Chapter 547: The Conditions To Get Gold Blood

(Author’s POV)

The shapeshifting bear convulsed on the polished black marble floor in agonizing pain. His screams were deafening to the ear, but nobody, not a single soul present in that room, helped him. They just looked at him with a detached expression as if this was nothing new to them, which was true.

They were all quite familiar with bloodshed and were even fond of it.

Soon, when the bear collapsed, Brian clicked his fingers twice. The next second, a few of his servants came and dragged the shapeshifter out with no respect. Brian, very casually, resumed the introduction, and finally his eyes landed on Garry. Everyone followed suit.

Now, with all the eyes on him, Garry was damn nervous. His back was drenched in cold sweat. He, as the sole ordinary human, was terrified. He didn’t even know why he was needed for whatever mission Brian had in mind.

"This person right here is the newest member. The one I recruited personally. His name is Garry Yates. Though Zavier Barland has the reins to the underground syndicate, he is only the surface. This human runs all the businesses there on his behalf. He is going to be a valuable asset for the operation."

"An asset? Only time will tell," Casper commented, glancing at Garry with a disgusted look. He was eyeing him as if rating his worth. Garry felt naked with his stare alone.

"If not, then he will be met with a similar fate as the previous informant. Big deal," Denver remarked casually. "Or I can just repeat what I did just now."

Garry’s eyes flickered. Outwardly, he tried to showcase a composed front, but on the inside, his stomach was churning. Calling these people dangerous would be an understatement. They were treating people as a slice of meat and nothing more.

Soon, the meeting began, and finally he got to know what this mission actually was.

Brian explained in full detail, "In an ancient forbidden text in our vampire world, there is a mention of something called ’the nectar of aureate.’ A potent elixir that can revive even the dead’s heart. From what we know, in an ancient werewolf manuscript, there is a similar mention with a different name."

"The Quintessence of gold," Keith uttered.

"Correct. It is said that even a drop of it is like ambrosia. But the art to capture it is considered forbidden and comes under dark magic and therefore illegal. In previous times, quite a few have tried to make it but failed miserably. They were simply clueless, had limited knowledge and exposed themselves way too easily," Brian stated with a peculiar tone, clearly looking down on his predecessors.

"And why do you think you can succeed, Brian Tape? Did your ancestors visit you in your dreams and tell you?" Alpha Keith inquired mockingly.

"Something like that~ ..." Brian answered unaffectedly. "They tried to lay their hands on it by the union of two ordinary humans, ’as per the text.’ But~ .... with half knowledge. They didn’t know the other details, the missing text. But we do~ ...." Saying this, he took out a carefully scrolled parchment, unrolled it and read it to them. "The child born from the union of two humans can have the ability of gold blood, but there are certain conditions."

"And what are they?" someone asked, curious.

"The woman has to be a virgin maiden born with a certain lineage and date, and the man, though born as a human, must possess some supernatural powers," Brian stated word by word.

Everyone frowned and glanced at Garry. But Brian quickly interrupted, "Not Garry Yates~ .... But the kid, he is an up and coming alchemist."

"ALCHEMIST?" A sharp round of gasps was heard around the room. Now everything made sense. His powers, his arrogance, his tone.

"Yes. The second condition is~ .... the commencement of the union should be done on an altar table infused with the blood of a vampire, werewolf and a bear. And a demon circle has to be made to summon Asmodeus and Mammon on a thirteenth full moon of the year, the Blue Moon," Brian announced.

"The demon of lust and the demon of greed," Catherine arched his brow with interest.

"Yes, my lady. Now onto the third condition~ .... the blood of a pure, high status vampire~ .... the werewolf’s fang, a bear’s nail and a mermaid scale should be offered to the sacred fire to complete the ritual," Brian finished.

"There won’t be any problem finding another bear, but a mermaid Scale? Didn’t that creature cease to exist a long time ago?" Denver asked nonchalantly.

"We thought they did, but~ .... that’s when Garry Yates came into the picture. Six months ago, in the auction house, you sold rare pink mermaid pearl earrings. Where did you get it from?" Brian questioned Garry straightaway, startling him.

"That was~ ... extracted from within the sea. It was a two hundred year old, historical item, " Garry stated calmly.

"What is it, really? I will give you one more chance~ ... answer very carefully~ ...." Brian leaned in, glaring at Garry. The friendliness on his face was replaced by something dark and menacing. "Your wife~ ... you two sons~ .... the eldest is about to get married, right. They all might have to bear the consequences of what you choose to say next. Aren’t they in Sosraville, living an ordinary life?"

Garry felt his blood run cold. He had been in life threatening situations countless times, but never felt this scared. He had kept his family well hidden. But now that Brian and his party had tracked their location, he was shaking to the bones. He had walked right into their trap.

With no other option left, he told them about Nerissa’s whereabouts. The pink pearl ornament came from her. She was kept by his boss, Zavier, in the underground dungeon. The poor mermaid was found unconscious on an island. He kept it for himself and tortured her daily, both physically and mentally.

"Told you~ ... he is a useful one," Brian said proudly.

After that meeting, within a month or two, they actively started their experiment, Operation Gold Blood. On every Blue moon, with everyone’s standing witness, they would initiate the ritual, but the first few times~ .... the demon circle had some errors, so the summoning failed. The girls, who were chosen, no longer remained maidens, so they had to find a new one before the next ritual. The females participated in the ceremony willingly because they were paid handsomely. Though the children were conceived and born, none of them possessed gold blood.

Year after year~ .... something or the other went wrong. They were all getting frustrated. But soon they got the perfect maiden for their job. That’s when Vienna Clinton came into the picture. She had met Denver in a pub and fallen for him head over heels. She was willing to do everything for him.

Denver, who wasn’t interested in him at first, got to know about her birthdate. It matched the requirement perfectly. He asked her whether she was a virgin or not, and she.... from the fear of losing him, lied and said yes. He offered her, and she willingly accepted it, but in return wanted to be in a relationship with him. He saw no issue and agreed readily.

The day of the ritual finally arrived. The blue moon was soaring high in the sky, and every party involved was gathered, including Garry. When Denver and Vienna were both entangled deep inside each other’s body~ .... the summoning circle started glowing. Everyone thought this time they were going to be successful. Their eyes glazed with voracity and avarice. But soon~ .... everything went into disarray.
