My Aloof Husband, Mr. Drexler, Dotes Me Excessively
Chapter 436: I Can’t Let Her Leave!
Just now, I went out in her clothes to deal with that man for her, which counts as doing her a big favor, right?
Watching the expression on Summer Shawcross’s face, Sherry seemed to have already guessed something, but she still nodded and thanked her.
"Thank you."
Indeed, Summer helped her a lot today. If it weren’t for her... if she had been seen by that man, it would definitely cause a lot more trouble.
And right now, the last thing she wants is to get caught up in such trouble.
"So aren’t you going to repay me a bit?" Seeing her nod, Summer Shawcross smiled, just about to make a request when Sherry’s voice suddenly rang out.
"I can’t let you leave!" Her words were like a bucket of cold water poured over Summer’s head, instantly chilling her heart halfway!
"Why?" She looked at her opponent, puzzled, and asked.
She hadn’t just said she wouldn’t let her leave, but... couldn’t let her leave!
The meanings of the two sentences seemed similar, but there was still some difference in their implications.
Could it be... someone doesn’t allow her to let me leave?
"You can make other requests," but Sherry didn’t directly answer her question and suddenly said to her.
Summer Shawcross was at a loss for words; right now she had no other thoughts besides wanting to leave here.
"Then can you tell me why you can’t let me leave?" she asked, looking at Sherry with concern.
"Didn’t I say, you have to repay my debt first!" Sherry smiled at her and then brought up that reason to deal with her.
Seeing her unwilling to answer, Summer Shawcross bit her lip in dissatisfaction. After hesitating for a few seconds, she continued to ask her.
"Alright, then answer me one more question!" 𝐟𝚛𝕖𝚎𝕨𝗲𝐛𝚗𝐨𝐯𝐞𝕝.𝐜𝗼𝗺
"Go ahead!" Sherry nodded.
Summer Shawcross paused, then continued to ask curiously.
"Yesterday I failed to escape and was punished by Aunt Lin. But why in the end was I not punished, and Aunt Lin was dismissed instead?"
She had felt something strange about this since last night when she failed to escape; she thought Sherry would be angry and make her suffer a bit.
Yet she unexpectedly got away unscathed, and when she went to the restaurant today, she learned that Aunt Lin, who had been in charge there for several years, hadn’t shown up.
Listening to Summer Shawcross’s question, Sherry showed a surprised expression, and then smiled before clearly answering Summer’s question.
"Who said she was dismissed? Aunt Lin’s daughter-in-law is about to give birth, so she resigned to take care of her daughter-in-law. It’s a perfectly normal thing."
After Sherry finished speaking, Summer Shawcross chuckled. Clearly, she wasn’t telling the truth; there’s no such coincidence.
Aunt Lin didn’t resign earlier; she didn’t resign later; she just happened to resign last night!
"Since you won’t tell the truth, then forget it. I’ll just pretend I helped an ungrateful wretch today!" she said indifferently, glancing at the clothes she was wearing, turned around, and planned to go to the bathroom to change back.
And just as she turned around, Sherry’s expression changed a bit, and she suddenly spoke.
"I admit, keeping you here does have other reasons!"
Upon hearing this, Summer Shawcross stopped her steps, turned back to look at her. Their eyes met, and Sherry instinctively looked away, then with a voice tinged with helplessness, she began to speak.
