Chapter 1422: Chapter 1422: In Case of Emergency

"The scope of this white fog is quite vast."

The sun had shifted positions, and the shade of the trees had become smaller, now he could only shrink into a tiny corner.

He was so hot that he was sweating all over and had no ideas, subconsciously glancing toward Arnold and Hannah, "Shall we go in now?"

Hannah remained silent.

Arnold looked up at the depths of the fog and then at the others, "If no one has any objections, we can go in now."

The desolation nodded, with no objections.

Gregory naturally had no objections either, "Going in sooner or later is all the same, better than sunbathing here."

Only Hannah hadn’t spoken yet.

Everyone looked over at her.

Hannah was silent for a while before saying, "Let’s go."

Gregory got up with evident excitement.

Like a kindergarten child thrilled for a spring outing.

...

The dense and fine white fog was like steam fogging up a bathroom on a winter’s day.

It was a place even the sun could not penetrate.

All that could be seen was an expanse of white so immaculately clean.

Hannah and Arnold walked hand in hand at the front.

Gregory then followed behind with desolation.

Having walked about a dozen meters, looking back, they could no longer see the path whence they came.

Gregory thought it over and still grabbed onto desolation’s black robe.

Desolation glanced at him, and Gregory flashed him a big smile.

"Idiot," he mocked coldly but didn’t bother with Gregory tugging at his robe. 𝗳𝚛𝚎𝚎𝘄𝕖𝕓𝕟𝕠𝚟𝚎𝕝.𝗰𝕠𝐦

Gregory muttered, "Better an idiot than lost."

In the white fog, they could barely see anything; visibility was less than a meter.

From Gregory’s position, they could only faintly make out Arnold and Hannah’s silhouettes.

The ground beneath their feet was no different from outside the fog.

Fallen leaves, soil, occasionally they’d come across some brightly colored flowers.

Yet even so, it still gave off a feeling of deadly stillness.

As if everything had come to a halt right there.

There was no birdsong, nor any sound of wind.

All along their way, they hadn’t encountered any hindrances.

It was like walking on flat ground.

Hannah looked back at Gregory, who was already a bit out of breath, before turning to Arnold, "Are we really just going to keep walking like this?"

Arnold gazed into the white fog, "If what desolation says is true, we’ll need at least two days to reach a place without fog."

Resting in the white fog was a dangerous affair.

Although desolation had said he didn’t encounter any mutated beasts the last time, they still couldn’t gamble with the ’what if.’

"What if he’s lying?" Hannah lightly swung her long sword, parting the dense fog in front of her, but quickly, the fog gathered back together.

Arnold looked down at Hannah beside him, his lips slightly pursed.

Hannah looked up at him.

In the fog, his eyes were like black gems, deep, dark, and glossy.

So beautiful it made one want to collect them.

Hannah’s voice slowly continued, "You haven’t considered the possibility that he’s lying?"

Arnold shook his head, "I just feel, he has no need to lie."

Because it’s pointless.

They had no conflicts of interest between them.

"And what if he’s here to kill me?" Hannah went on.

Without contemplation, Arnold responded directly, "He can’t beat me, and I won’t let you get hurt."

He had agreed to let desolation join them because the man had experience traversing the fog.

But if desolation truly harbored ill intentions, he would deal with him directly.

Hannah tugged gently at the hand holding Arnold’s, drawing their distance closer.
