Ms. Diviner: The Prodigal Daughter's Return
Chapter 1521: The Greatest Humiliation of My Life
At the same time, on another peak of the Holy Court, a young man with a dark expression lay on a sickbed, slowly opening his eyes. It was none other than Wei Xiaotian, who had been severely injured by a sword from Han Yan and fainted on the spot.
"Xiaotian, you’re awake." Seeing him open his eyes, an elder approached and said.
"Uncle Xuanji, how long have I been unconscious?" Wei Xiaotian asked. This elder was named Bo Xuanji, one of the Inner Court Stewards of the Holy Court. Although his position wasn’t high, he was very experienced, having studied with Wei Xiaotian’s father. Since his father perished in battle with temple experts ten years ago, Bo Xuanji had taken great care of Wei Xiaotian, for which he held him in high respect.
"Three days!" Wei Xiaotian was slightly startled, then said resentfully, "I didn’t expect Han Yan to have such power and be so ruthless."
"If she didn’t have this ability, how could she have opened the Netherworld King’s Divine Artifact back then and saved various masters from the countries? I had warned you not to underestimate her, yet you were careless," Bo Xuanji said indifferently, showing no surprise.
"Uncle, your divination seems correct; Wen Shan likely died at Han Yan’s hand. Given his cunning and the Ten Thousand Ants Devouring Heart Pill he carried for protection, only someone like Han Yan could have killed him. Among the disciples of Long Yan Academy, no one could do it, and the instructors, proud of their status, would never strike without reason, especially upon knowing his mysterious origins." Wei Xiaotian said.
It turned out Bo Xuanji was a Star Divination Master. Wei Xiaotian’s suspicion of Han Yan wasn’t just based on guesswork but mostly on Xuanji’s divination. Investigating others alongside was merely to divert attention.
As Han Yan had saved many masters from various countries in the Longyan Mountain, her status and position differed from other Descendants of Divine Guardians. Even the Holy Master views her differently, with rumors of Ye Lanfeng deeply in love with her. As Bo Xuanji, merely a steward, directly suspecting Han Yan based solely on his word would be untenable.
"You’re right. Initially, I wasn’t too confident in the divination results, but given the outcome of your encounter, where even you were defeated unexpectedly, only such strength could have killed Wen Shan," Bo Xuanji sighed and said.
"I will definitely kill Han Yan, and avenge Wen Shan’s death," Wei Xiaotian gritted his teeth and said.
"Xiaotian, be careful not to act rashly. The Holy Master summoned Han Yan and others here for the legacy left by the twelve ancient mighty figures, and for the continent’s safety. You must not let personal grievances ruin greater matters. Besides, these are just our speculations without concrete evidence. Acting against Han Yan might anger the Holy Master," Bo Xuanji quickly advised.
As he mentioned the inheritance left by the twelve ancient mighty figures, a trace of agitation flickered in Wei Xiaotian’s eyes but was quickly concealed.
"Rest assured, Uncle Xuanji, I will not act impulsively," Wei Xiaotian took a deep breath and said.
"That’s good. I heard not long after you left that day, Han Yutang also went to trouble Han Yan and suffered similarly. We mustn’t underestimate Han Yan," Bo Xuanji casually remarked.
"Han Yutang, what grudge does he have with Han Yan?" Wei Xiaotian’s mind stirred, asking.
By worldly standards, Han Yutang could be considered the epitome of a playboy, and Wei Xiaotian was not unfamiliar with him.
"There wasn’t much grievance before. Perhaps, like An Lihong and others, he envied the lineage of Divine Guardians from which Han Yan and others descend, and their selection by the Holy Master for exceptional cultivation at Holy Sword Peak. So, he set up a Thousand Illusion Demon Suppressing Array at the foot of the peak attempting to humiliate them, but Han Yan broke the array, trapped him inside, forced him to compensation with a large sum of elixirs, and even made him crawl through a dog hole, creating a formidable enmity," Bo Xuanji chuckled.
This day, mentioning Han Yutang’s embarrassment drew smiles from everyone in the Holy Court, from elders to common disciples.
"Such a thing happened, Han Yutang is unlikely to let it rest," Wei Xiaotian said meaningfully.
"It’s more than just Han Yutang. Jin Qisheng’s senior brother reportedly died tragically in the Longyan Mountain, blaming Han Yan for not saving him, harboring resentment toward her. Also, the disciple of Saint Dantai Changqing, Dan Tai Xuan, reportedly also has a grudge against Han Yan, and his disgraceful return to the Holy Court is related to Han Yan. Then there’s Elder Tian Annan. Not only was his only nephew, or rumored illegitimate son, Tian An maimed by Han Yan, but Elder Tian also lost his position because of her, and likely holds a grudge. Han Yan has offended many in the Holy Court; as the saying goes, one prosper with justice, perish without. Even if you do not take action, her departure from Holy Sword Peak will be troublesome. You need not rush to avenge Wen Shan; there will be opportunities in the future," Bo Xuanji said.
"So Han Yan has angered so many people; I’m not in a hurry. Uncle, carry on at ease; I will go to the rear mountain for cultivation and healing for a few days." Wei Xiaotian smiled faintly and turned to walk towards the rear mountain.
As he turned, his expression darkened.
There was something he hadn’t told Bo Xuanji; confronting Han Yan wasn’t just about avenging Wei Wenshan but more about the legacy left by the twelve ancient mighty figures.
Of the Twelve Saints of the Holy Court, only five are currently alive, and among these five, he is the weakest in both strength and talent. It wasn’t until two years ago that the Holy Master favored him and included him.
The expedition to North Abyss Misty Plain in half a year would include him, Ye Lanfeng, and four other saints, along with other Holy Court disciples who had undergone bloodline awakening.
Given his current strength, he might be replaced. He has painstakingly cultivated for years and was finally favored by the Holy Master, becoming one of the Five Great Saints. He naturally cannot accept such a failure, which would not only ruin his future but be a lifelong disgrace, something he cannot accept.
While he has no chance against Holy Court disciples despite knowing their threat, his attention naturally turned to Han Yan and others, descendants of Divine Guardians from the Continental Countries. Among them, Han Yan is the greatest threat.
This is the true reason for him targeting Han Yan!
"Regardless, I must find a way to eliminate Han Yan; even if she cannot be removed, I must prevent any significant enhancement of her strength." As he stepped out the door, Wei Xiaotian clenched his fist, steeling his resolve.
