Chapter 19: Unknown Powerhouse

"Your Highness, what did that man mean when he said that pride is not allowed when speaking to him?"

The ginger woman with curly hair asked as she followed her prince through the door leading to the second floor.

Prince Cain shrugged his shoulders.

"I’m not sure, but who cares, Ruth? This is the Elurion Tower. We will most likely find him dead on the second floor."

The trio pushed through the door and found themselves standing in a strange room.

In the room were numerous baby slimes made from blue gelatinous gel. They jumped around the large colosseum, leaving trails of sludge behind them.

There were at least one hundred of these slimes spread throughout the room, blocking the way to the door on the other side.

It wasn’t a difficult floor, but for someone without speed spells, it would be difficult to get through.

The slimes would jump onto your head and suffocate you.

Yet when Prince Cain looked around...

"There’s no sign of him," Ruth pointed out, already having drawn her shortsword from her back. "Not only that, but no slimes have been killed..."

Prince Cain scratched at his chin.

These slimes carry valuable resources for a commoner. Running past them is absurd.

...

Could he be trying to rush to the 90th floor to challenge the bosses?

Prince Cain thought for a few moments before coming to a decision.

If he waited much longer, the other parties would follow behind and catch up to him.

"Ruth, Mary, open up a pathway. We are chasing after that soloist."

...

On the 10th floor...

Charles emerged onto the 10th floor and found himself standing in a colosseum that was made to mimic grass plains.

At the centre of the colosseum, the grass rose into a small hill. On top of that hill sat a giant blue slime the size of a small house.

Charles, who was still feeling energetic and was unharmed from avoiding combat on the previous floors, focused on the crystal above the slime’s head.

「Bobbeh」

Grade: Veteran [3rd Grade]

Potential: Elite [4th Grade]

Class: King Slime

...

A smile spread across Charles’ face despite facing down a boss.

"I’ve been waiting to find one of you. I’ll be needing some of your slime for my wife."

Bobbeh the King Slime didn’t speak. Instead, he contracted his body and let out a burst that sent smaller slimes rolling down the hill towards Charles.

Most creatures in the world didn’t gain speech until they reached 5th Grade, Master.

Bobbeh was only a Veteran. He wasn’t even much stronger than the leech that lived inside the Scorching Greatworm’s body.

In Charles’ eyes, this boss was fodder.

He watched as the slimes rolled towards him.

As soon as the first stepped into range, Charles stepped to the side and slashed out with his extremely sharp red dragon-scale dagger, which came from the body of a 5th Grade Sage.

The dagger easily sliced the slime in half, sending its body splattering onto the grass on either side of him.

The messy slime spread across the grass, and Charles wasted no time grabbing a chunk of it with his hands and placing it inside his body.

「King Slime Gel」

Nice...

As for the other slimes that were rolling towards him, Charles simply looked at them and activated his spell.

﹂[Editor’s Authority Cast] ~ Awaiting authoritative words...

"Dirtying my clothes with slime gel is not allowed."

The slimes wanted to attack the Adept soloist, but because their bodies were made from such a messy substance, they swerved directions and continued down the hill, going right past him.

Charles was now an Adept, so using these spells, especially on weaker creatures, was much less straining on his mana source.

Not to mention, he was not making any significant changes to the laws.

Prohibiting anyone from dirtying his clothes with slime gel was a lot easier than prohibiting them from doing him any harm.

After finding what he needed, Charles circled around the hill, avoiding the King Slime completely.

He didn’t plan on clearing out any of the lower floors for those who might come after him.

As for the rewards and resources, he would only begin to harvest them when he passed the 50th floor.

With that, Charles reached the 11th floor and continued up the tower.

...

On the 10th floor...

Prince Cain and his party of Ruth and Mary stepped onto the 10th floor and came face-to-face with the King Slime.

Up to this point, the prince had assumed that the soloist had either left the tower somehow or died in a way that made his body vanish.

However, when he arrived here, Ruth immediately pointed something out to him.

Halfway down the hill, there was a slime with its body split in half. This confirmed that the soloist was somehow still alive and was making his way up the tower without being harmed.

"My prince, doesn’t this mean that he isn’t rushing the bosses? Otherwise, the King Slime would be dead," Ruth pointed out.

Mary, whose hair was blonde and braided, nodded her head in agreement.

They were both beautiful knights of the Elite Grade, sworn to protect the prince wherever he went.

Prince Cain scrunched up his handsome face. Every theory he was putting together was being disproven.

Rather than answering his knights, he gave a simple order.

"Slay the slime and keep some of its gel. I’ve heard it has great healing properties."

Ruth drew her silver sword, whilst Mary drew her black warhammer.

The duo nodded their heads in unison before charging up the hill to fulfil their prince’s orders.

Prince Cain watched from the bottom of the hill, scratching at his chin.
