Let's Squander A Billion First!
Chapter 1816: Tomorrow’s Rising Star (18)
Fu Xingchen was taking a break and preparing to shoot the afternoon’s scenes, but he hadn’t seen Nian Yue at all. He asked another assistant, who also said she hadn’t seen her.
Fu Xingchen tried calling Nian Yue and found out her phone was turned off.
Fu Xingchen became quite worried: "Go look for her." Nian Yue wouldn’t just disappear suddenly; even if she had something to do, she should have told him, there shouldn’t be absolutely no word from her.
The assistant immediately went out to look for her, and finally someone saw Nian Yue heading towards the prop room.
Fu Xingchen went personally to find her; just as he reached nearby the prop room, he heard a cry of alarm from that direction.
Fu Xingchen’s heart tightened, and he quickly stepped to the prop room’s entrance, where several staff members were standing at the door, looking inside in shock.
Inside the prop room, Nian Yue was tied by her wrists with ropes and hung in the middle of the room, looking extremely miserable, with a sign hanging on her body—"I spread rumors indiscriminately, I am sorry."
The sight shocked everyone, and for a moment, no one went inside to rescue her.
Finally, it was Fu Xingchen who first snapped out of it, quickly stepping in to bring Nian Yue down.
Only then did everyone else return to their senses and hurriedly went to help; Nian Yue was sent to the hospital, and after some examinations, the conclusion was just minor injuries, not even meeting the minimum disability line.
Fu Xingchen demanded an explanation since such a major incident happened to someone on his team in the production group.
The production crew was also somewhat flustered, but after checking the surveillance, it was found that Nian Yue entered the prop room alone, with no one entering or leaving during that time.
The prop room has no windows, only one door for entry and exit, making the situation seem like a paranormal occurrence; everyone was uneasy, and the atmosphere became bizarre.
"Do you think she encountered a ghost?"
"Don’t say such things, it’s really scary. We’re in the age of science now, how could there be ghosts? The glow of socialism protects us!!"
"You all saw the surveillance; it’s not about ghosts. Who made her end up like this? It can’t be her doing this to herself, right?"
Everyone looked at each other, unable to make sense of the situation.
"What does the sign on her mean?"
"The recent rumors..."
There’s only one recent rumor spreading in the crew, about Qin Chuzheng.
"So, was she the one who posted that photo?" Someone said, "Doesn’t this imply that she slandered Miss Qin?"
"..."
"Before, I thought she was quite nice, didn’t expect her to do such a thing."
"I just feel Miss Qin isn’t that type of person."
"Appearances can be deceiving, how does Mr. Fu have such an assistant."
Gossip brewed within the crew, but at this time Nian Yue remained unaware, still lying in the hospital, her body swollen with pain, feeling as if her body wasn’t hers when she moved, yet the doctor said it wasn’t a big deal.
How could it not be a big deal when she’s in such a state?
"Don’t move." Fu Xingchen held down Nian Yue: "Do you remember who did this to you?"
Of course she remembers.
Grabbing the quilt, Nian Yue’s hand veins bulged, squeezing a name through her teeth: "Qin Chuzheng."
Fu Xingchen was stunned: "Her?"
How could it be possible? He checked the surveillance too, at that time only Nian Yue entered and exited the prop room by herself... Fu Xingchen suppressed his doubts: "Are you sure?"
Nian Yue nodded: "It’s her. She beat me like this, can we report to the police?"
Fu Xingchen said nothing, and Nian Yue got anxious: "She beat me like this, can’t we call the police?"
Calling the police wouldn’t help, firstly because no one could prove it was Chuzheng who did it. Even if someone could prove it, based on Nian Yue’s current injuries, at most some medical expenses would be compensated.
Fu Xingchen looked at Nian Yue, with a hint of seriousness in his eyes: "Were the rumors circulating within the crew earlier spread by you?"
Nian Yue was instantly nervous, didn’t dare meet Fu Xingchen’s eyes directly: "Xingchen, what rumors are you talking about?"
"About Qin Chuzheng."
"What does that have to do with me, I don’t even know..." Nian Yue immediately denied, shifting her gaze to change the subject: "Xingchen, you don’t believe what I’m saying? It’s really Qin Chuzheng who did it... last time’s incident... she surely wouldn’t forgive me, that’s why she retaliated against me like this."
By the end of her words, Nian Yue’s eyes were already red, tears falling freely.
"Back then, when sending gifts to you, how would I dare say it was from her, you definitely wouldn’t accept it... If I didn’t send it, I’d be scolded when returned, no choice but to deceive you saying it was from me..."
Nian Yue became increasingly aggrieved.
Looking at her, Fu Xingchen, after a while, said: "I don’t doubt you, stop crying. You should rest well, I’ll find a way to handle this matter."
Fu Xingchen reassured Nian Yue and returned to the crew.
Chuzheng was filming, and Fu Xingchen glanced in that direction; the girl in the middle of the set exuded confidence and carried an aura, unintentionally leading those around her following her lead.
She was dazzling.
Fu Xingchen had a premonition that she would become famous... would stand on the glorious avenue of stars and achieve her own glory.
"Cut! Excellent, excellent, that’s exactly the feeling." The director said, smiling: "Chuzheng take a break first, we’ll continue in a bit."
Chuzheng came out, and the people around handed her water, supported her with chairs, those who missed out quickly went for other things, as if afraid of not serving her well.
These people weren’t her assistants, but all production crew staff.
The crew usually wouldn’t be so attentive in serving an artist.
After those people went to work, Fu Xingchen then approached: "Qin Chuzheng, I have something to ask you."
Chuzheng glanced up at him, responding very indifferently: "Ask."
That look felt unfamiliar to Fu Xingchen; she never looked at him like that before...
Fu Xingchen quickly suppressed that strange feeling: "Did you lock Nian Yue in the prop room?"
Chuzheng, without changing her expression, retorted: "Mr. Fu, do you have evidence?"
Fu Xingchen: "..."
If there was evidence, he wouldn’t be asking her here now.
Chuzheng spoke leisurely: "Don’t say things without evidence." Having no evidence is like being a rogue!
"I don’t know how you managed to deal with the surveillance, but..." Fu Xingchen paused in his tone: "Don’t think this way you can extricate yourself, what’s been done will always have been done."
Fu Xingchen left this statement and turned away.
Chuzheng raised her hand to support her chin, her fingertip rubbed her lips twice, what’s been done will always have been done... that shouldn’t be said to me, right?
Fu Xingchen is quite handsome, but both blind and foolish in heart, how unfortunate.
-
Nian Yue wanted to seek justice, but without any evidence, coupled with the sign found on her when she was discovered, the crew now viewed her differently; how could she make a fuss?
She could only swallow the injustice quietly.
After Nian Yue returned, she could only behave submissively.
Within the crew, people, at some point, began to revolve around that woman, as if they were all gravitating towards her, even the director spoke highly of her.
