Chapter 310

Trisha didn’t have to look behind her to know that she was sliding into a deadly trap.

Reacting instantly, she slammed her foot into the ground, sending a layer of frost racing across the earth before whirling around with her hands crossed in front of her face.

An ice armor began spreading across her forearms with rapid velocity.

Soon, her hands were fully encased in ice, just in time for the oncoming spears to smash into her guard, shoving her backward a few inches.

Gritting her teeth, she deflected the spears upward, sending them shooting into the air.

Leaning forward, she suddenly began gliding across the terrain as if she were skating.

And that was because she actually was—slamming her foot into the dirt earlier had allowed her to create a smooth path of ice that granted her forward momentum.

Unhesitatingly, she bashed her ice-encased right forearm into the head of one of the creatures, blasting the skeleton away.

It hadn’t even landed when she smashed her hand into the skull of another, snapping the bony neck beneath it before spinning around to hammer her leg into the side of a third opponent.

For the final one, her ice sword flashed forward to slice its arms off before an ice column burst from her palm, leaving a gaping hole in its skull.

Yet, despite her efforts, the sheer volume of the skeletons showed no signs of thinning.

Instead, the horde kept multiplying, and she was beginning to get overwhelmed from every direction.

Creatures she normally would have defeated in a single strike were now managing to graze her body as numbers swallowed her position whole.

....

Even Chloe, who had just joined the fray, finally realized why she had always preferred long-range engagements and archery.

Being on the frontline was definitely a nightmare scenario for her.

She wasn’t skilled in close-quarters brawling or swordplay.

All she could rely on was her bow, which she wielded desperately against the surrounding monsters to at least turn the tides in her favor—even if only slightly.

Parrying a spear with the riser of her bow, she blasted the creature backward using her telekinesis before ducking in the nick of time as a sword rushed past her head.

Only for a heavy shield to bash into her face with immense momentum, launching her backward.

She crashed into the earth and tumbled across it for a second before a spear was lunged toward her head.

Suddenly, a severed skull flew across the battlefield, smashing into the hand holding the weapon and breaking it off.

This bought enough time for Chloe to spring to her feet and swing her bow toward the creature’s fragile neck, snapping it in two.

Glancing up for a moment, she could see Ray leaping into the air, swinging his leg around to turn the bones into a pile of dust—though the remnants would still rise up and reassemble against him.

Honestly, Trisha and Chloe were pushing themselves to their absolute limits as the environment itself seemed to turn against them.

The entire landscape was suddenly plunged into darkness.

It was already nighttime.

Now, their battle became five times more grueling as their vision was stripped away from them, while the creatures seemed perfectly capable of navigating the dark.

As for Ray, his hybrid senses allowed him to see without any hindrance.

A golden lasso of light materialized in his hand, which he spun around for a few seconds like a cowboy.

Then, hurling it forward, the lasso perfectly wrapped around the neck of a creature.

He yanked it forward, lifting the skeleton completely off the ground before spinning it through the air, sending the bony body smashing into the comrades that had tried to trap him in a tight enclosure.

Sending them hurling away, it gave Ray breathing space to realize that he couldn’t see the girls anymore.

But due to the fact that more creatures were heading in different directions, he reckoned that they were still alive.

’Ho-How many hours have we been fighting for now?’

[Four hours.]

Tightening his jaws, Ray realized that they were in a serious pickle.

Will they have to fight overnight?

Alas! The short respite he gained was vanquished as the creatures he scattered began rising back up with astonishing speed while more headed his way.

Shifting into a combat stance while controlling his breathing, he wrapped the lasso around his hand and then slammed his knuckles into one another.

"Come on! All of YOU!"

.....

Bang—! Bang—! Bang—! Boom—!

The sound of battle raged on with vigor with the Aspirants barely scraping through.

From a few scratches, Trisha now bore deep injuries.

Some on her shoulder, a slash across her cheek that dripped with blood.

A puncture to her thigh and some minor slashes here and there while her meta-force was now totally depleted, leaving her to fight purely with her sword skill.

Her breathing was more than labored, but she still fought with pure will.

Chloe was now close to her breaking point as she suffered even more grievous injuries than Trisha.

A puncture could be seen on her abdomen, two stabs to her thighs, and a head wound that oozed blood repeatedly.

Ray had a few minor scratches here and there, but nothing too serious.

He had been helping Chloe wherever he could from his position, but with how trapped he was from all corners, there was barely anything he could do.

How many hours more they had been fighting for?

They had no idea.

The girls couldn’t see as the landscape was still dark.

And it even grew darker because the creatures had covered them from all corners, barely letting any light seep through.

’Fuck. Fuck. Fuck. How do we win this fight?! Come on!’

The moment Ray finished raging and bashing his whole arm into the chest of a creature, he lifted his head to see the morning sun rising quickly.

The moment the first ray of sunlight hit the Bone Ridge, the skeletons all froze in unison.

They waited several seconds while the Aspirants were finally given a few moments of breathing space.

The very next second, just as quickly as they had been assembling, the creatures were falling back down like a stack of cards.

Weapons fell, limbs detached from their bodies, followed by their skulls and anything that made up their humanoid forms.

The three Aspirants were now on their knees, panting hard while watching this phenomenon happen with confused looks on their faces.

Was it finally over?
