Chapter 85: Chapter 85 Bribery

Oliver, Flora, and Husk entered the Knowledge Orb room together. The moment Oliver stepped inside, memories from three years ago immediately resurfaced in his mind. The day he first officially registered as a dungeon hunter and tamer.

Knowledge Orbs existed in nearly every Tamer Guild throughout the kingdom. Their purpose was simple, to detect the mana within a person’s body and classify them according to seven different ranks.

These seven ranks would then determine the official Tamer Rank someone received.

Starting from Iron, Steel, Mithril, Orihalcum, Adamantite, Aetherium and finally Eclipse.

Back then, Oliver had naturally failed the Knowledge Orb evaluation and started at Iron Rank, the very lowest rank possible. Honestly, he had already expected that outcome.

After all, he had previously failed the taming ritual itself. It truly felt as though the world refused to show him even the slightest mercy.

Fortunately, he had obtained the Overlord Tamer System. Otherwise, Oliver genuinely did not know how he would have continued living his life.

"Miss Flora, please place your hand on the Knowledge Orb." the male staff member, Hansen, said politely. He wore the standard brown-colored guild staff uniform and had short brown hair.

Flora slowly walked toward the Knowledge Orb before slowly removing one of her gloves. Hansen unconsciously swallowed his saliva after witnessing her smooth and alluring movements.

"Hey, Husk, let’s make a bet about what rank she’ll get. I’m guessing maybe... Orihalcum rank. Yeah, probably that." Oliver whispered.

"Why are you underestimating her so much? I don’t want to bet with you, but my guess is Adamantite rank." Husk replied while snorting.

"Ehhh...why are you suddenly being so supportive of her? Don’t tell me you have a crush on her?" Oliver narrowed his eyes teasingly.

"Of course not!" Husk immediately denied loudly.

"Please be quiet, you two," Hansen suddenly interrupted while looking toward Oliver and Husk with an annoyed expression.

"Ohh, sorry!" Oliver quickly bowed slightly in apology.

Flora slowly placed her hand onto the Knowledge Orb. For a brief second, nothing happened. However, the orb suddenly began changing color from black into white. The color of Iron Rank.

But it did not stop there. The orb continued shifting colors as the rank steadily increased.

From Iron to Steel, to Mithril, to Orihalcum and then, Adamantite. As the colors continued changing, both Oliver and Hansen’s eyes gradually widened in shock.

"Damn it, I lost the bet!" Oliver muttered quietly.

Yet even then, the orb still had not stopped changing. Soon, it transformed into a deep purple-black color and stopped there. Hansen’s jaw instantly dropped.

"Excuse me, what rank did I get?" Flora asked.

"Ah, sorry!" Hansen immediately snapped back to reality.

"T-That color. It’s actually... Aetherium Rank?!Wait a second!" Hansen hurriedly opened a thick guidebook and quickly searched through the pages. A few moments later, his eyes widened even more.

"It really is Aetherium Rank! T-This is the first time I’ve ever seen someone with this rank personally!" Hansen exclaimed in disbelief.

’Aetherium, huh? My guess was completely off. But to think she’s actually Aetherium Rank. Just how many people in this kingdom possess that level of power? And if they’re all as strong as Flora, then I really need to be careful. I should investigate this more later,’ Oliver thought.

"I-I need to inform the Guildmaster immediately!" Hansen exclaimed before quickly trying to rush out of the room.

However, Husk suddenly leaped in front of the door and blocked his path completely.

"You need to stop right there." Oliver said.

"What are you doing, Oliver?" Hansen asked nervously.

"Sorry, Hansen. But whatever happened inside this room...will stay inside this room only." Oliver replied while narrowing his eyes slightly.

"Do you even understand what you’re doing, Oliver? Someone with her rank doesn’t belong in a small place like this. She should be sent to one of the large cities where the major guilds can properly accommodate an Aetherium Rank hunter. Our guild only has Iron and Steel Rank hunters. If the Guild Society discovers we hid a talent like this, they definitely won’t be pleased." Hansen said seriously.

"Of course I understand that. And that’s exactly why I stopped you." Oliver then slowly handed Hansen a small pouch filled with coins. "Now then, is this enough to settle the matter?"

"Do you seriously think you can bribe me? You’re really mistaken if you thi-" Hansen suddenly stopped speaking the moment he peeked inside the pouch. His eyes instantly widened after seeing the large number of gold coins within it.

"H-How much is this?" Hansen asked while swallowing nervously.

"Fifty gold coins. Is that enough?" Oliver asked casually.

"F-Fifty gold coins?!" Hansen was instantly tempted. As a guild staff member, he only earned around ten gold coins per month. Fifty gold coins was equivalent to five whole months of salary. Hansen closed his eyes tightly for a moment before letting out a long sigh.

"Fine...what rank do you want me to assign her?" Hansen finally asked helplessly.

"Hehehe. Thanks, Hansen. I’d like her to be registered as Iron Rank, from the beginning. Can you do that?" Oliver grinned happily.

"Of course I can. Please wait outside for a moment. I’ll prepare the rank plate for her." Hansen left the room after Husk finally stepped away from the door.

After several minutes, Flora finally received her own hunter plate. She looked unbelievably happy while repeatedly kissing the plate in excitement. Her actions caused many nearby people to stare at her strangely.

"Ahhh... to become hunter like Olive... I’m really happy." Flora said cheerfully.

"Please don’t call me that in public..." Oliver muttered helplessly. "Now that everything’s done, let’s head back home."

Oliver was just about to leave when loud shouting suddenly erupted near the Quest Board area.

"I already told all of you! That dungeon is dangerous! Why do you youngsters keep ignoring advice from seniors?!" a hunter shouted angrily toward a group of younger hunters.

"What’s happening?" Oliver muttered curiously while turning toward the commotion.
