbit beast slashed through the air like shrapnel, burying themselves into the ground several paces away and one bone in Lin Yuan’s hand.

Lin Yuan stood motionless in the center of the blood carnage. The rabbit’s flesh had reduced to a fine pulp, crawling on his pristine robes, leaving in a gruesome color of crimson. A splatter of warmth clung to his cheek, trailing down his jawline, but his expression remained cold. He simply looked at his blood-stained and bone stuck palms, the ground around his boots soaked into a bloody swamp.

"It’s half success... it seems," Lin Yuan mumbled, rubbing the blood from his face. His eyes are devoid of any feeling towards the dead rabbit. "I need to figure out why it burst out after resonating with my core beast."

Lin Yuan rose, his eyes like a dark abyss, devoid of any sorrow for the rabbit’s death. Shreds of mangled flesh dripped from his robes, thudding onto the ground. "Poor rabbit... It actually trusted me," he murmured. "It seems I must bond with beasts daily to tame them before cultivation can begin. They aren’t as compliant as my turtle. Still, let its soul rest in peace; its sacrifice showed me that cultivating multiple beasts at once is possible. But I need to be careful from now on."

Lin Yuan groaned, slowly picking the bone stuck on his palm, and walked out of the mountain silently leaving the blood carnage beside.
