Chapter 1433: Recalling the Past
Sixth Hoffman was blunt as he began.
Although they had known Jade for quite some time, every time they spoke with her they couldn’t help but slow their pace of speech.
It wasn’t that they were being distant, it was just that without the boss there, they were afraid of frightening her.
Jade’s hand, holding a handkerchief, tightened slightly, "Is it Hannah?"
"Ah..." Even though it wasn’t the first time he had heard this nickname, Sixth Hoffman still almost choked on his words.
Nicholas kicked him and warned him with a look not to speak out of turn.
Sixth Hoffman had no choice but to look away.
Nicholas continued, "Here’s the thing, Jade, we’ve just received the latest news that the boss has entered the Blackwood Forest, so we wanted to ask you what you think about it."
Hannah’s venture into the Blackwood Forest was of course not as simple as Sixth Hoffman had put it.
Jade looked down and didn’t immediately respond, "Sorry, let me think about it."
Sixth Hoffman nodded, "Alright, take your time. I’ll have someone prepare dinner for you. We caught two mutant rabbits today, so for dinner..."
Before he could finish, Nicholas stuffed a piece of meat into Sixth Hoffman’s mouth.
Meeting Jade’s gaze, Nicholas grinned awkwardly, "Sixth is talking nonsense. We know you’re vegetarian and we absolutely wouldn’t let your meal be tainted with meat. We don’t even use oil."
Jade nodded faintly, "I appreciate it." 𝑓𝘳𝑒𝑒𝓌𝘦𝘣𝘯ℴ𝑣𝘦𝑙.𝘤𝑜𝑚
Sixth Hoffman removed the meat from his mouth, "It’s no trouble at all, we’re all one family—"
Nicholas quickly pushed him away to prevent him from saying anything more.
"Don’t overthink it."
Jade shook her head, "I won’t."
Though she said she wouldn’t, her face reddened.
Nicholas sighed, their boss had brought back a "little monk" in training.
Completely abstaining from meat, speaking softly and politely, with scriptures at her bedside, she was just short of chanting Amitabha with them daily.
The story between Hannah and Jade had started with just one thing.
As Sixth Hoffman said, their boss’s "heart overflowed with love."
Picking up animals, and also picking up people.
And Jade was one of the people... Hannah had picked up?
...
When Hannah first took over the Wanderers, it was their most difficult time.
No food, no drink, and no money, wherever they went they were shunned.
The planets had long been claimed by others, with nowhere to go.
To put it bluntly, which one of these wanderers wasn’t burdened with deep-seated vengeance, with national and familial hatred?
But what of it?
Seek revenge?
The prerequisite was, they had to survive.
Fortunately, they later met Hannah.
It wasn’t really a meeting so much as Hannah was someone they picked up on the battlefield.
They were so starved at the time, they thought of scouring the deserted battlefields of planets to see if they could find anything valuable.
Who knew they would pick up a "big shot."
At the time, Hannah was covered in blood, appearing to have only outbreaths left and no inbreaths.
"Otherwise, while she’s unconscious, shall we kill her?"
Someone among the wanderers suggested.
"Kill? That doesn’t seem right; I’ve never killed anyone in my life."
"You’re just a coward!"
"Don’t forget, she is our enemy!"
The royal family’s ambitions were vast, so for Hannah, this ultimate weapon of theirs, they always took a "make full use" approach.
During her tenure as a commander, she invaded countless planets, big and small.
She had no choice because of her mother’s oath; she couldn’t defy the commands of her so-called "father."
She killed many people.
The interstellar situation was chaotic, people didn’t discuss good or evil, only strength and weakness, but they called her "a sinner."
