Mr. CEO's Substitute Bride
Chapter 1253 - 1248: Lancaster Family Scandals (Part 3)
"Mom, what happened?" Evander Lancaster rushed into the house, and was visibly startled to see Catherine Taylor kneeling in front of his third uncle.
The reason he hurried back was that he thought his mother’s affair with his second uncle had been exposed, but that didn’t seem to be the case.
"Brother..." Seeing Evander walk in, Willow Lancaster got up and threw herself into his arms, crying with grievance.
Evander didn’t know what had happened, but the scene before him suddenly made him understand something. The last time Willow mentioned... they weren’t biologically related...
He gently patted Willow’s back and pushed her away, changed into slippers, and walked in.
"Mom, what’s so urgent? Can’t you handle it as the lady of the house?" Evander sat down on a sofa, and Willow, timidly, followed and sat next to him, seeming to find support in his presence.
With a sigh, Violet Zimmerman spoke up, "Your third uncle suspects Willow isn’t his biological daughter, and he wants you to help with a DNA test."
Evander glanced at the couple on the other sofa, one with a livid face and the other crying sorrowfully before him.
Withdrawing his gaze, he let out a laugh, "Mom, there are so many hospitals, any of them can do it."
"Evander!" Violet lowered her voice as a reminder, "Your third uncle doesn’t want too many people to know!" Afraid it would be embarrassing if it got out!
"I see, alright then." Despite the big issue at home, Evander appeared indifferent. He turned his head, raised his hand to touch Willow’s hair, and deftly plucked a strand.
He approached Gabriel Lancaster, extending his slender fingers, "Third Uncle, yours."
Gabriel shot him a displeased look and turned his face away, "Do it yourself!"
"Third Uncle, sorry then!" Evander said, leaning in with his hand just about to touch Gabriel’s hair, when Catherine urgently stopped him.
"Wait!"
"Hmm?"
Evander turned, confused, to see Catherine carefully pick a short strand of hair from Gabriel’s shoulder and place it in his hand.
Catherine acted on instinct. Since marrying Gabriel, she became a full-time housewife, spending over two decades with him in a good relationship.
Evander pocketed the hair and headed toward the stairs.
The other three in the living room sighed silently at Catherine’s action.
"Mom, I’m heading back. The baby was very restless last night, and it’s hard for Kailey to handle alone." Robert Lancaster stood up from the armrest of the sofa Joseph Lancaster was sitting on and discreetly patted his shoulder. Joseph subtly nodded.
"Okay, go ahead," Violet said indifferently. Robert nodded slightly at his two uncles, "Second Uncle, Third Uncle, I’m leaving now."
Then he changed into his shoes by the door and left. 𝚏𝗿𝗲𝐞𝐰𝚎𝕓𝐧𝚘𝘃𝗲𝐥.𝐜𝚘𝕞
In the living room, only Violet, Joseph, and Gabriel’s family remained. After handing over her husband’s fallen hair, Catherine knelt back in front of him, no longer pleading desperately, but quietly wiping her tears.
Suddenly, Gabriel stood up, "See you at the civil affairs bureau first thing tomorrow morning."
With that, he angrily stormed toward the door.
"Gabriel..." Catherine called out to his back, watching him leave without a second thought, and slumped to the ground in despair.
On the sofa, Willow kept her head down, crying. As the Lancaster Family’s young miss, she was used to a life of luxury, and if stripped of this aura, she didn’t know how to live.
