My Wife is a Hidden Big Shot
Chapter 383 - 359: Kane Family Boxing (1)
The man was Kyle Kane’s father, Lucas Kane, the heir to the thirty-six forms of Kane Style Boxing.
His family had run a dojo in Crestfall for generations. He himself had once been quite powerful, but an accident occurred during a match. Not only was his best friend left severely injured and in a coma, but Lucas himself was left unable to stand ever again.
When people found them, they saw only two men on the brink of death. No one knew what had actually happened to them.
From then on, Lucas Kane never recovered. He not only closed the dojo, but also had his wife sell it off at a low price to pay for his friend’s medical treatment.
The family moved to the countryside, far from the drama and conflict of their old life.
"Mr. Kane, look what we got!" Blondie came running out of the house after finishing his meal, holding the certification papers.
Although Lucas Kane was stunned, his expression darkened. "Zack, go get Kyle."
The smile on Blondie’s face faded a little. He turned and went back inside to get him, a confused look on his face.
Mrs. Kane nudged Lucas Kane from the side. "Talk to them nicely. Don’t scare the boys."
Lucas Kane patted her hand. "Push me to the side room."
Kyle Kane went to the side room with a stiff expression. A moment later, the sound of arguing came from within.
It was mostly Lucas Kane’s voice. It seemed he didn’t want Kyle to open a dojo.
Blondie and the others squatted in the courtyard, smoking nervously.
"Auntie, don’t tell me Mr. Kane still won’t agree to us opening the dojo?" Zack Sutton asked Mrs. Kane.
Mrs. Kane brought out a basin of washed cucumbers and tomatoes for the young men. Glancing toward the side room, she said comfortingly, "Mr. Kane has been this stubborn for decades."
"We’ve already rented the space. We were just waiting for this certification to open up." Zack Sutton grabbed a cucumber and took a bite.
Just then, the door to the side room was flung open by Kyle Kane. He strode out with a dark expression on his face, while Lucas Kane’s shout could still be heard from inside:
"There’s a problem with the Kane Family Boxing! You’re going to get people hurt—"
Kyle Kane’s fists suddenly clenched. He couldn’t help but turn back and roar, "I know there’s nothing wrong with the technique!"
Then he strode toward the main gate, the thunderous slam of the door revealing his current mood.
"Boss..."
The boys exchanged glances, immediately stood up, and hurried after Kyle Kane, running out.
Mrs. Kane complained worriedly to Lucas Kane, "I told you to talk to him nicely. How is our son supposed to face his friends now?"
"This is all your fault for spoiling him." Lucas Kane glared at his wife, sulking with a dark expression.
’The Kane Style Boxing had a total of thirty-six forms. There was indeed no problem with the first thirty-two. But his own father had forbidden him from practicing the final four, saying they were killing techniques that came with severe consequences.’
’Back then, he had been young and reckless just like Kyle, refusing to believe the warnings. He secretly practiced the final four forms and didn’t notice anything wrong with his body.’
’It was only after his strength gradually broke through to the level of a martial master that the final four moves suddenly became a burden, becoming harder and harder for him to execute.’
’Until...’
A trace of fear and regret appeared in Lucas Kane’s eyes.
Suddenly, the light in front of him dimmed. He looked up to see the unfamiliar young woman standing beside him, watching him with a calm expression.
Lucas Kane’s gaze darkened. "Can I help you with something?"
"Why did you say there’s a problem with the Fist Technique?"
A sliver of vigilance rose in Lucas Kane’s heart. Although the accident was a decade ago, it was inevitable that someone might still be secretly paying attention to the matter. That was why he didn’t want Kyle to open a dojo.
"Young lady, are you very interested in our Kane Family’s Fist Technique?"
Dawn Miles looked at him for a moment, then shook her head.
Lucas Kane had his wife push him out into the courtyard. He gestured to the stone table and said politely, "Please, have a seat. You’re the one who helped my son get that certification, aren’t you?"
Dawn Miles gave a slight nod. "I was the guarantor."
"Miss, that boy is dead set on opening a dojo, so he kept something from you. The Kane Family Boxing really does have a problem. Ten years ago, it caused a martial artist to suffer a catastrophic backlash, and he’s been in a coma ever since."
Lucas Kane kept his eyes on the girl opposite him, but her face was devoid of any expression, making it impossible to guess what she was thinking.
"So, for the sake of future students, I’d like to ask you, Miss, to persuade him not to open a dojo and lead others to ruin."
As soon as he finished speaking, Dawn Miles suddenly asked, "Is it because of the final four moves?"
With a CRACK, the teacup on the stone table was instantly crushed in his hand.
Tea trickled out from between his coarse fingers.
Mrs. Kane jumped in fright; her husband’s expression was incredibly grim.
"You saw them?"
"Kyle Kane performed the Kane Family Boxing yesterday and told me the final four moves cannot be used lightly."
Lucas Kane’s expression hit rock bottom. He truly hadn’t expected his own son to tell an outsider everything.
’Is this girl really that trustworthy?’
Dawn Miles continued, "The final four moves do indeed have a problem."
Lucas Kane snorted. "If that’s the case, why did you still help him open a dojo?"
"Because your level of Strength wasn’t high enough to use the final four moves. That’s why you couldn’t control them."
Lucas Kane’s eyes flew wide with shock. He sized her up for a long moment before his voice came out, slightly unsteady, "What do you mean by that?"
Suddenly, the branches of the tree in the courtyard began to shake violently. Yellowing leaves fell with a RUSTLE, forming a rapidly spinning sphere in front of the girl.
She was actually performing the final four forms of Kane Family Boxing right in front of him. The energy fluctuations within the sphere of leaves before her grew stronger and stronger, so dangerous that his face turned pale. He screamed in terror to his wife behind him:
"Get out of here—"
His rough voice cracked from the strain.
The Strength in the courtyard grew increasingly terrifying. Pebbles on the ground began to dance, and the teacups on the table had long since shattered from the pressure.
"Miss, stop—"
Dawn Miles leaped up in an instant, landing on the roof of the Kane’s house. She unleashed the terrifying energy in her hands toward the empty lot behind the courtyard.
Fortunately, the Kane Family lived in a relatively remote area, and there was a large, empty lot behind their backyard.
With a deafening BOOM, the entire ground shook as if there were an earthquake, sending three distinct tremors through the area.
Lucas Kane’s face was pale. He looked up in awe at the girl standing on the roof, his arm tightening around his wife.
"Push me... let’s go outside and see..."
Mrs. Kane’s legs felt weak. It took her a long moment to steady her nerves before she could push Lucas Kane outside.
On their way, they ran into the group of boys, who were running back after hearing the noise.
"Dad, Mom, are you okay?" Kyle Kane’s eyes were filled with panic.
Villagers living nearby also ran out to see what happened. They saw a large, circular crater in the empty lot behind the Kane’s backyard, more than half a meter deep.
"Master Kane, why did the ground collapse?"
Lucas Kane struggled to keep his voice steady. "I was thinking of digging a cellar a few days ago, must not have done it right. Sorry to have startled everyone."
"Oh, that’s good. There’s a trick to digging cellars. I’ll have Manny come help you guys later."
"Thank you..."
Kyle Kane had a nagging feeling that the crater and the loud noise were related to Dawn Miles. His heart tightened, and he immediately ran back toward the house.
"Dawn Miles—"
He saw her just as she was strolling out of his house, hands in her pockets.
"Are... are you okay?" Kyle Kane asked, momentarily stunned, a complex look on his face.
"Your family’s Fist Technique is very powerful," Dawn Miles replied faintly, shaking her head slightly.
Kyle Kane froze, then quickly stepped in front of her to block her path. His gaze was feverish. "That was..."
"The final four moves."
Kyle Kane’s face slowly broke into a joyful expression.
Because Dawn Miles had acted as his guarantor, he had told her a little about what happened to his family back then. Afterward, she had asked him to perform the Kane Family Boxing once, including the final four moves he had secretly learned.
She hadn’t said anything at the time, only that she wanted to go home with him.
He had been anxious all night, afraid that there really was a problem with the technique.
He never imagined that the loud noise and the huge crater were the true power of the final four moves.
"Boss, Mr. Kane is calling for you..."
