Chapter 195: Disrespect

Yawn!

Damian stepped out onto his balcony in a loose bathrobe, a cup of coffee resting in his hand. He moved toward the railing and leaned against it, his gaze drifting down to the driveway below.

Two vehicles sat there, bold and out of place. A black and purple SUV and a sleek supercar were parked side by side, occupying the space like they owned it. Off to the side, his sedan had been shoved aside carelessly, crooked and forgotten.

His eyes narrowed.

"The disrespect!" he snapped.

The car looked as though it had been pushed out of the way in a hurry and abandoned without a second thought. He would not have been surprised if the doors were left unlocked and the keys tossed somewhere inside.

How could they treat the first and only car he had ever owned as a human like this?

The irritation lingered for a moment before something else caught his attention.

The house was silent.

Too silent.

He could not hear a single movement. No voices. No footsteps. No presence. His wives were gone, their absence stretching across the entire building.

Damian exhaled softly, his expression easing.

They were demigods. Whatever they were doing, they would be fine. Probably out enjoying themselves in ways only they could. He had more pressing concerns.

Councilman Delaney’s case was far from stable, and there were still loose ends waiting to unravel everything. The campaign aide accused of carrying out the intimidation was the an important piece he needed to secure.

If that man carried the full weight of the accusation, the blood staining Delaney’s name could be washed away. The corruption charges could be fought later. Reputation came first.

"I’ll be having some late-night outings again," Damian muttered, his tone low.

The case would demand more from him, but the rewards would be worth it. He was certain of that. He fell silent for a moment before pulling out his phone and dialing Clara.

"Hey handsome..." her voice came through, bright and lively, drawing a faint smile from him.

"Hello gorgeous... I called to use you," he said with a chuckle, earning a soft laugh from the other end.

"I did use you last night, so I guess it’s fair I get used in return," she replied playfully.

Damian smiled, turning to lean back against the terrace, the morning air brushing against him.

"The campaign aide responsible for the intimidation. I need everything you can find on him. Every detail."

There was a brief pause before she spoke again.

"I’m guessing you’re not coming in this morning?"

"I’ll be there. Just later this afternoon," he replied calmly. "I’m expecting your text."

He ended the call and turned his gaze back toward the driveway. This time, someone stood there.

Loth.

She was beside one of the new cars, waiting as though she had always been there. Damian sighed quietly. Things like this no longer surprised him.

"Get ready," he said as he turned away. "We’re getting straight to work. No slacking."

He drained the rest of the coffee in a single motion and headed back inside, already shifting his focus to what came next.

Damian stepped out of his home dressed in casual clothes, a fitted jacket over a plain shirt and jeans. His hair was neatly gelled back, his eyes hidden behind dark shades that gave him an unreadable edge.

He walked up to the black SUV and stopped in front of Loth, his gaze settling on her in quiet assessment. The Mexican beauty looked striking even in her work attire, every curve defined with effortless allure. Yet, as always, Damian felt nothing.

Each time he looked at her, the thought crossed his mind. By all standards, she should have been irresistible. A succubus like Racheal. The kind of woman men would lose themselves over without hesitation.

And yet, he remained completely indifferent.

It made him wonder.

If he had met his wives after gaining these abilities, would he have seen them the same way? Or would they have become just like Loth... visually perfect, but empty of meaning?

"Do you have it?" Damian asked, his voice calm.

Loth nodded immediately.

After his time with Clara, he had given her a task on their way back. Gather everything she could on Elena’s colleague, the woman who had worked closely with her before her death.

Damian’s strategy was simple. He did not need to win every angle of the case. He only needed to crush the murder accusation so thoroughly that everything else began to look questionable by association. That was where the real battle lay.

"Yes... everything I could find on her," Loth replied swiftly, handing over the file.

Damian took it, a faint smile touching his lips as he nodded in approval.

"Thank you."

Loth froze.

The words struck her like a jolt of lightning. Her head snapped up, but Damian was already gone. The door of the SUV slammed shut, pulling her attention toward the car, where he now sat flipping through the documents with quiet focus.

"To think he would take my words seriously..." she whispered, stunned.

She knew nothing of Racheal’s influence back in Mexico. In her mind, this change came from that conversation during the drive to Twenty’s place. She had spoken honestly, without expectation, and yet he had listened.

Not only listened... he had changed.

For the first time, she felt something unfamiliar stir within her. A sense of value. A small smile tugged at her lips before she quickly moved, slipping into the driver’s seat with an energy she could not quite contain.

Inside the car, Damian’s attention was already buried in the file.

Sofia Alvarez. Senior Zoning Analyst, Chicago Department of Planning and Development.

His eyes moved steadily across the page.

"It seems Elena was her junior," he muttered, a slight frown forming.

If their bond had been strong, turning her would not be easy. Loyalty complicated everything.

But not impossible.

Damian leaned back slightly, closing the file halfway as a quiet, calculating look settled in his eyes.

’There is nothing a good dick can’t solve.’
