My Supernatural Girlfriends Spoils Me Rotten - Chapter 416: A Bad Father Part 1

BLINK!

The demon world vanished.

For a fraction of a second, Asher felt the familiar distortion of space folding inward, time slipping sideways instead of forward.

Teleportation was never instant in the truest sense. Distance, anchors, interference from higher laws… all of it warped the flow.

Not even he, in his current state, could change that— the space was simply too vast. The best he could do was reduce the delay by moving faster and faster.

This time, the delay was noticeable.

When reality snapped back into place, Asher stood beneath an unfamiliar sky.

Eryx.

Or rather—what used to be Eryx.

The old city of sorcerers, once shrouded in perpetual mist and dim arcane glow, was gone.

In its place floated a city.

Massive platforms of enchanted stone hovered at different elevations, connected by glowing bridges of condensed mana.

Towers no longer clawed upward in rigid defiance of gravity; they drifted, rotating slowly, supported by intricate spell arrays that pulsed like living runes.

Arcane currents flowed visibly through the air—thin, luminous streams weaving between structures like veins of light.

"…So time really did pass differently," Asher murmured.

By his reckoning, only a short while should have passed since his last visit.

Yet here, decades—perhaps century—had reshaped everything.

He stepped forward, descending from the higher platform and letting himself blend into the city below.

The streets were wide, layered, and alive with motion.

Enchanted constructs guided traffic through the air, while merchants called out from floating stalls that adjusted their height to match passersby.

And the people—

His eyes narrowed slightly. Different beast men walked openly.

There was no fear.

No hostility.

No hushed whispers or wary stares.

He turned his attention to the grand tower at the center of the city.

It was very tall, easily more than a hundred stories high. The tower stretched into the sky, standing above everything else like it was holding the city together.

Its walls were made of stone and glowing metal, covered in symbols that slowly moved as magic flowed through them.

Magic from all over the city gathered around it, circling the tower before spreading back out.

It helped keep the floating buildings stable and made sure the city's magic stayed clean and controlled.

Asher narrowed his eyes and tried to teleport directly into the castle.

The moment he did, defensive runes activated, filling the space with warning light.

Powerful barriers tried to block him—but to someone who had mastered magic, they were nothing more than obstacles.

He slipped through them with ease.

In the next instant, he appeared inside the throne room.

A young man in his twenties sat on the throne. The moment Asher appeared, the man's eyes flew open.

Snap!

With a single flick of his finger, chains burst out from every direction, wrapping tightly around Asher's body.

The pillars of the room began to glow, and a large magic circle appeared on the floor.

It completely canceled all forms of energy, except for the chains.

"An assassin?" the man asked calmly as he stood up.

Asher finally got a clear look at him.

He was devilishly handsome, with attractive features and confident eyes.

Snake-like scales covered parts of his skin, marking him as a beast-man. His silver hair and golden, slit-like pupils were reminiscent of a snake.

"How dare you try to assassinate the Sorcerer King, Arkel!" another voice shouted.

A young girl with wolf ears stepped forward. She held a staff tightly in her hands and pointed it straight at Asher.

"Sorcerer King?" Asher chuckled, remembering the title he once held.

He looked at the extremely handsome young man before him, and it didn't take long to reach a conclusion.

This was his son with Lizana.

He expected as much. His own genes were so strong that all his offspring naturally inherited impressive features.

It also didn't hurt that he was very good at choosing his partners.

"Explain how you bypassed the outer arrays. Those barriers were calibrated to repel powerful entities."

Asher smiled. "Ah. So, you did upgrade them. Nice job."

The wolfkin girl stiffened. "Your Majesty, he's mocking you. Let me teach this bastard a—"

"Stand down, Kaela," Arkel spoke without looking away.

She paused instantly, then lowered her staff, though her eyes never left Asher.

"I didn't sense any hostility," he said slowly. "And you didn't disrupt the castle mana flow upon entry. That meant that you could control space in a very deep level."

Asher's gaze softened, just a fraction.

'Sharp. He takes after me more than I thought.'

"Let me ask you something," Asher change the topic "What year is it, according to the New Eryx Calendar?"

The question landed like a stone dropped into still water.

The wolf kin blinked. "What kind of—"

"Year 40 of the New Eryx era" the king answered immediately.

'So… it's been almost thirty-eight years since I left. No wonder so many things have changed.'

click!

Asher glanced down at the chains binding him.

They were elegant—layered enchantments interwoven with suppression magic, designed not to overpower, but to consume.

Mana flowed out of him in a steady, controlled stream, siphoned away and dispersed into the pillars and floor array.

Efficient.

He noted it with approval.

'The quality of his spells is far better now. I think he's more powerful than Ashley and Ash in terms of spell mastery alone. His mana is astounding too, despite not inheriting my dragon bloodline.'

Even so, he wasn't worried.

The drain was slow. At this rate, it would take an absurdly long time before he even approached exhaustion.

"Let's cut to the chase. What are you doing in my castle?"

Asher lifted his gaze to meet his son's.

"I came back,"

The king frowned. "That's not an explanation. You--"

Bang!

The massive doors of the throne room slammed open, mana rippling outward as a woman rushed in.

Her silver hair flowed freely down her back, strands wet and glossy.

She wore a white high-ranking magus robe—layers of enchanted fabric reinforced with the highest enhancements this place had to offer.

"Mother, what are you doing here? It's dangerous." Arkel demanded. "Do you know this intruder?"
