Chapter 345

Slowly turning her head around to face Ray, she cracked a steady smile.

"Sure. Why not?"

Caster turned the piece of meat in his hand around then looked in Ray’s direction.

"Although, to get there we would have to pass a pack of wolves because of how dangerous the area is. Also; I noticed something. The closer we are to the Spire, the more the wolves grow feral and somewhat faster than their rank."

Trish lifted a brow while turning a piece of meat around.

"Doesn’t that mean that they are really stronger than the rank?"

Caster shook his head.

"No. From what I has seen, these guys are still Advanced rank beasts to the core but slightly stronger than they should be."

Ray nodded along.

"Oh. Crazy then." He smiled subtly as he looked back in Nebula’s direction to see her smiling as usual with Chloe.

Van sighed and stood up.

"Uh... how do we know if it’s already nighttime with the entrance sealed?"

Felix shrugged.

"I can tell. Remember? I’m different from you guys."

"Which I’m still shocked that you are a werewolf. I honestly can’t believe that. I always thought it was a myth," Nebula spoke with an excited gleam in her eyes.

"Right? I was also shocked too when I found out that Ray is one too," Chloe chuckled.

"Oh?" Nebula muttered as she turned her head in Ray’s direction. "He’s one too?"

Ray frowned at Chloe but unfortunately, she didn’t notice.

Then he turned towards Felix.

"You told her what you are so quick? What about the supposed ’werewolf code’ you speak of?"

Felix just waved his hand with a chuckle.

"Relax bro. I trust her."

Ray nodded and then stood up.

He turned away and began walking towards the sealed entrance.

Looking at his hands for a few seconds, he grabbed the boulder and began rolling it away with a single hand.

"Huh? What are you doing?" Caster asked.

"I need to pee. Even werewolves pee too," Ray replied without looking behind him.

"Woah. It looks like you have grown stronger. How can you move that with a single hand?" Felix exclaimed with a shocked look.

Ray gave no reply as his perception was suddenly invaded by someone glaring at him intently.

He already knew who it was.

He smiled discreetly and walked outside, leaving the others behind.

Standing on a mountain far away from the cavern they were sheltering at, Ray crouched down and looked straight ahead in the direction of the Obsidian Spire.

From where he was, he could see the incredibly black spire and yet, he couldn’t see any strange bird creatures swirling around the Spire.

’Hm.’

«You are suspicious too. So why do you keep shutting Van down?» Elyon asked, genuinely confused.

Ray didn’t react like he had heard the celestial but yet gave a reply.

’And who says that I’m suspicious? Her story is perfectly plausible with no cracks at all. And I totally believe them all.’

«Hm? Why are you deceiving yourself? What’s going on in your mind?»

’I think this conversation is enough. Halt it.’

«Huh?»

Ray sighed then stood up from his crouched position before stretching.

He stretched so hard he could hear his body cracking in all the right places.

Then he let his perception flow—feeling the sound of footsteps from the beasts in the area and then the movement of the air.

Staring ahead, for some reason, it seemed like the mist which was in the distance was drawing closer with every passing second.

"I should probably head back to the cavern now. The meal should be ready by now," he muttered, then leaped off the mountain and landed on the ground smoothly.

He began striding forward with his hands tucked in his pockets as he kept smiling every few minutes.

«Have you finally lost your mind? Why do you keep smiling?»

’Nothing much. Just kept recalling some funny videos I watched before on my dad’s phone when I was younger before he-he.... Nevermind about that.’

As he was walking forward, he decided to engage the celestial some more.

’Being a werewolf is really incredible. I can see immensely far, have incredible strength, and even move faster than anybody. The only downside is I grow hungry too fast.’

«Eh? What about me? Do—»

’And can you believe it? I also have voices in my head. Hahaha! Crazy. I’m crazy. Ah... I can’t wait to leave this damned world and return back to our world so I can see my mum and sister again. Too sad that dad is still at war.’

Bruce, who was in the dark corner of the mindspace, raised a brow at the boy’s strange words.

What was he yapping about?

«Ohoy~! Are you mad? Wasn’t it you that said your family is de—»

’... Definitely waiting for me. Yeah.’

Then, he reached the cavern, and at the entrance, Nebula could be seen leaning against the wall with her foot anxiously tapping the ground.

"Hm? Why are you here?" Ray asked with a raised brow.

Nebula smiled then rushed forward and pulled him by the arm.

"I was waiting for you. The meat has been ready and everybody has been waiting for you so we can begin eating."

Ray briefly looked at the girl’s hands holding his and then relaxed with a calm smile, then turned around to seal the entrance.

"Just let it be. Come on," Nebula urged as she pulled him along.

Ray nodded and walked deeper into the cavern, where he could see them all sitting around the bonfire that was still crackling with flames, but the meat had been set down and everybody was looking at it.

Felix was even salivating, a moment away from ripping into it.

"Ohoy~! Where have you been? My stomach has been growling for a while. Tch! We wanted to begin eating but Nebula kept insisting that we wait for you. Tsk. And you were suspecting her? She’s so nice," Felix scoffed before turning his gaze towards the meat in front of him.

Van stared at his friend for a few seconds then looked away.

Ray smiled.

"I’m sorry. Couldn’t find an area free from beasts in time."

He walked forward and took his seat.

Then he was served his own share by Nebula.

Their hands brushed while Ray smiled some more.

"Thank you."

Nebula clapped.

"Come on guys. Let’s eat."

Ray wasted no time in biting his own piece of meat, but his gaze wasn’t fixed on it but on the space in front of him as if he was reading something.

The next moment, he smirked quietly.

’Oh?!’
