My Aloof Husband, Mr. Drexler, Dotes Me Excessively
Chapter 405: Wouldn’t That Be Wonderful
Noah Drexler sat down beside her, seemingly concerned about her worrying, so he pursed his thin lips and said softly.
"There have been quite a few meetings these past two days."
Upon hearing that he was merely attending meetings, Summer Shawcross finally felt relieved and continued to pick up the book in her hand to read.
Meetings don’t require much moving around.
The doctor said his leg had just healed, so he shouldn’t exert too much or walk too far.
Noah Drexler glanced down at the thick book in her hands and furrowed his brow.
"Why are you suddenly reading this kind of book?"
"Just acquiring some knowledge. We’ll need it someday anyway. The content is quite detailed, and once finished, I should know how to take care of a baby!" Summer smiled and then playfully shook the book in her hand.
Upon hearing this, Noah’s expression paused slightly, and then he seriously reminded her while keeping his head down.
"Summer, we don’t have a child right now."
It was a bit early for her to be reading such a book now.
"We don’t have one now, but we’ll have one soon." Summer shrugged dismissively.
Listening to her words, his expression darkened.
"Do you really want to have a child?"
"Of course." Without hesitation, Summer nodded in agreement.
His gaze grew increasingly complex.
Noticing something was amiss, Summer put the book down, then turned seriously to look at him and asked.
"Noah Drexler, don’t you want a child? A child belonging to both of us?"
Her question made Noah hesitate for a change.
After several seconds, he pursed his lips and replied.
"I don’t like children."
Hearing his answer, Summer was momentarily stunned and then gently sighed.
She raised her hand and tossed the parenting book onto the coffee table, then turned to lean closer to him.
"But don’t you think it’s fascinating... they’ll carry our blood, resemble us, and call us mom and dad... we’ll be a family in the future." Her head rested on his chest, her expression filled with sincerity and yearning.
Noah Drexler didn’t speak, he simply listened quietly to her words and her vision for the future.
The stoic expression on his handsome face began to soften gradually.
"Besides, our home will be lively—it’ll be wonderful..." Summer added.
As her voice trailed off, Noah took a deep breath and tightened his embrace around her waist...
...
—— Knock, knock!

Suddenly, the door was knocked.
Hearing the knock, Summer paused for a moment, then got up from Noah’s embrace and sat properly on the sofa.
"Come in," Noah said, his lips pressed.
The door opened, and the butler came in with a tray, on which there was a small bowl of soup, the same dark broth they had earlier in the morning.
The butler had just entered, and Noah’s keen sense of smell picked up the unpleasant scent.
As he frowned and stared at the contents on the butler’s tray, the butler had already approached the two.
"Madam, it’s time for your soup." The butler spoke to Summer with a smile.
Upon hearing this, Summer sighed deeply and resignedly reached out her hand to take the bowl from the butler.
