Oops! My Beast Mates Can Hear My Inner Voice
Chapter 12 - 11: Enough to Open a Zoo
While Mo Xiao was stunned, Su Mo squeezed his palm and discreetly traced a few words onto it.
Mo Xiao understood immediately.
He turned to the attackers and said, "If I am to die by your hands today, then so be it. But there’s one thing I don’t understand! Who are you working for?!"
"You’re about to die, so you don’t need to know!"
The lead Male Beastman gestured, and the group surged forward.
At the same time, Su Mo threw the Mandala Flower Powder in her hand!
She silently counted down in her mind, ’Five, four...’
With a collective THUD, the men instantly collapsed in a heap.
Mo Xiao stared at the men sprawled haphazardly on the ground, a flicker of disbelief in his dark eyes.
Su Mo dusted the powder from her hands and let out a long sigh. "You saved me once, I saved you once. Now we’re even!"
With that, she waved for the Little Dragons in the trees to come down. "It’s not safe to stay here. Let’s go home!"
Su Mo and the two Little Dragons huffed and puffed as they dragged their haul for the day, heading out of the woods.
Mo Xiao clutched his injured left shoulder, his expression complex as he stared at her slender back. He wanted to thank her, but the words caught in his throat.
Su Mo had only taken a few steps when the familiar voice rang in her mind.
"Host, he looks badly hurt. Aren’t you going to save him? You can get points, you know~"
Su Mo replied, ’Save him? Does he look like he wants my help? I’m not going to ask for a snub. I’m fine with not earning those points. Worst case, I’ll just save a few random people instead.’
"But Host, you can get 3,800 points for saving him! A random person is only worth 20 to 200 points~"
’Your system actually discriminates?! On what grounds is the life of that snake worth more than anyone else’s?!!!’
"That’s not it, exactly. It’s because he’s much harder to win over than a random person, so the System Mall gives a *few* more points for him~"
Su Mo was speechless. "..."
’You seem to have a major misunderstanding of the phrase "a few more."’
"Host, the points are being served to you on a platter. Do you really not want them?"
Su Mo glanced back at the man behind her, her eyes meeting Mo Xiao’s dark, unreadable gaze.
’Forget it. Annulling the engagement is the priority right now. I don’t want to get any more tangled up with him!’
’Having a fox and a bird at home is already vexing enough. If I add a snake to the mix, I’ll be able to open a zoo soon...’
"Why do you have to annul the engagement? Can’t you just not? He’s the Snake Lord’s Young Master, the future ruler of the Snake Clan. He’s handsome and powerful! The system shows that he can... you know... go for a very long time! He’s a prime candidate for a Beast Husband~"
Su Mo was speechless. ’You’re really desperate... He’s the main villain! Do you know what that means? According to the plot, we’re supposed to annul the engagement!’
"Little Nine doesn’t know what a villain is. Little Nine only knows that I’m your little cutie~ Making my Host happy is Little Nine’s ultimate goal."
’Spare me the empty flattery and give me something useful!’
"*Yawn*~ Little Nine is sleepy. I’m going to take a little nap~"
"..."
Su Mo cursed viciously in her heart. ’You damned mutt!’
Mo Xiao stood frozen, still trying to process what had happened. ’Who was Su Mo just talking to?’
’What villain? What plot?’
’Was "damned mutt" meant for him?!’
For some reason, whenever he thought about how Su Mo was now dead set on annulling their engagement, Mo Xiao felt a sense of displeasure, a tightness forming in his chest.
"BLECH—"
He couldn’t stop himself from spitting up a mouthful of blood.
Hearing the sound behind her, Su Mo subconsciously glanced back. The two Little Dragons turned their heads as well.
"Sister Mo, he looks really hurt. Are we really just going to leave him?"
Su Mo frowned. ’He does look like he’s in bad shape, but it can’t be so bad that he can’t walk, can it? Once he gets back to the tribe, someone will treat him. If I go running over to show concern, he’ll probably think I’m still hopelessly trying to win him over.’
’No, absolutely not! This annulment needs to be settled once and for all! I can’t let it drag on!’
"Let’s hurry back. It’ll be dark soon."
The two Little Dragons huffed and puffed as they dragged their things. The wild vegetables weren’t a problem, but they were also carrying a boar, which was a bit much for them.
Su Mo said, panting, "Once we get out of the woods, Nannan, you go ahead and get someone to help..."
Before she could finish, the weight she was pulling suddenly lightened.
Su Mo whipped her head around to see Mo Xiao hoisting the boar onto his shoulder.
"I’ll help you carry it."
With that, he strode quickly out of the forest.
Nannan watched his retreating back and said worriedly, "But you’re hurt!"
Mo Xiao: "It’s nothing."
Su Mo froze for a second, then quickly urged the two Little Dragons to follow him.
Just as they emerged from the woods, they ran into Fei Yan, who had come looking for them.
Fei Yan immediately spotted the wound on Mo Xiao’s shoulder. He took the boar from him and asked, "How did you end up coming back with our wife? And how did you get hurt?"
Mo Xiao didn’t answer his question. He just looked at Su Mo and said, "I’ll... be heading back now."
Su Mo’s brow furrowed slightly. Before she could speak, Fei Yan said, "Our wife is skilled in medicine. With an injury that severe, I’m afraid others won’t be able to treat it properly. Why don’t you let her take a look?"
Mo Xiao instinctively looked toward Su Mo.
Su Mo’s brow twitched. "If you trust my medical skills... you can come back with us and I’ll take a look."
’After all, this snake did just go out of his way to help her. It would be rude to refuse.’
"Thank you."
Hearing him say thank you, Su Mo froze.
’She never thought this cold and aloof snake would actually say "thank you" to her?!’
By the time Su Mo and the others reached their front door, the place was already bustling with activity.
A person who had been waiting anxiously at the entrance saw her return and hurried over.
The person grabbed her hand and said anxiously, "Su Mo, you’re finally back! Please, you have to take a look at my grandson. What on earth is wrong with him?"
Someone behind them was clutching their stomach, their face contorted in pain. "My stomach hurts, can you take a look at me too?"
Yue Ying came over and addressed the crowd, "Please form a line. Our wife will see you one by one!"
Fei Yan set down the boar and asked, "Where’s the Witch Doctor?"
The Witch Doctor had been suspended, but his right to practice medicine had not been revoked.
An elderly Female at the front of the crowd sighed. "They say the Witch Doctor has been sick for the past two days. Most of us with minor ailments could just bear it, but my grandson... he really can’t wait any longer!"
Fei Yan frowned. He knew perfectly well that the Witch Doctor was just throwing a tantrum directed at him.
’It was the Witch Doctor’s way of telling him that if he dared to suspend him, he would make sure the villagers had nowhere to turn for medical care.’
’It seemed he had truly underestimated this Witch Doctor.’
’But now wasn’t the time to settle scores. First, he had to deal with everyone’s problems.’
Following Su Mo’s instructions, Fei Yan and Yue Ying began organizing the patients in order of severity to make treatment more efficient.
Although Mo Xiao’s injury was severe, he had good stamina. Since treating his wound would be time-consuming, they first stopped the bleeding, planning to deal with the rest of it last.
