My Notoriety Spreads Throughout the World
Chapter 633 - 548: Hera Has Broken Down
"I should have been more decisive then," Four-leaf Phoenix Tree said with a light chuckle.
"Throw myself onto Su Sui's knife; it'd be worth it for a Dark Gold Rose."
The youth's words eased the tension somewhat.
"Stop talking nonsense," Xiao Xinzhu objected.
"Hey, isn't it enough? I've already apologized to you with a face; what more do you want, Four-leaf Phoenix Tree?"
"Alright, Young Master Zhou, when given face, you can't refuse it," Four-leaf Phoenix Tree shrugged.
"This topic ends here."
"The president is right. Winning isn't just about eliminating everyone from Light Chasing Garden; completing the camp's mainline task first means winning too."
"Excluding personal identity tasks, our mainline tasks are the same, right?"
The group set aside their disputes and began focusing on tasks.
"Camp: Firefly"
"Mainline Task: Intercept before the Black Box is delivered to that position."
"Which position?" Lu Shuhang was stunned for a moment.
Usually, task targets in missions have traps or misdirection, like the rules of the Tag Express game. However, wording is precise, and vagueness rarely occurs.
If that's the case, then there's only one possibility.
'That place' isn't a specific location; it might constantly change, or it might not be a place at all.
Lu Shuhang leans towards believing that the place is ever-changing.
Since their task is interception, Light Chasing Garden's goal is likely escorting.
With this in mind, Lu Shuhang spoke:
"Xiao Xinzhu, you mentioned your personal identity task is to investigate the Night Rose Sea's owner, 'Cyan Divine Lion.' Is it related to the Black Box matter?"
"Yes."
"Stop searching for the Dark Gold Rose for now. Focus on the personal side task; Yu Lan, follow along. We'll coordinate our activity in nearby areas to ensure immediate support."
"Understood." ππ£π²ππ¨π²ππ»πΌπ―π²π.π°ππ¦
The five began taking action.
Before long, Xiao Xinzhu and Yu Lan returned to Night Rose Sea.
In the dim sea ground, explosive music and crossing beams of light made people dizzy. Everyone vented their repression without restraint, bionics rolled around high on drugs, finely dressed men kneeled to kiss a pair of red high heels as Disciplinary Officers stood by, expressionlessly documenting the decadent scene before them.
Even after previous events, these bionics, who had long cast aside 'tags,' were indifferent, continuing indulgence in debauchery.
Since the revolution erupted months ago in the tunnel, like a meme virus, the words of the blond girl took root deep in every bionic's mind. To varying extents, they were affected, rarely outwardly showing it in daily life.
For these Disciplinary Officers, work difficulty has more than doubled. They know deeply that, despite their scores being higher than 47, each is potentially an Awakened. Their Spirits are already Awakened; becoming an Awakened is just procedural.
For these Awakened, Tag Catchers and RoboCops can't destroy them fast enough every day. Skyline City's order is teetering on the edge of collapse.
Hera has been trying to change the situation, but past Skyline City was like a machine so precise it couldn't be more precise, with tens of thousands of parts running smoothly together under her will. Occasionally, when one area had issues, it was quickly remedied.
Now, however, the precise parts started breaking uncontrollably. Being too precise, when an entire region has issues, the dense parts and gears alone are daunting at first glance, let alone attempting a remedy.
Plans that are simpler and rougher are easier to execute, while increasingly interconnected plans have exponentially higher probability of flaws in one link.
But the badly timed removal of broken parts led to damage. New ones emerge rapidly with upsets.
Now, after many fruitless changes like stones sinking into the sea, Hera has broken down.
Numbly issuing orders, receiving more error reports without effect, making the most calculated right decision only watches the once precise machine worsen in her hands.
The Disciplinary Officers understand well that the breakdown of this massive machine is inevitable; all they can do is attend their posts as per usual.
"Princess..."
"Princess, where are you?"
A woman staggered through the aisle, seemingly just awoke, unsure of what's happening.
Her eyes were filled with confusion and helplessness, softly calling the young girl's name over and over.
"Princess..."
Isabella vaguely guessed that Xu Xiaoyou wouldn't return. Nameless pain spread in her heart; the young girl's past promises and sweet words stabbed like a knife.
Xiao Xinzhu and Yu Lan watched Isabella walk away, shaking their heads with a soft sigh.
Another poor girl blinded by the Dark Gold Rose.
The two exchanged a glance and parted there, with Xiao Xinzhu taking external vigil and Yu Lan tasked to investigate Cyan Divine Lion's exact location.
Yu Lan passed a dressing room and shortly emerged dressed as a cleaner.
Xiao Xinzhu's portrayed identity worked here for a while; she had done homework on Yu Lan and naturally knew these security identities. When she saw security coming, she initiated greetings.
No one doubted her; she soon crossed the corridor and entered the elevator.
In the elevator, security guards exchanged work chats just like always, with no concern for the cleaners dressed girl in their midst, as she was far too much like a cleaner, even in demeanor.
The elevator door soon opened; Yu Lan exited and commenced cleaning, pushing a cart from somewhere. Seeing a white-soaked corpse in the cleaning bucket, Yu Lan raised an eyebrow, guessing another assassin was operating in the sea grounds, and the man was an unlucky casualty.
Yu Lan had often done body disposal; she adeptly handled the man's corpse, filled a bucket with water, put on gloves and a mask, then donned an old apron.
She first sprayed professional cleanser onto the wall and mopped away until foamy, scrubbing repeatedly to remove grime, as water streamed down forming clear stratification.
A few minutes later, two robust Lionman security captains approached.
"Tonight's the lamp ticket selection phase. The boss will appear; be sure to have your men focus on preventing suspicious targets from mixing in."
"No need to tell me, Isos is taking forever to reply."
Yu Lan smirked.
Isos is currently soundly asleep in the cooler.
