Chapter 1040

A huge metal sword wreathed with lightning from top to bottom was directly in front of Grey, inches away from his abdomen and ready to tear a gaping hole through it.

With inhumane agility, the warrior-mage leaped to the side, but even with that, the sword tore through his flank, drawing a deep gash that caused crimson droplets to burst out.

The weapon continued onward until it obliterated the ground where it struck, turning the whole area into a pile of rubble almost immediately.

"Hm. You escaped."

The voice came from his side.

However, Grey didn’t even acknowledge the words as he held his bleeding flank with a dark, pained grimace.

’That attack... it was powerful enough to shred through my ki defense? How?’

The reason why he hadn’t even acted like he heard the voice beside him was that he knew what it was.

A feint.

That was not where an attack was coming from; no fool would speak as they were about to strike, and the leader of the Otherworlders wasn’t that foolish.

’Now.’

Letting go of his bleeding side for a moment, he spun around as a gigantic ki sword appeared in his hand, which he hauled forward, meeting a lightning sword dead in the center.

A loud crash that sounded like thunder echoed across the entire terrain as the ground beneath father and son crumbled.

Gritting his teeth, Grey tried parrying the strike away, but as if reading him like an open book, Gustav teleported away.

The next second, the earth groaned, and sharp metal spikes burst out of the ground toward the Supreme Magus, who quickly took to the air about to fly out.

The spikes suddenly coiled, twisted, and immediately changed shape into that of a giant metal hand that reached out with lightning speed, grabbing the Supreme Magus by the foot and halting his flight almost immediately.

Turning to look at the construct for a split second, Grey knew what was coming next.

’I can’t use my lightning affinity... the metal will just absorb it.’

"Aerius Ultra!" he shouted loudly as a humongous gale of wind burst into existence and crashed into the hand holding his foot.

Alas! It did nothing as the dense material shrugged the attack off.

Then, with a flick of its heavy wrist, the metallic hand flung the Supreme Magus away like he was some sort of doll.

The warrior-mage flew backward with neck-breaking speed.

He was rapidly approaching the jagged mountains in the distance.

Refusing to crash into them, the wind hummed loudly around his body, aiming to slow his descent, which it did.

The next second, Gustav appeared directly above him.

The sun reflected off the man’s body when Grey spotted something.

’Why is his hand bigger?’

The closer the man got, the more Grey’s eyes widened as he realized why his hand was now larger.

It was wrapped in layers upon layers of dense metal, making it resemble the front of a train.

’This is gonna hurt...’

BAM!

Gustav’s metallic hand smashed into Grey’s frame with the force of a dozen freight trains.

The world froze for a moment as the wind was blasted out of Grey’s body onto the terrain below.

His afterimage was sent flying before his body followed afterward.

Within a beat, his body drove into the earth with massive force that blew rocks and dust high into the air.

Blood burst out from the impact as his body was driven deep into the ground from that single blow.

A delayed shockwave rippled out with immense force.

"Kuk... A lot."

Gustav appeared before him faster than the mage could react.

Unhesitatingly, he bashed the same metal-encased hand into the mage with all the strength in his body.

A loud explosion detonated across the plain as a deep abyss split open beneath the warrior-mage’s body, leaving him heavily battered.

Lifting his hand into the air, lightning shot out of nowhere and wrapped itself around the metallic encased fist.

This gave Grey his chance.

His hand reached out to his side as he drove it into the earth.

On pulling it out, he yanked out a massive earth club which he unhesitatingly swung forward with all his might.

Bam!

The club shattered against Gustav’s face, throwing him off of Grey for a second.

Blinking out of the crater he was in, the warrior-mage reappeared directly in front of his father and then wasted no time in hurling his hands downward.

Initially, there was nothing.

But now, a gigantic ki club gleamed in his hands, screaming down at Gustav with breakneck speed.

BAM! BAM! BOOOOM!

If before it felt like the planet shifted from the clash, now it really did as Grey’s club hammered into Gustav’s face with the strength of twenty speeding trains.

His body shot into the earth, reducing the whole terrain into a fifty-meter-deep abyss. Molten lava spewed out of the chasm, spraying into the air like a geyser.

Two hundred lightning swords hovered around the Supreme Magus, which he sent launching into the direction where he had sent his father crashing.

The next second, the swords froze in place, unmoving as if they were stuck by an unseen force.

Almost immediately, they spun around and were fired out at double their initial speed, right back at their sender.

Grey’s gaze sharpened, and he immediately spun around, kicking up a huge earth dome wrapped in layers and layers of soil that surrounded his body.

BOOOOM!

The whole dome trembled with force from the lightning swords hitting it.

Luckily, it held as deep cracks appeared on the surface.

"..."

He waited for a few seconds.

No attacks could be heard coming his way.

After a few more seconds, he slowly let the dome shatter to the ground, only for a massive metal club to be flung in Grey’s direction.

Booom—!

The club crashed into empty air.

Their target was already gone from view.

"Come on pops, did you think I wouldn’t guess that you would do something like this?" Grey’s mocking voice was heard coming directly from beside Gustav.
