Chapter 179

Jake’s Point of View

Steve was looking at me from behind the glass with narrowed eyes, trying to pierce through my features to uncover the secret behind my intense hatred for his sister. I struggled to maintain my composure and answered in a casual tone, "It’s nothing, Steve... I’m just angry at her for treating you in such a humiliating way."

"Don’t be angry at her; you have no right, Jake!" he snapped, gripping the receiver. "She’s my sister, and she’s none of your business."

I couldn’t understand how he could love her so blindly, regardless of what she did to him. I tried to comprehend it, but I failed completely. I shrugged my shoulders. "Fine, I won’t interfere in your relationship anymore."

He nodded. "Yes, that’s for the best."

At that moment, the stern voice of the guard echoed in the hallway: "Visiting time is over!"

"Steve, time’s up... I have to go," I said, preparing to stand.

"Alright, Jake. See you next time," he replied with a faint smile.

I rose from the chair and waved to him, then the guard led me through the depressing corridors back to my cell. I threw myself onto the hard bed, closing my eyes as questions gnawed at my mind: How did he see his sister Julie? He should never see her!

My memory drifted back to two months ago, when I met Steve’s father, Stuart. I had been watching him for a week and discovered his frequent visits to a gambling casino. I followed him in that evening and asked one of the workers there out of curiosity, "Hey, do you know that man sitting at that table... the one in the brown suit?"

The worker looked up and said mockingly, "Oh, that bankrupt loser? Yeah, I know him."

"Bankrupt?" I asked with feigned surprise.

"Yes, and he’s in very deep debt," the worker replied.

Right there, at that moment, a plan for revenge flashed in my head like a diabolical spark.

Today I will take my revenge on you, Julie, because you hurt my friend and made us lose the money we stole. I walked toward his table with confident steps, sat across from him, and said with a yellow smile, "Hello."

"Hello... you want to play?" he replied irritably, without looking up from his cards.

"No... but I think you’ll want to hear what I have to tell you," I said.

He finally raised his gaze to me. "Who are you?"

"Jake... Jake Simon... and you must be Stuart Michael."

He grew flustered. "How do you know me?"

"That’s not important," I replied coldly.

He growled sharply, "Are you trying to mess with me, you smart-ass?"

"Calm down and listen to me first," I said, gesturing for him to be quiet.

"Go on then, say what you have to say," he said impatiently.

"Do you want to make money and settle your debts in a quick and easy way?" I asked, leaning toward him.

"How do you know about my debts?" he asked suspiciously.

I let out a low laugh. "For God’s sake, Stuart, everyone knows! Now answer me... yes or no?"

"Yes, of course!" he said with an eagerness he couldn’t hide.

"I know you have a beautiful daughter, don’t you?" I asked cautiously.

His features changed instantly. "Do you know my daughter, Julie?" He stood up angrily and grabbed my collar firmly. "Do you have a relationship with my daughter, you bastard?"

"Calm down, Stuart, what’s wrong with you? Listen to me first," I said, trying to free myself. "I have no relationship with your daughter, rest assured."

It seemed to me at that moment that this wretch loved his daughter, and I thought he would reject my filthy offer. "How do you know my daughter?" he asked skeptically.

"I just saw her by chance," I said.

"How and where? And why are you here?" he asked tensely.

"I sort of guide people like you to quick earnings," I said, playing the role of an advisor. "I’ll tell you something; there’s a secret club that buys beautiful girls for astronomical prices."

His eyes widened. "What?!"

I continued pouring poison into his ear. "Yes, and your daughter could bring you a fortune, and you can pay off your debts."

He went silent for a moment, and for a second, I thought he would stand up and break my bones. 𝒇𝙧𝙚𝓮𝙬𝙚𝓫𝒏𝓸𝓿𝓮𝒍.𝓬𝙤𝓶

But he surprised me when he asked in a low voice, "How much is the price, roughly?"

I smirked inwardly; he had fallen into the trap! "I don’t know, but it’s a large figure," I said.

That damn Munchies had told me there was a very influential man who owned a secret club somewhere. He didn’t tell me who he was or where it was located, but he confirmed that girls were rented out to politicians and famous figures only, and they bought girls for massive sums.

"And where is this place?" Stuart asked eagerly.

"I don’t have that information because the club is top secret," I answered. "But I’ll tell my friend to contact you if you give me your number."

"Yes, of course! Take my phone and save your number," he said quickly.

I took the phone, a look of victory crossing my face. He saved the number and handed it back, saying, "I’ve recorded it... tell him to contact me quickly."

I was surprised by how fast he accepted the idea. Didn’t Julie tell him she was living a happy life without him? Regardless, I didn’t care; my goal was revenge. That day, I went to Munchies and told him there was a stunning girl whose father wanted to sell her. He took Stuart’s number, spoke with him, and arranged an appointment with the club owner.

Munchies even told me two days later that the man had already sold his daughter!

I suddenly opened my eyes in the cell; the scene of the casino and Munchies’ warehouse vanished, replaced by the grey prison ceiling.

I exhaled in frustration. "If her father sold her, how is Julie at the university now? Did he back out at the last minute or what?"

But I thanked God that Munchies had died; if he were still alive, he could have told Steve what I did to his sister, and then Steve would never forgive me... in fact, he would certainly kill me. I sighed again and said to myself, Oh, Steve... if only you knew I did this just to get revenge for you against that bitch.

Robert’s Point of View

I was sitting in the car, waiting for Julie. I waited there for a long time; the hours passed with a lethal slowness, but Julie did not appear.

The exam time was exactly three hours, but now five full hours had passed, and she still hadn’t come out. I felt a constriction in my chest and tension racing through my nerves. I stepped out of the car with long strides charged with rage and headed straight for the university gate.

I stood before the guard, who was leaning boredly against the gate. "Has everyone left?" I asked in a sharp voice, my gaze piercing. "I mean the third-year students; they had a final exam today."

The guard replied calmly, scanning my anxious features, "Yes, sir, no one is left... the halls are completely empty."

Damn it! I felt my blood boil suddenly, and I clenched my jaw so hard my teeth nearly shattered.

She escaped! How could I have trusted her? How could I have been so stupid to think she wouldn’t run away from me? I got into my car violently, slamming the door with a force that shook the frame, then took off, driving at a lightning speed with sparks flying from my eyes.

I gripped the steering wheel until my knuckles turned white. "Today, I will hold you accountable for this, Julie," I muttered. "I will find you, and you will see what I’ll do to you for deceiving me!"
