Chapter 188: Resentment
She is always the odd one out.
Later, she took the initiative to approach Jenny King, who had publicly mocked her as "tacky" on the first day of school.
Just as she wished, they became good friends.
But what about Jenny?
She probably just treats herself as her dog, right?
May Hoffman suddenly burst into laughter, covering her mouth. The look in her eyes was eerily stubborn as she echoed Jenny’s past tones, yet she was narrating her own past.
"May, this bag is a gift for you, could you help me write my homework?"
"May, this dress really suits you, it’s yours."
"I don’t feel like going to class today, May, could you sign in for me? And don’t forget to bring me lunch when you come back. I want the dumplings from King’s, and the milk tea from our regular place. Remember, half sugar for me."
Hannah just listened in silence, tilting her head with her eyes as calm as a nocturnal sea, concealing the darkness of the entire night.
She just quietly watched May performing.
Laughing, May’s eyes were filled with tears, her eyes were red-rimmed, and her voice suddenly broke, "Hannah Winter, do you know? The dumpling shop and the milk tea store are three streets apart. I spent the entire lunch break bringing her the food, but what about her?"
May forced a smile, "She complained that I was too late, and the lunch that I had spent so much effort and time on was thrown directly into the trash."
She gave a hideous smile and mockingly said, "I was really stupid."
Hannah was getting tired, having watched a one-woman show of mental breakdown.
She blinked back a yawn, and the tears edged out from the corners of her eyes, which she casually wiped away.
Her skin was incredibly delicate; a simple motion left a faint red mark, giving her upturned cat-like eyes a unique charm.
Hannah’s beauty was irresistible to most people.
She was delicately beautiful, naturally, and alluring, a beauty that could ruin cities, with the ability to capture hearts with a mere glance. Yet, at this moment, there was a hint of impatience in her eyes, "If you were really that stupid, Jenny wouldn’t have been taken in by you, and accepted you back even after knowing that the one pregnant with her boyfriend’s baby was her best friend."
Hannah always believed herself to be clever, although not as much as that person, but there were few things that she couldn’t comprehend.
One among them was the rapprochement between May and Jenny.
Your bestie slept with your boyfriend and even got pregnant with his child, even though the child was aborted later. Wouldn’t it be an understatement to say that this relationship between them is irreparable?
How could they make up after all this?
Are Blue Star people always so magnanimous?
Upon hearing this, May froze for a moment, then burst into laughter once again, in a low creepy tone, "So that’s what you whispered into Jenny’s ear that day, no wonder...".
She smirked, "Indeed, you saw through my seduction of Kay right away, so it’s not surprising that you know this too."
"You really are amazing," said May as she lifted her head.
With a radiant smile, Hannah replied, "I know."
May shook her head, seemingly regaining her sanity after being on the brink of madness, "I just can’t accept it. I really can’t."
This seems to have become her obsession, something she may never get over in her entire life.
