Chapter 21: Jenny

[ <LUST> estimates that the host must be around level 60-70. ]

Fredrinn was surprised but not so much at the same time.

He had grown to great heights in Apolasia so it was only normal that he was far ahead of the newbies on Earth.

Though, he felt betrayed by the universe that the humans around him had such a cheat to bridge the gap.

They simply need to farm exp.

[ <LUST> feels amused. Levels require exponentially more exp with each level up, host. The gap is bridgeable but not by everyone. ]

That seemed to please Fredrinn slightly.

"Epic level 14..." Jacob gulped as he looked at the man in front of him.

His instincts were correct. The new group that had just barged into their safezone was definitely dangerous.

He glanced at Fredrinn, but was disappointed to find out that Fredrinn had already zoned out and didn’t seem particularly interested in the ongoing drama.

"Jacob, was it?" The honeyed voice spoke again, belonging to the blonde chick who stepped closer to Jacob and smiled beautifully.

"I think you should focus on your personal strength instead of managing this small ragtag bunch. Our leader is much more capable of doing it in the meantime." she purred.

"Haha," Jacob chuckled nervously, "I certainly don’t doubt that miss. I would love any help I could get in these unfortunate times. If you don’t mind me asking, then what exactly is your relationship with Christine over here?"

He looked at the cat-eyed vixen.

The blondie didn’t reply, but the man with the Uzi did.

"She’s like my little sister. She called to check on me and told me that she was stuck here, so I came over." he said simply.

Christine smiled, "Indeed, thanks a lot for coming, brother Max. Jacob had promised great rewards for inviting the awakeners to the group. So I am looking forward to those."

"Ohh?" The blonde woman chimed in curiously, "Rewards? Like?"

"Ah, it was nothing. I just gave a simple incentive to the poor women who didn’t feel as safe around here as they would’ve liked to. Of course, no one would dare harm Christine anymore."

"That’s obvious." Max replied instantly, his grip on his gun tightening as his eyes narrowed, "Not only Christine, none of the girls here should be worried. I will personally shoot anyone who harms them."

Hearing his cocky and confident proclamation, the other girls who were feeling antsy about their situations brightened up.

"He sounds like a good guy." Rhea commented as well from the side, feeling safe enough to stop hiding behind Fredrinn like that.

She was already feeling embarrassed about doing that.

"I guess he does sound like that." Fredrinn hummed.

Andrea, who still had her hands clutched on his shirt didn’t even react to Rhea or Fredrinn.

Her eyes were only focused on the new group, trying to gauge their psyche.

She couldn’t explain her feelings, but she understood one thing that no person was simply nice.

It was common knowledge.

"So, you seem to be quite interested in inviting awakeners here." The blond woman continued to chat with Jacob.

"Well, safety was important and even a weakling and newbie awakener like me managed to ensure safety of this bunch. So I figured that the more the merrier." Jacob replied diplomatically.

"Good thinking." She agreed, "Then did it work? Did you manage to invite another awakener or is it just us here?"

He unapologetically looked in Fredrinn’s direction.

"There’s one. He’s also quite strong, strongest here till now, actually."

Blondie’s eyes traced Jacob’s vision, landing on the handsome lean figure of Fredrinn.

She paused for a split second before laughing, "Strongest here and yet you’re the one playing leader?"

Jacob’s eyelids twitched at the jab but he acted normal and shrugged, "He isn’t interested in the leadership stuff."

"Oh really?"

Saying that, she decided that her talk with Jacob was done and began to walk towards Fredrinn.

"Hey! Jacob told me that you’re an awakener too. I’m Jennifer, but you can call me Jenny." Jennifer introduced herself, even offering a handshake which made Jacob irritated.

He needed the handshake more than Fredrinn!

But unknown to his thoughts, Fredrinn looked at the hand and smirked playfully, intentionally ignoring the hand as he questioned in a teasing voice.

"Awakener, huh? Level and rarity?"

It was exactly what Max had asked Jacob.

Jenny realized it too, bursting into laughter.

"Rare level 12." She giggled, "Yours?"

"Epic, level..." Fredrinn’s eyes switched to Max who was talking to Christine while also keeping an eye on Jenny and Fredrinn’s interaction.

"15." He finished his sentence.

"Oh?" Jenny’s eyebrows were raised, her interest in the man only growing further before she noticed Rhea and Andrea behind him, hiding.

"I promise I won’t bite. You guys can stop being worried." She said playfully.

Rhea retreated a step backwards after getting called out like that, but Andrea didn’t.

Instead, she only moved closer, her large breasts pressing against Fredrinn’s back as she replied, "I know, I just like it like this."

Of course, she was doing it intentionally.

Kind of like cats marking their territory.

Jenny’s playful smile twitched before returning to normal. She clearly understood the woman’s intent.

But as they say about women... When a man is liked by one, he is liked by all.

Seeing Andrea’s interest in Fredrinn only made Jenny feel more curious about the mysterious awakener who was allegedly stronger than her own ’leader’.

"I guess you had grinded quite a few zombies before arriving at this place?" She spoke, ignoring Andrea.

Fredrinn nodded, "Yeah, there wasn’t much choice in that matter. How about you? Raided a police station or something?" He shot back looking at her padded vest, which somehow made her appear even sexier.

Jenny giggled, "As if. It was impossible since it was already raided quite well. Maybe the army or other survivors? We found some guns in the police cars and at the crime scene."

Her eyes then fell over his sword that hung on his waist.

"You know, killing zombies in a melee awards more exp when compared to using 3rd party methods like guns."

"I am quite jealous of you." She continued.
