Chapter 246: The New Damian

___ Councilman Delaney’s Residence ___

The black SUV rolled smoothly through the iron gates before slowing to a stop beneath the steeet lights illuminating the estate.

For several seconds, nobody moved.

Damian remained seated quietly in the rear with his eyes closed while Delaney sat opposite him stiffly. The atmosphere inside the vehicle felt completely different now.

Earlier, Delaney thought he was sharing a ride with a talented lawyer. Now, he wasn’t sure what exactly sat across from him anymore.

Damian finally opened his eyes and spoke calmly.

"I will consult with my teacher and give you and your colleagues an appropriate meeting time and venue at dinner." His tone remained simple as though deciding when politicians would be granted an audience was perfectly normal.

Delaney immediately straightened unconsciously.

"Yes... I understand." His response came out almost automatically.

Only after speaking did he realize something. He had bowed slightly without noticing and even worse he never once looked Damian directly in the face while responding.

The realization made his stomach twist. He was terrified of this young man!

The SUV door opened and Delaney stepped out slowly. The moment his feet touched the driveway the vehicle pulled away immediately.

He remained standing there, watching the black SUV disappear into the distance. His suit fluttered lightly beneath the evening breeze yet his expression remained blank.

His trial had ended and he should have been celebrating, yet this short ride had completely ruined his mood. Not because he was angry or he felt insulted but because he was scared.

His fingers slowly touched his throat and the memory returned. That feeling of being completely helpless broke something in him.

What if he retaliated?

What exactly stopped that masked man from returning to kill him?

What stopped him from appearing inside his bedroom?

What stopped him from taking back whatever miracle he had performed?

Delaney instinctively pressed his hand against his chest. After meeting Damian, he remembered going for a full medical evaluation. The results still haunted him. His heart matched someone eighteen years old and his blood pressure was found normal.

All his old complications vanished over night and even Doctors called it impossible and claimed only a miracle can do such a thing.

Whether it was miracles or Damian somehow turning an impossible trial into victory, neither belonged in normal human understanding.

His lips slowly tightened as he finally understood something. He wasn’t helping Damian. He was benefiting from standing close to him. The more he thought about it, the more terrifying it became.

People like that did not need politics, politics needed people like that.

Slowly Delaney smiled bitterly. He turned and entered his mansion quietly.

Meanwhile...

Inside the moving SUV Damian leaned back and closed his eyes.He inhaled deeply.

’Finally silence.’ he inwardly sighed.

He sank deeper into his seat as he ignored the dozens of unread messages at the corner of his eyes. Right now he only wanted to return to his wives.

Ding.

Damian frowned and his eyes drifted lazily toward the screen and his expression softened slightly.

[Clara: Amazing performance babe! The entire firm is going crazy. They’re even preparing a congratulatory party. Where are you?]

His eyes stayed there for a moment but he felt nothing. No excitement, warmth or desire to respond.

Just Indifference.

He almost locked the phone but stopped himself midway.

Pa!

Damian slapped himself and A red mark appeared immediately. Loth glanced briefly into the rearview mirror but remained silent.

Damian frowned deeply.

"It’s Clara... Remember." His voice remained low.

For a moment he had almost treated her message like background noise like everyone else. His eyes narrowed as the realization unsettled him.

[Now that you see the world through the lens of gods, you will face two choices.]

Rin’s voice echoed calmly.

[Either isolate yourself from humanity you deem beneath you or learn to embody the patience required to deal with mortals.]

Damian rolled his eyes. Only now did his expression soften.

"You didn’t tell me it would be this bad."

Puff!

Violet smoke exploded beside him and Rin appeared. But Damian immediately frowned, the fox had changed. It was still puppy sized but it had five tails and several glowing purple inscriptions now ran across its black and violet fur.

Its eyes also looked deeper somehow.

Damian blinked but before he could ask—

"I literally told you this would change your life forever!" Rin snapped immediately and it tails puffed up dramatically.

Damian stared at it briefly and chuckled. He reached over and gently stroked its head. Rin froze but its tails wagged unconsciously.

"At least I’m ahead of schedule." Damian raised a brow.

Rin coughed awkwardly and nodded.

"...At this rate you should reach demigod level in a few months." Its voice softened.

Even it couldn’t deny reality anymore. Its previous calculations had become meaningless. Damian’s growth was absurd.

However this was temporary. At the demigod stage ritual mating would become far less effective. His future would eventually demand he travels realms and gather followers.

"...I guess you can keep those women a little longer." Rin’s ears lowered as it muttered reluctantly.

Damian smiled faintly. He understood Rin hated admitting it but his wives worked. If Damian stayed with Loth alone his growth would not compare to his wives who were demigods.

Their value was too vast. A lesser demon can never compare to demigods. Lesser demons can never provide the same value as a demigod, talk more of three.

By the way, in the demigod realm when faith is needed. demigods and Gods would still prefer to slowly and steadily grow their strength through ritual mating while sending out weaker manifestations to continue doing his bidding and spread his fame across the planet

This could go on for centuries until the entire planet has been colonized. Only then does the mating stop just for the sake of moving to a new planet.

In this aspect it’s important to have quality mates and in this aspect Damian has three demigods.

Rin sighed.

Lin Qui’s stubbornness finally bore fruit. It was just sad it didn’t bear fruit for him.

"That’s how life works." Damian smiled lightly and Rin looked up.

Damian stared outside. He could easily read Rin’s thoughts the same way Rin could read his. They were like inseparable best friends

"True success is timeless. It’s built upon constant sacrifice from one generation... so the next starts from a place the last never could."

Rin stayed quiet and Damian continued.

"Now imagine I had three demigod ex wives roaming around with armies of fox spirits, succubi and serpents trying to ruin my life because I abandoned their queens."

He finally looked at Rin.

"You can see how quickly things go south."

Rin slowly nodded. That scenario wasn’t hypothetical, it was almost bound to happen if Damian broke up with them.

With the Faustian bargain backlash, enemies from all sides, no ritual mating partners or support, Damian would eventually be cornered. And in that future submission to Sol may actually become the only path.
