One-Eyed Monster
Chapter 852 - 850: Perkins’ Box (Part 2)
When Stan Sol heard the word "needlegrass," his body involuntarily twitched.
This plant is very rare, generally found only in areas where Water Spirits appear, but the Water Spirit's habits are unpredictable, so few people are willing to hunt for this grass.
But for Perkins to actually have the seeds of needlegrass, it means this guy is not simple at all!
Stan Sol opened his eyes. He had seen these needlegrass seeds in his family before, so he thought he could judge whether Perkins was bluffing or truly skilled.
"These seeds are precious, I absolutely wouldn't dare waste even half a seed, but just now I was forced into a situation where I had to use a few."
To Perkins, the needlegrass seeds are very valuable, so he specifically took out a broom to sweep the remnants on the ground back up.
Igor had no clue how these seeds worked. To satisfy his curiosity, he asked, "Can I see these seeds? I want to witness them myself."
"Of course, no problem. Let me tell you, although this thing is precious, only I know how to use it. That's the difference between me and all of you."
Igor found it intriguing and couldn't help but let out a sound of awe.
Stan Sol also felt a bit surprised, the surprised expression flashed across his face and left no traces.
"Luckily, I still have a few seeds left. Once we reach Luona, I can have even more," Perkins said while searching a box in his carriage. There were many boxes of various sizes on the carriage, but Igor and the others guessed most of the contents were Perkins' travel clothes and such, because it would be difficult for a Non-professional to conceal their luggage with a Concealment Spell and could only pack them in boxes.
Perkins pulled out a small cloth bag from one of the small boxes and poured out some fine objects.
"These are the seeds. Once they come in contact with the soil, they develop a dependency, so the seeds I swept back must be placed with the soil." Perkins explained, though he had only Igor as an audience, he shared with unremitting enthusiasm.
Sharing with others seemed to be a natural talent for him; once he started talking, regardless of how many listeners, he was eager to share.
Igor carefully observed what was in Perkins' hand, and meanwhile noticed Stan Sol was also watching the situation, so he quickly understood Stan Sol's intention; Stan Sol was interested in the needlegrass as well.
"Tsk tsk, these tiny things are no different from dandelion seeds," Igor remarked. Although he wasn't very knowledgeable, unlike Wizards who have some research in many plants, he aspired to be an Adventurer and thus knew a bit about certain plants.
"Dandelion seeds can fly with the wind, but needlegrass cannot; this thing loves soil."
"Uh, Sol said, isn't this thing supposed to grow in places where Water Spirits appear? Why does it have such an affection for soil?" Igor, capturing Stan Sol's doubts, asked thoughtfully.
Perkins was elated. His audience had increased to two people, making him feel a sense of accomplishment and increasing his enthusiasm for storytelling.
"Well, that's where the difference between an Apothecarist and others lies."
"What exactly is the difference?" Igor persistently dug for answers.
"Well, let me tell you, an Apothecarist's specialty is in utilizing the potential of potions."
What Perkins said actually didn't concern Stan Sol, but he did examine the seed, and with his ancient Hunter heritage, he could definitively say the seed was genuine, but he had never heard of needlegrass's effect on land before.
In Stan Sol's mind, needlegrass's effect was generally in water, helping sailors anchor ships or sometimes fix stones; this thing grew prolifically in water and was easily seen from a distance. Whenever sailors throw ropes attached to stones into the water, the ships can be anchored, which is quite useful during heavy storms as the ships anchored by needlegrass won't be blown away by winds and waves. However, this grass generally grows in areas where Water Spirits are active, making it hard to acquire, and rarely collected.
Stan Sol recalled his father once brought back needlegrass when he was young and later used it by the river for fishing...
So Sol always thought this grass had little use, and to confirm this thought, he specifically researched some materials and found records indicating the grass's effect was unknown.
Thus, Sol remained curious about this grass. Back in the day, his father went through great effort to catch it, only to use it for fishing, which was quite ironic.
His father told him it was normal; not all efforts would have corresponding rewards, and sometimes things occur meaninglessly.
Now Sol somewhat understood his father's words, yet he still wanted to figure out how Perkins used this grass.
"What exactly do you mean by the potential of potions?" Igor scratched his head, eagerly curious about these things.
"Besides making tea, do you know clover can also stop bleeding?" Perkins asked Igor.
"That's common knowledge!" Igor responded dismissively.
"Indeed it is, but do you know clover can also enhance a person's Spirit Power?"
"Nonsense, ordinary clover can enhance one's Spirit Power; I don't believe it," Igor said, holding onto his common sense firmly, doubting other possibilities.
"Hehe, let me tell you, coincidentally, I happen to have some clover here. Let's prove whether the conclusion we mentioned is nonsense."
"Alright, I still think it's impossible." Igor said confidently.
"Hehe, just wait and see." Perkins pulled out another box and then a glass bottle from it...
"You've got quite a variety of things in these boxes!" Igor remarked a bit dazed by the sight.
"These boxes are my treasures; they've accompanied me through many years and helped me overcome numerous challenges," Perkins said with a smile.
"This..." Igor was at a loss for words.
"Once you slowly realize your dream, you'll find the situations I'm talking about. The things that accompany us are naturally valuable and worth reminiscing about," Perkins said, as his boxes gradually drew people's attention...
