Chapter 343

They all walked into the cavern and the moment they did, Felix quickly rushed forward towards a corner and with all his might, he began pushing a stone.

An enormous boulder could be seen rolling forward while the werewolf pushed with all his might.

"Er.... What are you doing?" Kai asked with a suspicious look.

Felix didn’t reply.

Or more like he was incapable of doing so at the moment as he was entirely focused on pushing the boulder towards the entrance of the cavern.

"Felix....?" Ray called out.

"He is trying to seal the entrance," Caster was the one who replied this time.

"And why?" Trisha asked with a raised brow.

Caster smiled softly.

"I don’t know about you all but we have encountered a few break-ins from the wolves that inhabit this place and it turned into a gruesome fight."

"I don’t understand. Don’t they come out at night alone?" Chloe questioned.

BAM!

The boulder was slammed into the entrance with the whole place shaking for a moment while Felix cleaned his hands together.

The whole place was now filled with darkness as the only source of light was shut out.

"They not only come at night but in the day too. Although their numbers aren’t as many as during the night, it’s still a hassle to deal with.

Trust us, we had to learn that the hard way," Felix chuckled as he strode forward and stood in the middle of the group.

"I don’t know about you all, but it’s hard to see in this place," Chloe gulped silently.

Ray didn’t panic as he folded his hands across his chest while staring at each and everybody’s faces and actions as clear as day.

And most especially, Nebula.

So far, she looked normal as she clutched Chloe’s arm who was beside her for a moment.

Soon, the werewolf crouched down and struck a stone together a few times until it lit a dry bonfire of twigs and a few branches here and there mixed with bone.

It caught ablaze, illuminating the whole cavern.

The others breathed a sigh of relief.

The cavern itself didn’t go in that deep but it was incredibly wide, and at the back was a dead wolf beast that looked like it had just been recently killed.

"Chloe... will you come help me dress up the dead beast?" Nebula flashed a smile at the girl.

"Of course. Let’s go." Chloe smiled then turned to look at Trisha, who had her eyes fixed on them intently.

"Trish... wanna come along to help?"

The girl just threw her head to the side then grumbled,

"Only because I don’t want you both messing it up."

"Yayyy!" Nebula clapped excitedly then gestured for the girl to come along.

Soon enough, frost began creeping up her hands and then, a pair of ice daggers materialized in Trisha’s hands as she strode forward.

Ray tracked the girls with his eyes as they went to dress the beast while the boys all sat around the bonfire.

"So for the sake of the girls at the back, I will be as audible as possible so everybody can be on the same page," Caster declared.

Everybody nodded.

Though his eyes were not on them anymore, Ray’s perception of the whole place was still active as he acted like nothing was wrong and calmed his tense body while observing everybody keenly.

"..... Anyway, like I said; that tower there....uh it’s called the Obsidian Spire. Well, that spire is our ticket out of here."

"And I ask; how do you know this?" Kai asked with a raised brow.

Felix smiled.

"Well, Nebula told us."

Ray and Van’s brows knit immediately.

"Huh? How would she know that information?"

Trisha asked mid-skin of the meat in front of her as she lifted her gaze towards the beautiful girl before her.

Sighing, Nebula rose up with black blood dripping down her hands.

"Let me explain once more."

The others shifted their attention towards the girl while Ray remained in his position with his back to her and arms folded.

"So unlike you all that fell in separate regions, I actually fell close to the Spire. Unfortunately, I was attacked by a wolf and since I don’t have a combat ability, I ran into a cave close to the Spire."

She paused for a few seconds.

Seeing as everybody was listening, she continued:

"Inside the cave, I waited till morning and when it was... I was shocked to see writings, drawings even. Like a journal or a map on the walls of the cave."

"Hm? Journal?" Van questioned with a lifted brow.

Nebula nodded while Trisha and Chloe continued skinning and dressing the beast.

"Yes. It seems this land isn’t as we thought it was. This place... this world is different from every other beast world as the gate, which is the pathway into this place, can spawn briefly in different places and has the ability to suck people into it.

Usually, red gates aren’t like this. Red gates act like every other, just with a slight difference."

"Meaning?" Kai asked.

"Just like other gates appear.... I mean a gate break; it will require the whole world to be cleared and the boss of that gate killed in order to close the gate.

But a red gate is the same, and it just doesn’t suck people in and vanish like that. Which is why I concluded that this one is different... special even."

"The maps?" Kai questioned.

"Well... it seems like this gate had appeared on another planet where humans live on and in the process, sucked some people inside. So the journals I found and the maps seemed to be created by some of the previous people that were here.

The maps were detailed constructs of all the major regions in this world and even a journal of their journeys and also what the spire is.

It seemed like they had tried conquering the spire but failed and only one escaped, and before he died completely, he wrote one last thing in the journal I saw."

Ray was more than intrigued as he turned around to look at the girl with a cocked brow.

"What did he write?"

Nebula thought for a few seconds then replied.

"We were so close but ultimately failed. Freedom was right in front of us but ultimately, its trial was just too tough."
