Prosperous Marriage: Married to My Brother-in-law
Chapter 888
Jimmy Horne had just driven into the manor when his personal bodyguard approached him, quietly saying, "Young Master, you're back."
Opening the car door and stepping out, Jimmy asked in a low voice, "Is there any news?"
The bodyguard nodded.
Jimmy pressed his lips together, his eyes turned cold, and he asked again in a low voice, "The master and madam have gone to sleep, right?"
The bodyguard nodded.
As Jimmy walked toward the house, he quietly ordered, "Follow me."
The bodyguard immediately softened his footsteps, following him into the house.
Jimmy led the bodyguard up to the second floor, both of them keeping their footsteps light, worrying about waking Noah Reyes and Adele Horne. In the study room on the second floor, Jimmy casually placed his car keys on the coffee table, sat on the sofa, looked up at the bodyguard, and said in a low voice, "You may speak now."
The bodyguard leaned in and whispered into his ear; no one else could hear what the bodyguard was saying. After hearing the bodyguard's words, Jimmy's gaze instantly turned icy cold, as if his very look could freeze someone into an ice sculpture.
"Young Master, should we do something?" The bodyguard asked, a bit indignant. Someone dared to plot against their Young Master, which was a menace to the entire Blaze Gate. They had enough skill to eradicate that person and their family.
Jimmy did not reply immediately, just leaned against the sofa, deep in thought.
After a moment, he waved a hand, signaling the bodyguard to leave.
The bodyguard dared not ask anything else and left the study room.
Jimmy stood up from the sofa, paced to the window, pulled aside the curtains a little, and then took out his phone to call Camila Ruiz. The call only rang once before Camila picked up, indicating she had been waiting for his call.
"Camila," Jimmy called softly, his handsome face softening. He held the phone with his right hand while untying his tie with his left, saying, "I've arrived."
"Mm."
Camila didn't say much, only made a sound of acknowledgment. 𝗳𝚛𝗲𝕖𝕨𝕖𝗯𝚗𝚘𝕧𝕖𝗹.𝗰𝗼𝕞
"It's late, get some rest early; I'll pick you up for work in the morning," Jimmy advised, and then affectionately added, "I love you! I wish I could hold you until dawn like last night."
"Good night."
She blushed and simply said two words, then hurriedly hung up the phone.
After putting the phone away, she lay on the bed holding a pillow, staring at the ceiling with a flushed face and her heart filled with unusual sentiment.
Camila quickly stopped reminiscing.
Her room was still decorated as it was in her childhood, in pink tones, which reminded her of the room she stayed in at the base. It was obvious that room was specially prepared for her by Jimmy because the decor was entirely new. He had once stayed at her home, been in her room, and shared the bed with her as a child, knowing all about her room.
Thinking back to those times, Camila couldn't help but laugh. She never expected she and Jimmy would end up like this today. She thought they would always be at odds. After Jimmy left Syrena with his parents, she lost touch with him, thinking nothing would ever happen between them again. Who knew that a kidnapping at age fifteen would truly be the beginning of their entanglement?
Thinking about that year, filled with deep affection for her, Camila belatedly realized that the guy had probably recognized her in his heart long ago. Still, there was a sweet joy in her heart.
As she recalled events, Camila suddenly felt sleepless.
She also thought about her future with Jimmy.
She wasn't worried that they wouldn't get married; perhaps their parents were eager for them to marry.
Tossing and turning, Camila still couldn't fall asleep. Begrudgingly, she cursed Jimmy in her heart, that damn guy, it's all his fault!
Turning over again, she looked at the curtained window. The bright moonlight outside filtered through the curtains, giving her unlit room a bit of light, allowing her to clearly see the furnishings inside.
Unable to sleep, Camila simply sat up, put on her slippers, and walked to the window, pulling open the curtains—
A dark shadow had just climbed to her window, and she instantly widened her eyes; her first thought was a thief!
But when she saw the shadow's face clearly, she almost screamed. It was Jimmy Horne!
"You… Jimmy Horne, what are you doing?"
Camila was both irritated and angry. Hadn't this guy gone home? Why was he climbing her window at this hour?
The courtyard outside had a wall, not particularly high, but still somewhat difficult for someone to climb over. She wasn't surprised he could manage it but found it strange she hadn't heard a sound. Did he walk here?
Camila thought her thinking was off; the Nameless Manor was in the suburbs. If he walked, it would take until dawn, maybe longer.
"I came down from the top floor," Jimmy said softly, a bit embarrassed, perhaps because he was seen acting like a thief by the woman he loved.
The window had a security grill, so he could only come down from the top floor.
"You… you couldn't just let me open the door? Be careful, if you wake up my dad and Charles, they'll definitely beat you as a thief!" Camila saw him climbing up, feeling both worried and amused. She couldn't understand what he was thinking—was he playing at excitement?
She missed him, missed him so much she couldn't sleep. It was 3 a.m., and she hadn't expected to see him just as she got up, making her think she was sleepwalking.
Jimmy gestured for her to be quiet.
The dignified Young Master of Blaze Gate, the grandson of the Horne Family, climbing someone else's window late at night. If discovered, this would be explosive news.
Camila didn't speak further, afraid her voice might disturb Charles Colson next door.
Soon enough, Jimmy appeared in her room. She had quietly opened the door, not waiting for him to knock, as that would alert Charles.
As soon as Jimmy entered, Camila grabbed him, roughly pulling him like they were kids fighting, dragging him to the outer room's sofa.
