Chapter 386: As Long As Ashley Never Found Out

Meanwhile, Liza watched Tommy and Primo on the shopping mall’s carousel.

The three of them had spent the day together, visiting parks and wandering around the mall, buying things not only for Primo but also for Ashley and her husband, Lucian.

"So cute," Liza chuckled, taking pictures of her husband and Primo.

Tommy stood beside one of the moving carousel horses while Primo happily rode one that gently moved up and down.

Her eyes softened as she kept her attention fixed on the two.

Everything around her blurred.

All she could see was Tommy’s younger self.

She imagined what it would have been like if they had been blessed to have a day like this with their daughter.

Taking her out on carefree days like this.

No elaborate plans.

Just enjoying each other’s company and watching their little girl smile.

Her smile turned bittersweet.

"See?" she whispered softly. "You would’ve been an amazing father."

Liza sniffled and shook her head, dabbing at the corners of her eyes before any tears could fall.

Then she lifted her chin and smiled as she walked toward the carousel’s exit.

"Primo, did you like it?" Carrying Primo on his back, Tommy looked over his shoulder.

Primo beamed brighter than ever and nodded enthusiastically.

Tommy laughed out loud.

"Should we try something else?" he asked. "I saw an arcade over there. You know, when I was a kid, I loved playing those games."

Primo’s eyes lit up.

It had been a while since he had played any games.

Ashley and Lucian occasionally scheduled family game nights instead of movie nights, but the thought of playing with Tommy excited him.

Maybe he could even impress him with his skills.

Tommy laughed again. But when he turned to Liza, he noticed the corners of her eyes were slightly red.

"Dear, are you alright?" he asked.

"Huh?" Liza cleared her throat. "Of course, dear. I just... sneezed."

She smacked her lips. "Anyway, I’m going to the restroom. I’ll catch up with you in a bit."

"Alright." Tommy looked back at Primo. "So? Fast or slow?"

Primo thought for a moment before signing,

[Fast. Very fast.]

"Okay, Superman!" Tommy puffed out his chest dramatically. "Buckle up! Superman, go!"

The next second, Tommy sprinted away with Primo still on his back.

Primo burst into laughter, stretching one arm forward with his tiny fist clenched like a superhero soaring through the sky.

"Dear—" Liza tried calling after them. But it was already too late.

Tommy was running as though he were twenty years younger.

She shook her head helplessly.

"Does he think his back won’t hurt later?" A sigh escaped her before she chuckled. "Good thing I packed enough pain patches."

With that, she turned in the opposite direction.

She didn’t actually need to use the restroom.

She simply wanted a few moments to compose herself. Not because she was sad.

Quite the opposite.

Seeing Tommy and Primo together had touched her heart more deeply than she expected.

How could two people who had only known each other for a few months adore each other so much?

After touching up her light makeup, Liza picked up her handbag and turned around. Only to accidentally bump into someone.

The collision was minor.

Unfortunately, the other woman’s purse slipped from her hand.

Its contents scattered across the floor, accompanied by the sound of several cosmetic items shattering.

Then came a dramatic voice.

"Oh, my God!"

Liza flinched slightly before looking up.

"Hah!" Isabella scoffed, glaring at her. "Are you blind?!"

Her sharp voice echoed through the restroom as she shoved Liza’s shoulder.

"I-I’m so sorry," Liza apologized immediately. "I’m really sorry, dear. I wasn’t paying attention."

She instinctively reached out to help. But Isabella slapped her hand away.

The sting surprised Liza, who instinctively clutched her hand before looking up at the furious young woman.

Isabella scoffed again, looking Liza up and down with obvious disdain. There was nothing flashy about Liza’s appearance. If anything, she dressed simply.

To Isabella, even one of their maids looked more glamorous.

"Yuck." She brushed off her sleeve as though something filthy had touched her. "If you’re sorry, then keep your filthy hands off me."

She narrowed her eyes. "How can you walk around without looking where you’re going? Are you stupid?"

Liza drew a slow breath before forcing a polite smile.

"I’m sorry, young lady." She crouched down. "I’ll pick everything up."

As she gathered the scattered items, Isabella folded her arms and watched coldly.

She was already in a terrible mood after having to fly here again just to accompany June to an event.

This inconvenience only made things worse.

When Liza reached for a broken lipstick, Isabella deliberately stepped on it with the pointed heel of her stiletto.

Liza froze. Her eyes lingered on the polished shoe.

"Listen," Isabella said, clicking her tongue. "You should be grateful my parents aren’t here."

She pointed a finger at Liza before poking her lightly on the forehead.

"Your pathetic life wouldn’t even be enough to pay for this lipstick, much less everything else you ruined." She straightened. "Next time, use your brain."

Her gaze turned icy.

"You have no idea who you just offended." She brushed her hair over one shoulder. "Throw those away. You touched them. They’re filthy."

She gestured dismissively toward the broken cosmetics.

"Consider yourself lucky I’m not in the mood to pursue this." Her lips curled in disgust. "But don’t ever let me see your face again."

With that, Isabella turned and walked away as though Liza wasn’t worth another second of her time.

Liza looked after her and sighed.

She shook her head gently before noticing the other women in the restroom.

Although there weren’t many people inside, everyone had frozen after witnessing Isabella’s behavior.

"Sorry about that," Liza said awkwardly with a small smile.

"Goodness." One of the women hurried over and knelt beside her, helping gather the scattered items. "What is wrong with that woman?"

Another woman joined them. "How could she say something like that? These lipsticks aren’t even worth comparing to someone’s life."

Liza smiled appreciatively.

I suppose there really are good people... and bad ones, she thought.

She didn’t dwell on Isabella’s behavior.

There was simply no reason to make a mountain out of a molehill.

Liza had lived long enough to witness far worse. She had endured much worse while standing beside Tommy through the years.

Compared to those hardships, this was insignificant.

From Isabella’s perspective, she had shown mercy by sparing Liza over such a minor inconvenience.

From Liza’s perspective, it simply meant the young woman still had plenty of room to grow.

This encounter shouldn’t have mattered to either of them.

As long as Ashley never found out.

Because if she did... all hell would break loose.
